  1. We are the new arsenal.... only not as good
  2. Aye I hope we can invest the money saved from the debt repayment's in the playing staff. Just think how much extra money the club will have. The future is bright.
  3. I'd say it was more to do with the fact that sam likes his keepers to dominate the box and come for absolutely everything so the defence are sure he's coming for it and don't end up in 2 minds.
  4. Not surprised there are no toon players in there but I'm starting to think had we signed Diouf he may have made a big improvement we could certainly do with someone making those amounts of crosses and runs. We Desparately need Enrique to get fit so we can push zog up on the left and milner on the right but knowing BS it's unlikely he'd play both in advanced positions. Top Shooter - John Carew (Aston Villa) - 17 Top Passer - Paul Scholes (Man Utd) - 478 Top Tackler - Jermaine Jenas (Tottenham) - 31 Most Dribbles & Runs - El Hadji Diouf (Bolton) - 32 Most Crosses - El Hadji Diouf (Bolton) - 82 Most Offsides - Dimitar Berbatov (Tottenham) - 16 Most Fouls - John Carew (Aston Villa) - 20 Can't believe Jenas is the 'top' tackler but they probably include when he loses the ball then misses a tackle when trying to win the ball back.
  5. What, you wouldn't take Given over Lehmann? Controversial, but no i know im going to get slated now, but i wouldnt Lehmann is a fantastic goal keeper, only his concentration lapses (lets say) let him down Ok on't agree but thats you opinion but how long do you think lehmann will go for? Given has a good 7 years at least left at the top level. Would you not take him as Lehmann's succesor, hypothetically?
  6. He'll Start arsenal away in the carling cup. Les will be on the bench ---------------------Given Beye-----Cacapa--------Rozy----Enrique ----------------------Butt -----------Geremi--------Zog ---------Martins---------------Milner -------------------Shearer Bench: Burridge, Beresford, Beardsley, Viduka, Sir Les.
  7. Hardly seems like he's wanting out or anything like that, though I would say it's a bit of a shame he can't just respect the fact that Harper is doing quite well for us at the moment and just get on with it. I'm sure the minute Harper makes a major error or suffers another ill-timed injury, Shay will be straight back in the team and won't get dislodged again unless he gets another injury himself. "Showdown" might be too strong a way of putting, but don't people remember Shay slapping in a transfer request the last time Harper got the nod ahead of him when he was fit? As far as I am concerned if Shay does want showdown talks after being dropped for one game then he isn't the man I thought he was. He should fight for his place. Don't believe it though.
  8. I like to see that even the most hardened arsenal fans are unbiased. to be honest i have seen the most of arsenal and that back three (of arsenal) really have all played really well, week in week out, out of the lot clichy, who isnt getting much recognition :S rosicky was a doubt in that team and was torn between him and zog, although he hasnt been playing ther, but to cheer u up i will change it, it's right to that really :/ oh and LEHMANN WAS A JOKE!! Thanks I feel better now. I knew lehmann was a joke. TBH everyone know Lehmann is a joke Aye waiting for tomorrow's papers main sports story. Arsenal in bid for unsettled Newcastle Keeper Arsene Wenger is ready to test Sam Allardyce's resolve with a 5M bid for Irish Star Shay Given. Given has been unhappy of late as manager Sam Allardyce decided not to play him when he was injured and then refused to drop inform Keeper Harper for 1 game. In other news The Daily Mail was voted Englands number one fictional publication.

  10. I'd say an attacking midfielder (ground breaking statement that, even when you consider the return of barton). Any where in the front 6 - someone else with pace other than Martins and to some extent zog. Maybe dm - Geremi and butt are fine for a top 7 side but if we want to break into the top 4 with this system we need to improve. The wings could improve but allardyce isn't too bothered with playing old school 442 (even when he plays 442) so it might be pointless. Edit: Can't comment on the defence until I've seen our 1st choice back 4 over a few games. Cacapa and rozehnal have been class if Enrique and Beye are the same then no changes there needed.

  12. When I saw this I thought it would be an actual comparison between the newcastle side and the england side as in the last game they played probably what Allardyce considers one of our midfielders up front and probably 6th choice for playing up top (Milner, Duke, Owen, Ameobi Martins all ahead of him) and that our strikeforce is better at the moment with the injuries for england........ which it is.
  13. Harper's pasing accuracy is 43%. Someone needs to work on distribution with him and tell him to pass to one of the centerbacks most of the time unless he's under pressure. I was also surprised by Owen having a 100% passing accuracy from 22 passes.
  14. True I'm not claiming o be accurate but we know theymust be on a few quid why else would alot of them turn down european football? Well, if we're being concerned about wages compared to other Premiership sides, then we need to quell fears. You know that the likes of West Ham, City and other formerly/currently mediocre mid-table teams are throwing rediculously large bundles of unwarranted dosh at players... why else would that calibre of player go to those teams? I'm not concerned I am just saying we brought in alot of good players. We we're building the depth. Next year we'll add the quality.
  15. True I'm not claiming o be accurate but we know theymust be on a few quid why else would alot of them turn down european football? Because it's a better league? Possibly but if Beye's comments are anything to go by he joined us because a. We gave him a package he couldn't refuse b. One of his team mates got a long term injury and he wa worried for the future(financially) as his contract only ran until the summer.
  16. Beye definately will be read his comments. Faye and Cacapa will as well as its their last major contracts. Rozy I hav no idea but it was just a guess. All I am trying to say is this season we spend most of the money on wages, building a squad and next season we will add a few but nonetheless, quality players. I think its a valid point in terms of the development of the club - we obviously have a long term plan as opposed to a plan to appease the fans.

  18. Although it looks on the face of it we have spent 26.5M or 14M Net how much have we actually spent on transfers including wages compared to other clubs. Smith, Viduka, Geremi, Cacapa, Beye, Barton and Faye will all be on hefty wages. Although it doesn'treally matter is our net spend incuding transfers more than most? I would say so even with dyer leaving. At guess I'd say they are on the following per week. Viduka-60K min - total contract-6.2M Cacapa-60K-6.2M Smith-50K-13M Geremi- hard to say but I bet its a fair few quid-50K - 7.8m Barton-50K - 13M Beye-50K based on his comments. 7.8M Rozy- 40K - 8.3m. Faye-40K-6.2M Enrique-30K-6.2M 74.7M total contract value not including bonus' Out Dyer-80K Parker-50K Bramble 25K Moore-30K Bernard-10K Sibs-10K Nobby-40K If you compare that with most you'll find we exceed them in total outlay. I think this goes to show Ashley has invested heavily (especialy if you consider the 30M investment) and now we have our squad depth I think next summer we'll start bringing in the real quality we need to push for the top 4 in coming years ahead. I know the wages will be paid over time an its not a masive initial outlay but nowadays its generally the same with transfers, in fee's being paid over a period of time.
  19. At Boro I think. Although I trust Sam's judgement on where to play him above any boro manager in recent history.
  20. Don't worry, he can't answer back. We've got them next. Play 424 I reckon. I wouldn't be all that surprised if Allardyce did....... sort of. He could go ------------------------Given or Harps - not fussed which Beye------Cacapa-----------Rozy-------Enrique --------------Butt--------------Geremi Milner---------------------------------------Zog --------------Martins---------Owen If Enrique's not fit zog lb geremi rm, milner lm and smith cm. If Beye isn't ready - Taylor
