What he’s done with the atmosphere and culture around the England team has been absolutely transformational, last thing you want to do is get back to the revolving door of managers again. It’s almost impossible for a manager to do more than he has anyway. He was a dodgy penalty or two away from winning the Euros, don’t see how you can really seek to upgrade on that.

I feel the same sometimes, guess you just have to remember it’s a minority who behave badly. I hate that part of English culture in general, but they don’t decide what it means to be English. We all do. The tribal nature of football is stupid anyway IMO, I’ve never enjoyed it. I don’t have much idea of rivalry or hatred of other teams at all. I just like watching the skill and the tactics more than anything else.

I don't think Kane was that good. If we had another top-level striker he might not have played. TBF though, he’ll always look awful in games like this when we have so little of the ball. He doesn’t look sharp or fit to me, not sure if temporary or permanent.

Tend to agree. A goal so early is really not worth as much as you think, you’ll always need a second. When they were racking up yellow cards I don’t understand why he didn’t use Sancho to put them to the test a bit more. Even Calvert-Lewin for Kane might’ve added some mobility that would have rattled them. In the end we played into their hands.

It should be though. It wasn’t just obstructing a guy or stopping the attack, it was grabbing him by the neck and yanking him down. Really dangerous.

Should really be a red card for the strangle slam that Chiellini did on Saka. There should be an offence that’s more than a yellow for that.

My main feeling is being sorry for the penalty takers like. Someone like Sancho… has a great season and then never gets used in the Euros. Then suddenly he’s expected to take a pen like that. Rashford, totally out of form and again hasn’t been used. Saka not having a good game and only 19. Hard not to be angry about that management, it’s very difficult to understand.

Its just trying to show how much of an amazing competitor you are by saying second is meaningless. It’s very silly.

It was also a little strange to latch onto Saka as the one he was going to use. I think even persevering with Kane was questionable, especially in a game like this where we couldn’t get the ball to him.

Just our style will lead to very close games against good teams. We won’t score many, they have more chance of breaking us down eventually. It’s much more of a risk against a team like Italy.

I think they’re saying that it was weird to send on players to take a penalty who have barely been used and hadn’t touched the ball.

Literally set up for those lads to fail, terrible strategy.
