    Keegan Talk In

Superb post. Ashley and Llambias seem to have persuaded a lot of people that any NUFC fan who hopes for anything above mediocrity is some sort of fantasist. Recent history tells us that does not have to be the case.
  2. Suprised noones got Stuart Pearce in at left back, past his best when he played for us but still quality. Id have him in for his leadership as much as anything. Surely better than Bernard, especially with the lack of defending Ginola/Robert did.
  3. Ill donate like, but they should have a Bobby tribute match with proceeds going to the charity. They could pack out St James if they charged £20 quid, and theres 500k twice over. Give us a chance to show the man what we think of him too.

    Mark Hughes

    Kevin Gallacher? Class for us.
  5. Please give it to Alan. we're not like other clubs, we need a personality and someone to create a buzz about the place, and Shearer would undoubtedly do that. he'd already have won half the battle without doing owt. He'd get time, have everyone behind him and the players would have to perform. He clearly understands the game and is as safe bet as anyone to be a good manager. If hes willing to take this job on and risk everything he's achieved he clearly still has a massive amount of hunger and drive to succeed. Failing us attracting top top (and therefore foreign) manager, id take Shearer over any realistic contender. 'Arry Redknapp FFS.

    NEXUS

Well thats what struck me- it is going to be lit up red and white, then some white bits!!! I don't think that I'm being a drama queen,I just think that huge edifice,in mackem colours in our city is wrong. And no I don't want to 'big' about it,you can't take the moral high ground where football is concerned. Certainly not if you jump about like a loon when your team score or you sing daft songs or bay for the refs blood etc etc.Thats what football is about. O.K. it might just be my opinion but I don't want to drive over a bridge decked out in mackem colours (in Newcastle) at any time, but especially not in derby week. There again if you don't live here why give a sh1t Haha spot on!

    Alan Smith

Change seats, it's only £30 for Milburn level 7. good point. or I could get even better value by going down the park on a sunday morning for nowt.

