  1. Nope, capital losses against capital gains only I believe.
  2. I don't think it actually means take it off the market but just start actively running the club again i.e. buying crap players and hiring out of touch managers. But why come out and say anything then? I don't see why he can;t do both a the same time, market the club and appoint shite managers.
  3. Why does he have to take it off the market? I just dont understand his thinking at all. If he wants to sell then leave it on and just run the club like it should be run as if it wasn't for sale. It can still be marketed though. I hate the man for what his is doing to us.
  4. If he poured £100m into the club, the club owes him £100m. If the club has £50m in cash available, then he is quite entitled to take that out of the club. If doing so however were to endanger the clubs status as a going concern and it goes bust because of that he would be liable personally. So yes, Ashley could take whatever out of the club he wants to until his loan is repaid.
  5. Spurs announced last Friday that agreement had been reached for Bassong's transfer. The FA's deadline to get him registered prior to Newcastle's game was 5pm Friday. He wasn't registered until after that time so technically he was still Newcastle's player when Newcastle played West Brom. As he was still a Newcastle player for the West Brom game, he couldn't play because he was still suspended. He never played, the second match suspension was satisfied and so he is eligible to play against Liverpool next Sunday. The FA don't now list him as being suspended. http://www.thefa.com/TheFA/Disciplinary/SuspensionLists.aspx Jesus christ that list has David Edgar being suspended for us in the premier League. Hardly accurate now is it?
  6. Because he never has before and doing so would only make the final sale price less anyway so he gains nothing by doing so. The better answer was 'because thats embezzlement and against the law'. No its not and no it isn't.
  7. I feel like I have just wandered into a room full of pot heads talking complete shite.
  8. Is everyone in this thread smoking crack?
  9. 5 to 9 is too late for a press conference.
  10. Its not beyond doubt that writing off all his debt as a loss could be worth more against his tax liability than he is actually able to get for the club Nah that's BS, plus you don't have to go into administration to right of a tax loss. He can do that as soon as a loss has materialised, i.e when he sells his shares.
  11. If we go into administration then the administrators will sell the club within a week for peanuts. There's absolutely no reason why Ashley will let that happen. There will be a big player sell off before administration happens. This month is key to that.
  12. Nobody will buy the club with his £100m still in it. That's the reason why clubs like Chelsea and retailers like zavvi get bought for £1, the debts outwieght the value of the club. Do you think Ambramovic will keep his debt to Chelsea when he leaves? Can you imagine Chelsea being £400m in debt to Ambramovic and still finding a buyer to pay what he wants for the club? i.e £250m for the club and then £400m to abramovic? He will have to write it off because nobody will pay £100 for us with debts at that level. Either he writes it off or gives the club away.
  13. There's no way Ashley will get his £100m back. It will be reduced significantly or even written off as part of the agreement to sell. Unless Ashley is really valuing the club at £200m. At the moment his debt is at risk just like any other creditor. If the club goes into administration he can kiss bye bye to his £100m and the £134 he paid to buy it. I think him getting £100m back will be a result for him to be honest. He risks everything if the club goes to the wall. Either way it gets rid of any doubt that Ashley just doesn't care any more and the club is dragging him down. Not good.
  14. What contract has he got at the moment? Is he even still under contract? I cant recall if it has been clarified or not yet? Or did I dream he was on a 3 year deal already?
  15. I think that is the classic mistake to make. We go on thinking that and we will be in that division for years. Shearer has already said we need to start thinking like a championship club straight away. Whats that kids name from West Ham they said they will let out on loan? Get him in.
  16. I think Hull and Sunderland are the likely teams we can overtake. Stoke are safe IMO, Portsmouth will pull clear. So a Pompey win against hull please.
  17. Stoke will stay up. Have you seen there run in compared to ours? The only hope is that West Brom remain shit and Hull continue to drop like they are. Blackburn are now looking decent though so that leaves one other. I think its between us Boro and Pompey for the last spot.
  18. The Arsenal game is on setanta too 5:30pm kickoff on the saturday.
  19. And that's from Caulkin who seems to throw these comments out every now and again without any fanfare and is quite on the mark most times. I fully expect an experienced center back to tarrive.
  20. Maybe if we talk Stefan Kuntz out of retirement he could pronounce it wrong all he likes.
  21. Johnson, Sturridge and Onuaha for Given and I'd glady given them a few £m too. I would take Johnson over Elano even. I think the lad has a massive future, almost Gerrard like at times.

    Aaron Spear

I wonder if this lad will still sign due to current problems. If Ashely sells up and Wise leaves maybe he will have a change of heart? I seem to remember if was Wise that convinced him. Also, I still have not seen his name appear on the official site yet in any of the youth games or anything. When is he 16?
  23. Hes left the club. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2008/09/08/terry-mac-and-adam-salder-part-company-with-nufc-72703-21702290/ Sacked by the sounds of it.
