  1. How does the term go, sometimes you have to speculate to accumulate.
  2. He really hasn't, not by any measure. I keep having this same argument with a mate of mine. Ashley has turned a club capable of competing financially with even the likes of Arsenal at the time, to one that cannot, in the manager's own words, compete with Southampton. FS may have spent more than he should have on players and used future ST money etc. to do so and yes we were in debt but the club could handle it and because we actually had ambition, we were only ever a good appointment away from succeeding as we showed under Sir Bobby. Ha we kept Sir Bobby and gave him 50m even if it was borrowed, we would have succeeded somehow at some point. Oh and while we did owe the banks a lot of money, we didn't owe anywhere near as much to them as what is owed to MA, a malicious cunt of a man who has zero interes in the club other than what we spend and where he can plaster his tacky two-bit SD brand. Brilliant post, MA and his cronies have rammed financial FairPlay and our supposed whiter than white accounts so far up people's arses its coming out of their mouths
  3. I seem to remember you being a big fan of protests against the NUFC board in the past. Thanks for the characteristically cheap shot. No answer to my honest question, however. There have been protests. Did you think they did any good? How's it a cheap shot? For people who are unhappy with the direction and stewardship of the club there's little alternative other than to shut up and meekly accept it. Something you weren't prepared to do under the previous regime. Strange. Still going for the man and not for the ball. I'll rephrase my question yet again, in the probably vain hope of actually getting an answer: If you think any of the protests against Ashley have had a positive effect, please tell me what it was. A protest in our case will make little or no difference to MA's personal conscience, he does effectively hold all the cards with regards to NUFC however that does not mean to say that the/a protest was or would be unsuccessful. What we as fans need to do is to highlight the mismanagement of NUFC and promote our worries and views to the national media, this is where our protests come in to play we need to use them as a vehicle to carry our sorry clubs demise into the national and international view because this is the only way that we will rid ourselves of MA. The knowledge of our demise is out there we just need to promote it and bring it even further into the public light. With this we can give MA a motivation to sell NUFC, he is not going to want bad headlines which could effect his FTSE 100 baby, at the moment he is cozy in bed with NUFC his business uses it as a vehicle to grow profits and he has the benefit of being able to draw money from the club as he pleases. IMO Protests need to be used to highlight our issues and ultimately put us in the shop window for a new owner. We can force MA out but chants of "sack the board" and FCB aren't going to do it. Good post, and some good ideas. A protest campaign needs to be intelligent and well presented. While there might be good reason to be annoyed at Ashley's running of the club, we need an alternative owner on the horizon before we start getting militant otherwise all it will achieve is him taking his money out of the club sooner rather than later. Isn't the line "our sorry clubs demise into the national and international view " slightly delusional ? Why would anyone else be particularly interested in our ownership ? Most fans in football bitch about their owners to a greater or lesser extent, and bearing in mind our current players, position and readiness for FFP etc, I doubt many fans in Leeds, Sheffield, Nottingham, Coventry, Wolverhampton, Birmingham, Blackburn, Bolton, Bristol, Portsmouth, Middlesbrough, Glasgow, or anywhere else for that matter, will be too concerned about Newcastle fans' latest grievances. By that i mean, our best chance of getting a new owner is to advertise the fact that we are unhappy with how things are. There is a owner out there somewhere and our best chance of getting one is to bring the club to that person's attention whether they be from a national or international base. My example would be this, Lets say we had a stay away for a live televised home game, Man Utd at home for arguments sake. Well that would be a international message (with the game being watched all over the world), a message that says that we are so unhappy that we are willing to demonstrate whilst playing against the champions of England......we need to prick the mind of the person/s that want to buy and in the mean time will bring unwanted attention to MA. So i suppose my point would be, the idea is to bring ourselves to the attention of a new owner not other football fans.
  4. Would be canny to see a 7 a side type tournament at SJP like the 5's at the arena with NUFC legends and Sporting, Ipswich, PSV, Barca etc legends each summer for charity. Make a day of it. I'd buy into that. What did you people make of the crowd last night? I was in the East Stand and thought that the songs/chants were fairly low key considering the players that were on the pitch.
  5. Pedro roaming on the edge of the box Dabizas like a Greek god at the back Pavs penalty saves Ginola Rob Lee coming deep for the ball Gillespies cross to Tino Cant we have one of these every year

  7. That's just wrong. To be fair, Benteke aside, who would you want from their side? Apart from Paul Lambert. Agbonlawhore is ok for a pen once or twice a game.
  8. I'd love to beat these bunch of cunts. I still carry the relegation ticket in my wallet, horrible, horrible bunch of twats. I'd love to see these fuckers destroyed. Won't happen though.
  9. Considering the cash turnstiles I'd expect around 50k. Brilliant turn out regardless. Lass in the bar just said that she has been to buy tickets and there is less then 400 left. She has a cast on and level 7 was all she could get.
  10. Loading up on Amstel prior to this, can't wait.
  11. Lambert just called that fella a faggot....
  12. Sums up our transfer strategy http://i938.photobucket.com/albums/ad223/Philly1983/ScreenShot2013-09-08at213418.png
  13. I don't know what form any protest should take, but obviously people are angry and feel they need to do something. IMO a boycott of the cup game would only scratch the surface financially, and we all know we won't stay away should we somehow reach the interesting stages, quarter finals onwards, and there'll be nearer a full house than in the Leeds game. Suggesting a boycoutt against a club like Leeds, who will bring 6,000 fans with them and would love to be in the position we are in, is pretty embarrassing really. Yeah I must admit I'm not convinced, I'd like to see some kind of statement from the fans. A televised game say Man Utd at home or alike with a empty stadium would do more to promote our cause I'd say.
  14. Thats presuming his job wasn't just to come in and be someone to take the flak for the lack of transfers.

  16. Everton Athletic, Martinez showing a totally blinkered approach to signing players.
  17. Gonna take the dog up to Barrack road and throw the ball around a bit, hopefully he will catch Joe's eye. The plan is to liken him to Obertan, pacey but no end product or concentration. http://i938.photobucket.com/albums/ad223/Philly1983/f15fbcaf.jpg
  18. AVB turning up to work in a Ferrari
  19. Exactly how i'm expecting it to go, on saturday i pointed to Ruiz and told my mate to remember him come deadline day. History repeating itself.
  20. Just got back, thought we played ok if unadventurous in the first half with Shola on the system seemed a very rigid style of play. Second half we did better but the subs made the real difference, the attack looked much more dynamic and fluid then. I was surprised when Anita went off as i thought he was having a good game, but Cabaye worked hard and played some good balls, Remy was the real surprise for me i didn't realise how tall he was and thought he did well both in the air and on the ground, he really turned the game for me along with Gouffran. Marv was disappointing for me, he looked lazy IMO. Overall the second half should give us hope although we still need a striker, someone powerful who can compete in the air. Corners improved for me too.
  21. Judging by the comments on here I think you're in the minority. Didn't hunk he was poor but I thought he looked tired until the subs were made, then he got a second wind.
