  1. I'm all for realism but we're entitled to feel more than a little bit pleased about how things turned out yesterday. When I sat down to watch it I still had that Allardyce feeling in my stomach where I fear we're going to go to a good team, lie down and take it in every hole. The fact that we took the game to them, played some nice football on the ground and still came away with a point is fantastic. We shipped 6 at Old Trafford a few months ago ffs. Our objectives in terms of finish this season haven't changed (i.e. nobody is saying we're going to come 4th now), but it's a lovely way to get started.
  2. I saw Atouba a couple of times and I never understood why he wasn't rated at Spurs, thought he looked a decent player. Did he not score a goal against us a few seasons back when he just sauntered forward, nobody closed him down and he hit it from about 25 yards? (Edit - just read the article properly and it mentions that goal).
  3. Reckon they'll still have any of his letters left in the club shop by the Bolton game?
  4. "If he scores 'United' win, if he doesn't 'United' draw" Will they fucking stop calling them 'United'!
  5. I know, it was hilarious in the pub I was watching it in, I had to wait til they showed Martins running away to see he'd got it in.
  6. will be edited to look like we escaped a beating, no doubt This cnut commentating loves Man Utd like, nob.
  7. Smith no, but an on-form Barton would have helped out a lot IMO.
  8. I admit I didn't know much about this guy, but blew me away today to be honest. Plus cuts down on the number of signings we need, since he can play LM, RM, CM and LB all at once.
  9. As much as I'd like to think so, can't see how one draw will even register with the players we're looking at; except maybe if they're already in the UK and watch MOTD.
  10. When I thought Campbell had injured Coloccini I nearly cried... looked like another long term injury for a second (toon paranoia stirkes). Then I remembered he was Argentine and probably play acting, phew.
  11. Admirably succinct my good man!
  12. Michael Carrick doesn't have much of an engine, but he gets himself in the right positions and uses the ball well. Very impressed by Guthrie so far, looking forward to the Bolton game a lot more after today.
  13. When given made those saves at the beginning I just had a feeling it would be a good day for us. If Taylor hadn't been off the pitch we might well have won the game. Either team could have had a penalty.
  14. Aye, we're all guilty of a bit of hyperbole. In my defence today, I'm exaggerating on purpose because I'm so happy about that result.
  15. I didn't read the article to be honest, too happy for any of that.
  16. Have a look at that headline: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/default.stm
  17. Very pleased today obviously, was just so beautiful to go to Old Trafford and fight, take the game to them and score. Honestly, if we'd lost by the odd goal I would still have been content, it's just such a difference in attitude/approach. Allardyce was an expert in telling players what not to do and how cautious they need to be, Keegan is a master of getting them to imagine what they can achieve.
  18. Just looked a cock going mental in a pub in Oxford... V happy with that half. Strange how many Man Utd fans there are here, hmm...
  19. They're getting a solid, experienced defender for a small fee. They should be pissing themselves. He's not superb but I'd rather have him here, than have an extra £2m in the bank and have to promote Taylor to automatic first choice. I completely agree, only mitigating factor might be whatever has gone on behind the scenes. And also who might yet arrive. I'm still leaning towards it being a bad sale, but we'll see.
  20. Seconded I had my doubts when we announced the return of the mack, but he's putting them all to rest one at a time. If Faye is disrupting things behind the scenes (as is hinted at) and/or KK doesn't rate him then I've no problem at all.
  21. From Stoke's point of view though he's a good signing, might just help them avoid embarassment a la Derby.
  22. It's just like I'll never forget the first time I came out of the entrance onto the stand at SJP, floodlights on and I'd never seen anything like it... felt amazing. Going Home has the same effect, just so many associations with great times. Even more so now that KK is back again.
  23. If it matters to you that much, then I hope you a great time. It does and I will, not embarassed to admit I love Local Hero.
  24. Come off it man, the power of music and the associations between particular songs and events is obvious. I can't wait for the Bolton game even more now, it's never been the same since they got rid of that song.
