  1. Wish it was possible to have a thread without people distorting other peoples' views and then arguing against a polarised version of what they actually meant.
  2. Bizarre photo of the Bestinator here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/a/arsenal/9391606.stm
  3. I guess he would argue that he's not a lunatic. Whether that language is justified or not would be the subject of the case, I suppose.
  4. Basically this is my feeling, I can't help be annoyed by all the hyper-negative views.
  5. I really rate O'Hara, good little signing for a lot of clubs.
  6. Rod Liddle writing about football? FWIW Joey should sue the little shit... calling someone a lunatic in a serious paper is crossing the line. And he's clearly only mildly deranged now, he hasn't done anything lunatic for at least a few months.

I think the atmosphere plays a part as well tbh. Yeah obviously, but the two seem to be very closely related in a lot cases. The people who want to sing are also the people who want to stand. I would personally rather sit and sing, but I'm getting on a bit!
  8. Yeah, it's often really weird how people who don't come on this forum hold totally different views. My Dad gets all his opinions on NUFC from the back page of the Chronicle, others from elsewhere. I know places like True Faith tend to be very negative as well. I don't have Sky TV and I don't buy tabloids, so I have another view again. And I'm a natural optimist! So many points of view based on age, level of engagement, what papers you read, etc etc. Almost impossible to make any judgements about our fans in general.

The vast majority of the Leazes L7 stand up, for sure, that's the main reason most people go there.
  10. Neither would I, not right now anyway. Would be silly until we know which of Forster and Krul is the long-term No1.
  11. Always, Bale is basically a LW now.

    Lookalikes

Bet not let Mr Lover Lover Pards see that comparison!

So what is happening to the space that is currently the singing section?
  14. Aye it is Phillips, looks a handful. Probably already on the radar of a number of clubs I guess, and will only be available if B'pool get relegated (maybe not even then). he's also English and young so will probably be £20m.
  15. His record looks good, but I haven't seen him enough to have a view on whether he can make the step up. Seems he has once already though, anyone a regular viewer?
  16. It's your duty as a coach to show them DVDs of Philip Albert, Rob Lee and Les Ferdinand!
  17. Howay Dave, I know what you mean but you must know it's not as black and white as that. People love NUFC obviously, and they can't imagine a life without going to the match. That doesn't mean that they don't think short term when they're considering the management of the club.
  18. I'm coaching kids who had no idea Newcastle were ever once successful, made me feel really old. Jesus, I'm only 28 and that makes me feel ancient. Spurs suddenly being a European powerhouse when we finished about them almost every season until very recently is one hilarious example of this. Gives me hope of progress as well though, things in football can change very quickly.
  19. Who is that young Blackpool lad who's just breaking through? Right winger/forward I think. If they go down I'd be up for a cheeky bid for him (even though I can't remember his name!)
  20. I basically agree Rupert me old chap, as for whether it's just us I have no idea. It's easy for Arsenal fans to be long-termist as in the meantime they're playing brilliant football and challenging the top teams. I think because NUFC is so important in people's lives, and because we've tasted success/great football/europe so recently, it's understandably difficult for people to accept the need to build gradually.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

The way the end of the season is shaping up is exactly right for easing HBA back in... as long as we aren't shitting ourselves about relegation it should be pretty enjoyable.

Surely there's enough space now for almost everyone to choose exactly where they want their season ticket?
  23. Doyle's decent, he just doesn't score enough goals in the Premier League.

    Alan Pardew

So they blamed Keegan for Nacho but it wasn't really his fault, and they were angry with Hughton for Perch/Best but it was really his fault? All I'm saying is nobody really knows, your post seems to confirm that.
