  1. I reckon he still might come good, he's got the potential. Too soon to be saying he can't cut it for us IMO.
  2. That's mental, even for Newcastle fans! He was clearly our best player tonight.
  3. Agreed, he just never puts the ball in the box, the long haired puff. Problem is that he can dribble the ball but he can't kick the thing.
  4. It was weird on Sentanta when the commentator said that Newcastle fans would be booing any other manager if he had taken off Oba for Owen when he did. Just shows these people don't know what they're on about. I hate it when they make sweeping statements about what Newcastle fans are like.
  5. Nights like this are when you remember what being a toon fan can feel like... awesome. Let's not fuck it up now, eh lads?
  6. Well exactly, you need both types of player... criticising Oba because he isn't Berbatov is a bit harsh IMO. Although he could make slightly better runs that might just be down to confidence and how badly we are playing generally. He clearly cares about the club and I, for one, fucking love the guy.
  7. Funny thing tonight was that I never really thought we were going to lose it for some reason, we were clearly the better team even when they scored. I was the most nervous I've ever been before a game but the lads settled me down a bit with the way they approached the game.
  8. To be honest I've thought in the past that some players get branded with the 'no footballing brain' tag because of their race... there are hundreds of white players who are thick as bricks who never get pulled up on it. But in Oba's case I agree he isn't that 'intelligent' in the way that a Carrick or even Owen is - he's a dynamic player that thrives on the moment, he reacts to what happens around him and tries to do it faster than his opponents. There is a need for both types of player.
  9. Good performance tonight, I was worried when he started Owen... but he showed that he was aware of the impact potential of Martins and Lovelyface and he used them brilliantly.
  10. Scummy bunch of kunts I just find it hilarious when other clubs take the piss... especially if their own clubs are even worse. Just shows they care about us, when I couldn't give two fucks whether West Brom get relegated, stay up or spontaneously combust.
  11. Great point, I'll concentrate on that until the Fulham game.
  12. Aye, he was poor at times, he should have come out and easily picked up a few balls that caused problems. To be fair everyone of the players must have been nervous as fuck, maybe it just affected Harper more than most.
  13. Love it! I looked like some sort of gibbering freak in the pub in Oxford by myself... I've honestly never felt more nervous about a football match. When the boro goal went in I was a state.
  14. I would give him another year and see how he does... it's only money!
  15. That's the thing about the Man Utd game, I doubt they will drop all of their decent players - and even if they did they would probably still beat Hull. Would rather get a nice juicy win against Fulham just to make things more comfortable though.
  16. Class act, his mind is razor-sharp but his body's a bit podgy. Think he might be able to go another couple of seasons if he's well looked after and he works hard. Carroll looks like he might do OK, but he's a very different player.
  17. I love the nicknames for Lovelypants by the way, I chuckle every time I read one still.
  18. Believe what, that we're 80% certain to go down?
  19. The Fulham game would be easier than this one, if we could guarantee we would go all out for the win. The problem might be that we think a draw is good enough.
  20. I honestly feel sorry for Southgate, think he's a decent young manager... I would prefer both teams to stay up. Obviously if it's them or us though, it has to be them.
  21. Not sure, I can't go above a 5, I don't think we're worse than 50/50 to down by any means.
  22. Viduka was brilliant, he's like that bloke every pub team has who can hardly move but has amazing skills. That backheel shot he tried was shit, but can't complain! Oba didn't look fit, he would have got another on the break if he had been, so still might see him used as a sub against Fulham. Lovenkrands might be a good option from the start, at least he can move around a bit and he has a decent shot on him. I didn't think Owen was that bad but he needs chances made for him still. Finding it hard to celebrate properly, there's a lot of football left to play... but we've given ourselves a chance.
