Newcastle United 1-0 Blackburn Rovers - 15/09/2020

The winner of the next round face Newport County or Watford away. -
I doubt people are basing their assessment on one game. More likely one season. I'd love him to come good but even when he had played off another striker or on the left he's looked mediocre at best. Prove us all wrong Joelinton, we'd be very happy if you did.

They want a striker to be in and around the penalty box getting on the end of chances.

Joelinton has been poor since day one at NUFC. He hasn't hid in so far as he has made himself available for pretty much every game he's been here. He could have played up a knock to get out of some games but he hasn't. People say it's a confidence thing. He couldn't play in front of "the demanding Newcastle crowd" but when the stadium is empty he's exactly the same.

Interesting to see how he does. I presume Eibar have signed him to be one of their first choice strikers?
-
The whole transfer makes no sense. How come he cost a £40m transfer fee? Based on his career up to coming to Newcastle at least £25m of that fee could only be for 'future potential'. Who scouted him and thought he could play as a lone striker in the Premier League? How does he go from being a supporting player to the forwards for Hoffenheim to number 9 at Newcastle? Based on what I've seen I couldn't tell you what his best position would be. Maybe as a number 10 behind the striker but we've got better options ahead of him for that role.

Bournemouth's reward is an away trip to Man City in the next round.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54067171 According to the BBC: - NUFC 36% Possession 5 Shots 2 Shots on Target 3 Corners 4 Fouls Blackburn 64% Possession 14 Shots 3 Shots on Target 10 Corners 12 Fouls -
So has Joelinton got an identical twin brother? NUFC thought they'd bought the brother who plays football but there must have been a switch done. No? Well his Hoffenheim team mates must have done some spectacular work in games to make Joelinton look good enough for the NUFC scout/s to be interested in him (especially for £40m).

Can you go to https://carabaocup.live/ and login on a PS4? Does the PS4 have a web browser? I can't remember. -
Absolutely there has been a change in tone and content over the last few months. I would guess that the owner of the account is either being fed snippets from an insider, or they have allowed their account to be used by someone else who is connected. Or it's the same person as before, they got a few vague tweets right and are now riding on the ITK wave. Likely this I'd agree if @MoneyMikeAshley tweeted a lot and 90% of the tweets were fluff. They don't tweet very much and each tweet (the one's which aren't obvious joke tweets) seems to turn out to be uncannily accurate. It's okay to be sceptical, I don't blame you. Either way I enjoy their tweets.

I think M. Longstaff is injured. He wasn't in the West Ham training pictures. -

Will Bruce play his strongest side or will he rotate the squad? I can't imagine Carroll will be able to play again so soon. Gillespie, Ritchie, Krafth, Fraser were unused subs versus West Ham. Joelinton, S.Longstaff and Almiron came on. You'd imagine a few of them will start against Blackburn. I wonder if any of the fringe players like Atsu, Murphy, Yedlin, etc will play? It would cup tie them which NUFC may not want to do if looking to move them on to English teams. Fernandez and Lascelles will probably play again as the other centre backs aren't fit (apart from maybe Clark who was in the training pictures). -
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54038554 All the unshaven, long haired guys look the same. They even have a photo of the goal and Carroll is in the background.
