  1. Spot the odd one out: - Scott Parker £12m Wayne Bridge £10m Craig Bellamy £14m Roque Santa Cruz £18m Shay Given £3m
  2. The subject title should be changed. "N'Zogbia to PSG?" isn't very accurate. "N'Zogbia wanting to leave again" would be more fitting. I'd be amazed if Arsenal wanted N'Zogbia. He's correct in saying we are going nowhere but he's not exactly covered himself in glory on the pitch himself. Him and Martins are probably our only pacey players that actually shoot at goal. Unfortunately I have no hope that the club could replace N'Zogbia with anyone never mind someone as good (by which I mean slightly above average).
  3. I'd be surprised if we managed any deal where we swap players. Not only has the player leaving got to agree terms with the buying club, the player/s coming the other way would have to agree to come to us.
  4. Hope that's true. £3m for Ferguson who is reportedly struggling this season? I'd rather we took our chances on a young player like we did with Guthrie.
  5. Don't most of the players get sent to the hospital for a 'scan' when they pick up an injury? If so, is it the hospital doctors faults and not NUFC medical staff?
  6. Aye, but if all the rumoured signings of the last couple of windows happened we would have about 237 players. That's sort of my point. 99.9% of rumours are bullshit.
  7. If all the rumoured Newcastle outgoings happened (Given, Barton, Enrique, Xisco, Butt, Owen, Geremi, etc) we would be fielding our reserves for the rest of the season.
  8. I hate it when clubs steal another clubs songs and change the lyrics e.g. When the Mags (Saints) go marching in. The worst though has to be the Man U fans with their song to the tune of The Blaydon Races.
  9. I think it's amazing considering the ill-feeling for the current regime. Exactly. I think it's the final hurrah before the mass desertion next season. This season may well be the last straw that has finally broken the camel's back.
  10. A lot of good posts that echo my feelings. The credit crunch has screwed us over more than most. We have a tight fisted owner (when it comes to spending money on players) who has seen his personal net worth fall massively. The value of Sterling has nosedived against the Euro meaning that players outside of the UK are now more expensive. The number of fans paying to watch Newcastle at St. James' was well below 52,000 at the start of this season. That was when most people we're full of hope under Keegan. Next season the attendance figures will take a hammering. This will be because of the credit crunch, people being sick of paying top money to watch mediocre football and most Newcastle fans having no hope for the future. What do we have to look forward to? Relegation? Years of fighting relegation? The future's shite.
  11. ITV, Setanta, Sky and the BBC (to a lesser extent but they still always pick top 4 ties when they can) only care about ratings. We all know Man U will almost always be picked by one of the channels. The 'Big' clubs get the big viewing figures.
  12. By the future I mean from now onwards. Our short term target is to not to get relegated. Ashley's medium term goal seems to be to sell the club. Long term depends on the short and medium goals.
  13. Viduka is never going to get a new contract and Owen is 99.9% certain to leave. I'd imagine Martins will be getting itchy feet if we are knocking around the bottom of the league at the end of the season. Ameobi may be going from 4th choice to 1st choice striker.
  14. I agree to some extent but the noises coming out of the club aren't exactly positive when it comes to transfers in and out. Even if we don't get relegated the future looks mediocre to bleak.
  15. Even in the story on NUFC.co.uk about Ameobi signing a new contract he mentions getting fit. It is funny how Ameobi was out in the cold under Keegan but Kinnear is allowed to sign him up to a three year contract. I guess Mike values Kinnear's opinion more than Keegan's. Also, does this not make you think the club will be keeping Kinnear longer than the end of the season?
  16. Does anyone think it's going to be bright? We've got an owner who will sell if he gets what he considers to be a 'fair price'. Due to the Credit Crunch this is unlikely to happen for at least two years. He doesn't seem interested in investing in the squad. We will be lucky if we finish mid-table for the foreseeable future. If we aren't relegated this season I'd be surprised if we get 40K turning up to watch games next season. If we get relegated the club will be lucky to get 30K turning up. The likes of Owen, Given and N'Zogbia want to leave. The likes of Ameobi are getting 3 year contracts. Has anyone got any hope for the future? This thread was 'inspired' by reading this: - http://www.true-faith.co.uk/tf/editorials.nsf/LookupUNID/2E115C310F635F17802575340056A40B?OpenDocument
  17. Putting aside people's opinions of Ameobi's playing skills, surely his injury record means NUFC should have thought twice about signing him up on a new contract. He seems to get a hell of a lot of injures. Well, if we get relegated I wouldn't be surprised if Ameobi and Carroll were our strike force next season.
  18. Man City paid £10m for Wayne Bridge. He's a left-back who has hardly got a game for the last few years. They also bought him off Chelsea who are still probably the 2nd richest club in the world. If Chelsea managed to extract £10m from Man City for Bridge who was a fringe player for them then we should be able to get a lot more for Given. How on Earth Given can only be worth £8m compared to Bridge's £10m I'll never know.
  19. If Man City are willing to pay a reported £12m for Scott Parker, Given is worth upwards of £20m.
  20. Hence my comment: - I noticed a lot of posts about Xisco in other threads and thought we may as well have one thread about him (as per the mega Luque thread of the past).
  21. Maybe the problem is that our midfield can't actually attack. Was Lafita basing that on one season though? If you read Xisco's stats he only really had season 2007-08 in La Liga A (which looked like a good season for him). Most of his other goals and appearances were in La Liga B.
  22. The comparison between Xisco and Luque is Luque was treated in a similar way to how Xisco seems to be getting treated now by Newcastle. I'm not comparing the actual player's abilities.
  23. Some will blame Kinnear for not playing him but for all we know he may well correct in his assessment of Xisco. A lot of people wanted to give Luque a chance but he really was shit. Maybe Xisco is too? At the very least Xisco should be playing regularly in the reserves.
  24. If Given really does want to leave I hope he is forced into putting in a transfer request. There is no way a player who wants to leave a club should get a 'loyalty bonus'. He may have been loyal for the past 11 years but a loyalty bonus is supposed to be for when a club wants to sell a player who hasn't asked (directly or otherwise) to leave. It was disgusting when Barton wanted a loyalty bonus off Man City (which NUFC ended up paying for MCFC like the mug NUFC is).
