  1. Oh well. Every cloud has a frankly continental sized silver lining.
  2. Incidentally, I couldn't believe his price went out from odds on to 6/1 on the basis of that badly translated press conference. So much so, I piled on at that price.
  3. He quite clearly has not turned us down, in fact, quite the opposite. http://www.birminghammail.net/birmingham-sport/aston-villa-fc/aston-villa-news/2012/05/19/ole-gunnar-solskjaer-i-want-to-manage-aston-villa-97319-31006416/ The stuff this morning was the BBC and SSN falling for a mistranslation of the press conference, which they subsequently went back on. Events this evening with the board of Molde are quite incredible. Leaking private conversations and so on.
  4. Maybe Rodgers realises also what a fucking mess Liverpool are. They've got no CEO, no DoF any more, no PR head, they've just sacked a bloke who was a club legend, and the owners are making no attempt whatosever to sort out a new stadium plan. What's more, they've arranged commercial loans should the club need more transfer dosh, so they're not even putting any money in. I heard that gobby cunt Dave Whelan this morning on the radio saying they went to Liverpool the other week, and it was as if there was nobody actually running the place - no directors present, owner not there, just a load of lower level "staff". They then say they're going to interview about 12 people. Imagine if you were the no 1 choice, and you get your interview, only to hear that they're intending to interview another 11 managers instead of actually investing their trust in you? The club is abysmally run at the moment, and the chances of crashing and burning are far too high for a younger manager, so I think Rodgers (who, to be honest, I suspect does well at Swansea largely on the fruits of the labours of others) did well to tell them to go and shit the bed.
  5. How long until they approach Nick Griffin, I wonder?
  6. Pas du tout, pas du tout. I just understand how MON's mind works, and when it comes to transfers, it works in a very predictable way indeed.
  7. Yes, but he's played in the UK, which is the major criteria.
  8. Good shout with Can't Control After his loan period with us, we were for about three years terrified MON would bring Can't Control back.
  9. Shortly before MON walked out, having promised to work on the wage bill and move a few unused players on, he walked into Lerner's office and said he wanted to buy McGeady. Lerner asked how much they should pay for him, and MON shouted "as much as it takes". Lerner again asked what was a reasonable figure, and suggested that if it was too high, he might want to move some players on. MON walked out without saying a word, and three or four days later, quit. True story, that. The cunt.
  10. Kevin Davies tbh. Oooh, good call. Heskey Davies Fletcher Doyle There must be a fifth entry in the "obvious MON purchases" list.
  11. That whole banners shit, really, I thought it was a bit pointless on our part, but let's remember, it was, what two banners? The time to worry is when you get relegated and nobody bats an eyelid or gives a shit.
  12. Lerner just arrived in the UK. His jet went to Oslo, then to Molde, and is coming back tomorrow - you'd assume with a passenger. I'm aware this sounds like a Spurs ITK and their council of ITKs pronouncing the future, but it's off someone on VillaSquawk who has access to aviation info and works at Bham airport. There's a 45 minute documentary on Solksjaer on youtube ('Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - Gunning For Glory') which is actually pretty good viewing. I watched it and after could entirely see why Lerner would think of him.

Like i said - one of our players tweeted just after MON walked out that he had been "gutted" when he didn't get the Liverpool job when Hodgson got it. He'd snap their hand off if they offered it to him now
  14. Me too. http://cdn.randomfunnypicture.com/wp2/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/ice-cube-ak47-fishing-pole.jpg
  15. Would you like a racist insult with your burger? how do you want your burger, sir, rare, medium or BLACK AS THE ACE OF SPADES?
  16. I wonder which of Stephen Fletcher or Kevin Doyle MON will sign at Sunderland I would be utterly gobsmacked if it wasn't one of those two or Heskey.
  17. I dunno. Being positive, it shows they're putting some thought into it.
  18. I reckon that's a "we're going for a young manager" message. Which means the likes of Martinez, Lambert, Rodgers etc. To me, makes perfect sense - both for Liverpool and Villa to look there. To your average Liverpool fan, who still thinks they've got the stature they had in the 1980s, that's disgraceful.
  19. This is good http://twitter.com/#!/rawk_meltdown nonsense from RAWK in meltdown posted there.
  20. Which prob means Solksjaer, but knowing Lerner's ability to fuck up appointments, he's probably going to see Egil Olsen.
  21. Villa are only looking at young, up and coming managers who will try to build something. There was some insanity about Mick McCarthy yesterday, I saw. Nonsense. They've also ruled out (in local paper) a DoF appointment, so that's the Avram Grant nonsense sorted. Bloke on VillaTalk works in aviation, every time we've had a managerial change, he's kept people informed as to where Lerner is. When we appointed Houllier, Lerner went to see him at his house in Corsica, he told us he'd flown there. Last time it was McLeish at his holiday place in Sardinia (meaning, somewhat amazingly, we flew across Europe to interview him, AND gave him the fucking job AND paid compensation to get him - amazing), he told us Lerner had flown there. Anyway, this afternoon, he's flying to Norway.
  22. If they approached him, I'd have money on him going. Seriously.
  23. Quality. I did like this on RTG
  24. But he's a Sunderland supporter marra. Ha ha Seriously, though, MON is a MON supporter first and foremost, as we discovered. He wouldn't give them a second thought. I'd love him to go there. It'd be too funny.
  25. Incidentally, MON was gutted not to get approached by Liverpool when he was still with us, the time they appointed Hodgson. This was let slip by one of our players on Twitter. if they approached him, he'd definitely take it.