    Alan Smith

I really do resent paying £35 to watch Alan Smith play football.
  9. I laughed out loud! Jesus Chrst. Im by no means one of those that cant wait to get on their high horse at the first opportunity, but thats bang out of order. Good luck Bob.
  10. Smith, I had my doubts when we signed him but decided to give him a chance.... but jesus christ, everything I thought about him is being reinforced, and then some.
  11. Which is fair enough. Why the fuk should the club pay silly amounts for crap talents such as Luque and Boumsong while our own youth players who are of better quality get peanuts in comparison? His father has hit the nail on the head, probably too well, he couldn't of picked two players in which to make an example of better than what he has. It will all be sorted in a few weeks and we'll have him, Milner & Zoggy tied down for the next 5 years. Add Martins to that (fingers crossed) and we've got a good core of youth to take us into the future. What bollocks. So we should pay every half decent player 50 grand a week just because Luque and Boumsong got paid more and they were shite? They were unmitigated failures, using them as a benchmark is ridiculous.
  12. Its not just this though, theres been numerous signs the lads been getting a bit big for his boots. Ive heard from quite a few people he's getting called 'hollywood' by the other players and people at the club - obviously this could be bollocks but ive heard it from that many people that dont know each other that im inclined to believe their might be some truth in it. However I did get told in person by pretty someone close to the club that Taylor was a unbelievably arrogant tosser (off the mic) when being interviewed, and he said it was a shame he could not have conducted himself more like peter ramage, a poor footballer but a nice, polite lad, he said. Also Allardyce's comments after he was called up to the England squad were pretty strong, and went far beyond the usual comments about players keeping their feet on the ground after a international call up - all the stuff about michael ricketts and stating the fact he wouldn't improve if he didn't listen again suggests the gaffers concerned about his ego. I also don't think theres any questioning the fact that he's over-rated because he's local. I like Taylor as a player, and think hes got bags of potential, but he's got a long way to go. Milners the same age but a far more accomplished premiership player imo, and the criticism he gets astounds me. If hed been raised in Newcastle im positive the general consensus would say he's the next Chris Waddle. The last quote of the article, “Yet I do not see this being a problem at Liverpool with Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher” (about clubs exploiting local players loyalty to pay them less money) is also very worrying. We're talking about two established internationals that are a succesful, regular champions leauge clubs two most influential and consistent players - the fact his Dads comparing his lad to them is frightning.
  13. what a dick. he would appear he thinks he's better than he is, which is a shame as it could hamper his development.
  14. Seen us win at Old Trafford against Spurs in the semi, in Feyenoord (3-2) at Spurs (1-0 90th minute Jenas winner) Barnsley (1-0 in leauge cup) Charlton (2-0) the mackems twice (nobby and dabizas games) Draw at leicester (2-2) and Chelsea (when Acuna scored) And losses at Liverpool (4 times) Everton (when Grveson snapped bernard) Bolton twice, West Ham, Fulham (at loftus road) Man U at Cardiff, Chelsea at Wembley, Villa twice (bobbys last game and obas debut) Boro, (the one posponed cos of the 'snow') and probably a few more im forgetting Not a great record but I think I used up my quota of good luck at Feyenoord - my best mate had to persuade me to go for ages because we'd lost the first 3 games!
  15. I think people are selling him short by saying we wont miss him that much, I think we'll miss him hugely. He was our only real creative player, it doesnt matter if hes 32 or 22 - he never had pace anyway. Look at Smith on the right today - I know who'd id rather pay to see.
  16. The 10 years continuous service testimonial clock is reset if a player leaves i.e. going to Aston Villa for a season and a half. I stand corrected, I assumed it was 10 years service in total, regardless of weather it was interrupted.
  17. Gutted. I really think we've fucked up by (apparantly) letting him go so easily, surely a compromise could have been reached to let him spend a bit more time in London? But thats not Allardyce's way, probably rightly so. Just gutted to see such a great player leave. We've got noone else with the ability to play the 'killer ball' anyway close to as frequently and consistently as Nobby. Just missed out on a testimonial too, was counting on a Newcastle vs a Ireland and Peru combined XI in a joint game with Shay! Anyway, id say the right midfield spot in my all time (that ive seen play) Newcastle team is safely his - its going to take someone very very special to shift him. Thanks for the memories, and playing almost as big of a part in Shearer breaking the goal scoring record as Al did himself! You'll be missed son.
  18. Its not complaining that the bloke had simply bought a fake ticket because he was desperate to see the game and used it on the off chance he would get in mate. Thats probably morally wrong, but I agree its something alot of us (myself included) would seriously consider. It was that this bloke had actively gone out and bought what he knew to be a fake ticket, and when asked whether or not he felt guilty that his fellow supporters with genuine tickets hadn't been able to get in the ground, he said no - it was nothing to do with him and that it was UEFAs fault for allowing him inside in the first place. Surely you can see this is a completely hypocritical attitude? and while every club has its arseholes, this sort of refusal to accept blame and the fact that this bloke adopted a holier than thou attitude despite creating the problem in the first place I reakon is typical of many scousers. As for football violence, Anfield is the only place ive expierienced it. Seen people getting chased, a lad on the deck getting kicked in by about 6 people, my best made got twatted in the face, and been hoyd out this pub by an absolute wradgie. While obviously you cant generalise about any group of people completely, (im sure theres some lovely scousers...) surely people can judge a certain demographic on their own expieriences?
  19. Agreed. I dont think anyones being self-righteous here, every away game attracts a undesirable element, thats their nature, tradition etc. Us maybe more than others, and ive been embarrased at times over the years by parts of our support. but the scousers, jesus christ. they really are in a league of their own. The only team where the the total arseholes appear to make up the majority, rather than the minority, home and away. The self pitying hypocracy and the fact they never take any blame for their actions makes them even worse. Their the football equivelent of Ambulence chasers. I remember after the CL final some prick getting interviewed on tele saying with a straight face it was a disgrace he'd been allowed in the ground in Athens with a fake ticket he'd bought. Unbelieveable. Although I must say while ive been to Anfield 4 times, the one time I went to Everton as a fifteen year old the fans were sound, got us pissed, and made sure we got our train. Then my Dad got slashed with a slanley knife across his face in the seventies, so maybe we were just lucky. this 96 empty seat thing though, its just cringeworthy.
  20. exactly mate, they throw money at you. use the free 2 grand overdraft. Just do without the spice boy clothes and volunteering in fucking Venezuela. I managed.
  21. Pisses me off students complaining and wanting discounts. don't see single parent discounts, or unemployed discount, or discounts for people on low incomes. The only reason students get discounts anywhere isn't because out of the goodness of businessmens hearts, its because they have a disposable income in the first place. Ive just finished and aye I was skint alot of the time, but I was alot better off than alot of people working wiith shit jobs with kids etc. Prioritise or dont go.
  22. Im not to sure about stremers inspiring the lads to victory, but ive got a feeling 50000 excited Geordies with a few extra hours drinking time might! The new optimism, the result against Bolton, the fact its the first home game of the season after a summer without even a international tournament and the late kick off time are all going to combine to create one of the best atmouspheres for years in my opinion, ill certainly be doing my bit! The streamers are harmless, and might look canny. Agree it better not be a stepping stone to dancing girls and fieworks though, unless we do a wolves and aim them at the opposition dugout when west ham visit!
  23. Aye Shola loves daft hats. he's got a massive collection and there "very important to him" or something according to his slot on footballers cribs. He was getting funny looks from some of the kids. Fair play to the players; there was a long line of kids & only a couple of players looked fed up & they were the younger ones. Good to hear mate, I went to one of them when I was about fifteen just after Bobby took over. Got me shirt signed and waited outside after it finished abd got pictures with legends like big dunc, maric, marcelino, steve howey... Got Shay and Speed as well though. Best bit was Stevie Harper and Gary Speed ripping it out of me mate for having old macdonald as his ring tone.
  24. Aye Shola loves daft hats. he's got a massive collection and there "very important to him" or something according to his slot on footballers cribs. "Obviously this is me hats like, I like hats obviously and i've obviously got a lot of different hats like.........obviously" Was enthralling stuff. Fixed Shola's Quote. Oh aye maybe it was his sleep after "work" or his big shower "cos, obviously, im a big lad" or his big car also "cos, obviously, im a big lad" that was "very important" to him. Fucking brilliant television best comedy ive ever seen.
