  1. I don’t think they publicised it as well as previously. Heard Radio Newcastle say towards the end of last week that 10,000 tickets had been sold and then there was an interview with Becky Langley late last week urging more people to go. Also think Amanda really kept the team in the public eye and some of that seems to have been lost. Pricing would also have an impact as lots of families tend to go. Was really sweet passing a family enroute to the ground where the young lad kept saying to his father “Are we really going to St James’? Really?’ And his Dad having to try and hold him back from running ahead.

    Lewis Hall

Comes across as much more confident and comfortable in his surroundings. He seemed painfully shy last season.
  3. Always think it is a shame that some of these flags are seen only once. Would it not be possible for some of them to be hung in the concourse?
  4. Not sure but I assume Wilson was injured when we signed him and we needed a striker as Saint-Maximim was playing up front at the time. He provided structure to the team in a way that Maxi was unable to. He did the job he was required to do although the lack of goals was disappointing. We also had a remarkable win rate when he played. I don’t think we actively tried to sell him but when Forest came in for him, he wanted to leave.

    Alexander Isak

And there was Mark Douglas in his article today saying he wanted to extend his contract like Gordon. Always confusing messaging around Isak because of the Arsenal ITKs who have been convinced he their player as soon as they say the word..
  6. She has got another investment fund together and is supposedly in discussions to invest in Spurs - hence the recent sightings at Spurs matches and rumours of Howe to Spurs.
  7. Saw a pic of all 3 sat together alongside Jamie Reuben. Thought the Chairman was supposed to be coming over but not seen any mention of him being at the match.
  8. They just talk so much during the games - it’s non-stop conversation between the commentator and co-commentator. The co-commentator never used to talk so much. I find myself turning the sound down for most games. Remember listening to a Newcastle game on TalkSPORT in the car a good few years ago from about 10 mins in and it wasn’t until half-time that they mentioned the score. The commentators spent most of the game talking about anything but the game. I have scarcely listened to them since. it makes me appreciate Matthew Raisbeck on Radio Newcastle because when you see his commentary against the TV highlights, you realise how accurately he is relaying the game.

    Paul Mitchell

Maybe our transfer set up under Ashworth wasn’t that great. However, it was non-existent before the takeover. It will take time to implement a system and Ashworth wasn’t here long enough to address everything seeing as he had so many other things to deal with as well.

    Anthony Gordon

He will be in demand for interviews as he is eloquent and honest and doesn’t come out with the same old soundbites.
  11. Before his arrival, weren’t we having to play Saint-Maximim as the striker. He provided the structure to the team in Wilson’s absence and our record was very good when played. He might not have scored the goals but he served his purpose.
  12. Longstaff has talked about PSR and how the players had seen the news and that it seemed everyone had their price. I guess that would have been unsettling for the players as well.

    Paul Mitchell

I thought Southampton’s chairman at the time - Nicola Cortese - was the one who brought in Pochettino. I seem to recall that he had known of him previously.

    St James' Park

I thought the club did not own the land the stadium stands on as it belongs to the Freemen. Is that correct? Who owns the land around the stadium?
  15. I personally think that the interview he did regarding Mitchell etc is what led to Eddie’s remarks about job boundaries at that press conference in Germany which created an impression of some discontent behind the scenes. He talked about how Mitchell’s appointment would allow Eddie to do what he was best at on the training ground. The press were told that Eddie didn’t know about Mitchell’s appointment until the day before it was announced so it looks like Eddie was completely in the dark about how the appointment of Mitchell would impact upon him. If that was the case then it was poor from Eales to make such remarks in a press interview before discussing it with Eddie. And I think that has created the current narrative that the media are constantly pushing of all not being well.
