  1. I can understand players not wanting to come to us on a permanent transfer while our ownership/manager situation is up in the air but we should be able to get players in on loan. We may even be able to loan players from top teams. We're no threat to them. Having said that, Gonzalez uses up one of our allowed loan players.
  2. I agree to a certain extent. I'm not having a go at JK, I'm having a go a Duff.
  3. I saw that interview. In the past Shay has been quick to rubbish talk of him leaving. He hasn't this time. Can't blame him to be honest. The sooner the ownership situation is sorted out the better.
  4. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/premierleague/newcastle/3477335/Joe-Kinnear-should-be-permanent-Newcastle-manager-says-Damien-Duff-Football.html Good results? The win against Aston Villa was a good result. The win against West Brom was very hard work against a side we expect to beat (especially at home). The draw with Wigan was a disappointment. The draw with Everton was good if you consider the bad of going 2-0 down. The draw with Man City was good after being a man and a goal down (but we were 2-1 up only to concede). The defeats against Sunderland and Fulham were bad. How low our players expectations are these days. I suppose they are good results compared to when Chris Hughton was in charge.
  5. Like I said in the Barton injury thread, if we're going to lose we might as well go down fighting. At least with Jonas and Duff Chelsea will have to have people run after them. Unless Geremi is picking out Owen in the penalty box from the half way line I can't see him troubling them at all.
  6. I'd go with: - Given Beye Colo Taylor N'Zogbia Jonas Butt Duff Owen Ameobi Martins
  7. At least we'll lose 7-3 instead of 4-0 Does anyone expect us to get anything at Chelsea? Might as well go with Owen behind Martins and Ameobi. I prefer that to forlornly trying to stop Chelsea scoring and when they inevitably do we fall like a pack of cards. Better to go down fighting in my book.
  8. http://www.journallive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2008/11/17/warming-bench-starts-to-test-owen-s-patience-61634-22271919/ Would Owen be any happier on a top 4 clubs bench? It looks like he wants to be a starter where ever he goes.
  9. We did but he chose Middlesbrough. If memory serves, I think Barton's name came up as a reason for not coming to Newcastle. None of our midfielders are renowned for scoring goals. It's a joke really. Strikers, no pressure but if you don't score no one will.
  10. Shola has had a miraculous recovery from the hamstring injury 'physioroom' said he had and is no longer on the injured list: - http://www.physioroom.com/news/english_premier_league/epl_injury_table.php Barton is now listed as injured (Knee Injury - no return date) but hardly anyone has commented on that actual injury compared to Shola's phantom injury: - http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php?topic=57736.0
  11. He moved out about two weeks ago.
  12. http://www.nufc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10278~1455830,00.html The tackle wasn't shown on 'MOTD' highlights so I guess it showed Barton getting taken out by Cattermole (the BBC can't show anything that would show Barton as the victim). Big loss if the injury is serious.
  13. All the power is with Owen. He won't leave in January unless the deal suits him. Unless one of the top four come in for him in January and he likes the terms he may as well wait until Summer.
  14. Hopefully he'll go on his "win a new contract" scoring run when (if) he comes back. Those goals will come in handy. Of course we won't give him a new contract but don't tell him that while he's goal scoring to try to win one.
  15. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2008/11/14/sebastien-bassong-pushing-for-first-team-return-72703-22257794/
  16. Despite being in our shitest predicament for years, Sunderland still manage to find a way to keep themselves below us, cheers boys. I think it was posted on here that some Mackem was saying on a Mackem site that "Newcastle's owner is trying to sell them, they have an interim manager after Keegan walked and they have had a terrible start and yet we are below them!" That cheered me up no end.
  17. If it turns out to be true make sure you enjoy the Mackems reaction. They enjoyed ours when Keegan left.
  18. He pretty much said he'd never go abroad again after he returned from Real Madrid. He is an almost guaranteed starter with us when fit. If he went to Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool or Arsenal he'd probably be at best used on a squad rotation basis. Which will get him back into the England team? Occasional run outs in a top team or constant appearances for a middling team? Like you say, I can't see any of the top four wanting him except as a 'cheap' luxury. I don't know if Owen would be happy to be a third choice striker. Aston Villa, Tottenham and Man City are possibilities. He is also said to like it at Newcastle (except for our league position).
  19. January Transfer Window He can talk to other clubs in January. Newcastle would get a fee for him if he left in January. Newcastle don't have to sell him unless they want to. Even if another club offers a fee acceptable to Newcastle Owen doesn't have to join them if he doesn't want to. As a free agent in the Summer He can leave in the Summer at the end of his contract. Newcastle won't get a penny for him. Owen will be able to go to whoever wants him. As he won't cost a transfer fee he will be in line to ask for bigger wages, signing on fee, etc. He could get an injury between February and the Summer that would but a move on hold. He will sign a new contract Newcastle could get taken over by ambitious new owners who sell their vision to him and he signs a new contract. I say 'As a free agent in the Summer' when he has a free choice. Personally I'd rather keep him until then anyway. Any goals he may score for us may be more important than the money we'd get for him in January.
  20. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/premierleague/3387964/Newcastle-Uniteds-Joey-Barton-in-clear-as-FA-and-Aston-Villa-back-down-Football.html I notice a lot of websites and tomorrows papers are leaving that bold bit out, almost implying that although Villa haven't lodged a complaint, Barton did make racist comments. As predicted.
  21. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/premierleague/astonvilla/3439611/Gabby-Agbonlahor-waiting-for-Newcastles-Joey-Barton-to-apologise-after-spat-Football.html What does he expect? "I'm sorry I touched your nose and said something about your lip when you were goading me and pushing your bottom lip out at me."
  22. He was poor yesterday. He kept getting caught in possession.
  23. http://www.journallive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2008/11/10/joe-blasts-mickey-mouse-officiating-61634-22217231/
  24. I agree but what happens if Sterling recovers against the Dollar to $2 per £1 again in the next couple of years? That would be a major disadvantage of having an American owner. If I had a choice I'd rather the club was owned by an Arab. Moneywise, they'll be ok until the oil runs out.
