Truth, it's only been a week FFS.

I think Cliff Richard said it best: Used to think that life was sweet, Used to think we were so complete, I cant believe youd throw it away. Used to feel we had it made, Used to feel we could sail away, Can you imagine how I feel today, Well it seems a long time ago you were the lonely one, Now it comes to letting go you are the only one, Do you know what youve done. Its so funny how you dont talk (to the fans) anymore, Its so funny why you dont talk (to the fans) anymore, But I aint losing sleep and I aint being a sheep, Its so funny how you dont talk (to the fans) anymore. Not sure if that applies to Keegan or Ashley though.

I know you're passionate, fair play for that., but that letter is absolute bollocks.

Is there some unknown October deadline that I'm not aware of like? If appoints someone on 30th September, is that OK?
-
I think this issue of communication is a massive red herring, can't see what the club could have said throughout this whole episode that (a) people would have accepted as the truth, and (b) would have made us feel any better.

It's been no time at all man, relax.

Wisey, wisey, give us a wave?

We need to forget about the need for anyone to love the club or be a Geordie legend. We just need an experienced, competant manager that likes attacking football and will fit into the backroom system. Like Dave says, if they were going to give the manager full control they would have backed down to keep Keegan.
-
They could easily have put out more comments - even if they were really vague - especially on that first day. Was he sacked? Had he resigned? Talks still ongoing? No problem whatsoever? We had fuck all for almost the full day, and even then they didn't confirm anything properly. The point is that since Mort went, we've not heard a fucking peep from Llambias, and it's not good enough. In case they didn't notice, the fans care what's going on. Yeah, Llambias does seem like a reclusive chairman. With the owner not wanting to be public, he needs an approachable chairman like Chris Mort. Bring back Mort! I've thought of a protest
-
Fair enough, but what would you like the club to have said? I don't think they would be happy to comment on the details of what was going on behind the scenes...

Appears that Yorke may have already agreed with Sunderland that he wasn't going to play for Trinidad again, as a condition of them offering him a contract. If that's true then in this case Warner is just a cock. Wouldn't be the first time he's made an arse of himself though.
-
Jack Warner is a clown, but clubs are also wrong to stop players appearing for their country, so I don't know who to believe!
-
I suppose you've got a point Darth, even I wouldn't mind shouting at someone for Keegan leaving. I just don't think there is enough reason, or enough chance of it actually acheiving anything, for a protest to be worthwhile. Now the initial flare-up of emotion has passed I believe that even more. I know I live away from Newcastle at the moment, and I'm not a season ticket holder, so maybe I'm not best placed to be criticising people, just expressing my opinion on the whole thing.
-
I still don't exactly know what the protest would be about anyway to be honest. Just to get Mike Ashley out, because Keegan resigned? I just don't think we've got enough reason for this reaction, that's what makes it difficult for me to support a protest. It needs to be more than just an outpouring of emotion. I know a lot of people think differently obviously.
-
I just wish we could avoid being all over SSN again looking like complete idiots. No matter how dignified or sensible you try to make these protests look, everyone else in the country will be laughing their heads off at us. It's unavoidable. That's not to mention the complete morons who will obviosuly take it too far after a morning's drinking.

Against Hull (famous last words I know), I would be tempted to get Xisco in even if he hasn't worked with the squad that much. Seems an ideal match to get him some Prem experience, without it being as tough as playing against someone good. Just looking forward to the game now, sick of talking about non-football matters.

Thanks for this thread everyone, much more entertaining than the Ashley vs Keegan deathmatch.

Does anyone out there have any kind of confidence in Ashley at all?

I don't think the club will pursue Keegan for breach of contract - there would be too much negative publicity in it. -
I listened to the game rather than watched, but seemed a class performance and result. Well done to Capello for including Walcott. Like you say though, I hope he doesn't bring Gerrard back straight away - he tries too much all the time IMO.

Aye, mine too. Even if it goes to court we probably won't know that much more - hopefully it won't come to that anyway. in a way but it may be the only way to conclude it. many people will believe keegan regardless while a minority will believe that if keegan doesn't take it to court it is because he has no case. either way it's going to leave a nasty taste. the court route may be better in the long run if ashley plans on staying. Not sure, to be honest I'd be surprised if any legal action was taken by either side. Keegan hasn't denied that he resigned has he? So he wouldn't have much of a case against the club that I can think of. What would he sue them for, or what would they sue him for? -

I agree with that, it's beyond doubt that Keegan is a quality manager. The only thing is, will his suspect emotions and volatile character become too much of a risk for another club? And will he even want to go back into management?

Word up. That's what I find so irritating, the way everyone is completely forgetting how we saw the club up to a week ago. -

That's completely true, but what you can address (and therefore worth discussing) are economic and social factors like the ones we've mentioned - not genetics. -

Two good posts there lads, I couldn't be bothered to come up with anything as reasoned as that! I'm always amazed at the way a correlation is taken to indicate a 'cause and effect' scenario - even the most respectable people and public bodies make that mistake all the time.
