I don't massively rate Simpson, but I think he could turn out to be better with time. As people have said, his main weakness is letting players come inside and shoot, and also a bit dodgy knowing when to stand off and when to tackle. Those could be addressed by coaches. All RBs are shit anyway, it's a well known fact.

The thing about Walcott playing up front is a big plus for me, I've never understood why he isn't played there more. Rooney dropping deep and Theo stretching the defence... could work IMO.

Strikes me he never really utilised the talent he had that could win games... both Benayoun and Aquilani should have been guaranteed starters when fit IMO. Benayoun would make a good signing for Chelsea BTW, not flashy but has really got to grips with the Premiership and is a proper game-changer.
