  1. My post count is zero even though I have posted.
  2. To go 2 goals down is bad but to come back and score 2 is a positive result. At 0-2 we'd all have taken 2-2. NUFC now have 11 days before our next match. Hopefully the players who are still fit will be able to 'recharge their batteries' . Also it's more time for some of the injured players to recover and be ready to come back in 11 days. Regardless of what you think of them we are low on numbers and Duff, Bramble and Babayaro are due back in that time. It's also 11 days until the transfer window closes.
  3. Who says he was watching Liverpool players? I'd rather he was looking to loan Arsenal players.
  4. SKY TV is good if you like seeing close ups of Managers faces or of 'characters' in the crowd while the game you have paid to watch goes on. They also annoy me by going to close up shots so you can't see the whole field of play. The player will make a pass and you'll have no idea who he's trying to pass to until they cut back to the wide shot. How many times is action missed because of replays that can wait until half time/full time? You also have to listen to morons (commentators) trotting out their biased views and the same old lines.
  5. I'd have him on loan as he can play left or right wing. Milner could stay on the right and SWP could play on the left as N'Zogbia/Duff are both injured at the moment. If he's not in form drop him when N'Zogbia/Duff are fit. He'd be cover for Milner on the right. He could also be back up for Martins.
  6. The figure of £5m was the one doing the rounds in the Summer. That would be good as the opener. We could also offer to take Shevchenko on loan until the end of the season saying we could train him up for the Premiership for them.
  7. Bridge admits mental struggle: - http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=439916&CPID=8&clid=8&lid=3&title=Bridge+admits+mental+struggle (Sorry but I don't know how to shorten links, Mods feel free to edit it) Reading that story, my first thought is "Well you shouldn't have signed that extended contract". My second thought is "Let's try and get him again".
  8. To be fair they scored in the first minute, which was going to be played anyway. True but the announcement of 4 minutes would have been a physiological boost for Man U (We've got another 4 minutes to find a winner) and the opposite for Aston Villa (we've got to hold on for 4 minutes when we were expecting 1 or 2).
  9. Stowell Street (Newcastle's China Town) is right next to St James' Park. Plenty of Asian people around. Travel tips: - http://www.newcastle.gov.uk/core.nsf/level2?readform&ID=100009~200096
  10. I see Fergie has given the Referee his magic watch. 4 minutes extra time even though no player has been injured during the whole game. They've won now anyway so he might as well tell the ref to blow the whistle.
  11. During yesterday's Liverpool V Arsenal game Motson asked Mark Lawrenson how he thought Crouch had done during his time at Liverpool. Now we all know Lawrenson is biased for Liverpool but even he said something like "he's done ok but not great". Regarding height, most players are less than 6ft so when anyone is 6ft or over they look like giants compared to the other players. By the way, the purpose of this poll was to see who NUFC fans would prefer if given the choice of Crouch or Bent. You may prefer someone else but that wasn't what I was asking. It's just for fun.
  12. Shola is not 6'2", he is way bigger than that - dot cock don't know their own players if you ask me. I saw him bumming around the executive boxes at the Man U game when I was at work, and he towered over my puny 6'1" frame. He was ducking to get through the doors man! Exactly. Their stats say Emre weighs more than Shola! They may as well not bother with the stats. No Crouch voters have given a reason yet Bent voters have. As for people saying neither striker I did say "Based purely on their attributes as players who you would prefer at NUFC if we could get one or the other (Ignore all other factors like could NUFC afford them, how much they would cost, their availablity, how likely it is they'd join or anything else, etc)?".
  13. How do you mean "I'm trying to find some examples for FIFA 07"? The computer game?
  14. Hear Lee Dixon banging on about the Arsenal players on loan at Birmingham? How come when Shearer is on he's neutral but all the other 'experts' and as biased as hell?
  15. "Looks over 6ft on TV" compared to who? Anyway, I'd say he was 6ft maximum. I don't believe half the stats given out. According to the NUFC.co.uk Squad Profiles section the 6' 2" Shola Ameobi only weighs 12st. I'm 2 inches taller than Ameobi and I weigh 2 stone more. Muscle weighs more than fat and Shola carrys quite a lot of muscle so I'd say that weight stat was very wrong. The same applies for all the other profiles e.g. the 5' 7" Emre weighs 12st 8lbs!
  16. Yes, and I would think he still is. For the people who have voted for Crouch it would be interesting if you posted your reasons for choosing him.
  17. I've stood in the same room as 'Big Al' Shearer and he didn't look very tall to me (although admittedly I am 6ft 4). Most footballers aren't very tall.
  18. Based purely on their attributes as players who you would prefer at NUFC if we could get one or the other (Ignore all other factors like could NUFC afford them, how much they would cost, their availablity, how likely it is they'd join or anything else, etc)? I'd choose Bent. He's 5ft 11 which is only one inch shorter than Shearer. He has scored a lot of goals in one and a half seasons of Premiership football.
  19. Bent is 5"11. 'Big Al' Shearer is 6ft. Not much difference. Also, Bent must be good at holding the ball up as he plays up front on his own a lot of the time for Charlton. He is injured for around another 5 weeks. I'd rather Charlton held on to him though and then we can see who gets relegated at the end of the season. Ashton and Bent may be available to choose from.
  20. I'd be happy if we got some players in on loan with the option to buy at the end of the loan period.
  21. I was reading this article by a Motivational guru: - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/fa_cup/6222777.stm "Look at the dwell time - free-kicks, corners, throw-ins. Bolton have done a lot of work on this. When they win a throw-in they don't wait for the opposition to get organised. Far better to exploit the opposition's disorganisation as quickly as possible." I think this has been a failing of Newcastle's for a long time. More often than not we seem to lose the ball from throw-ins. The person waiting to throw the ball always seems to wait until everyone is marked before they think about throwing the ball. Also, do we have nobody who can throw the ball a decent distance? Our usual tactic seems to be to throw the ball to the nearest man who will lump it upfield.
  22. Agree. This sort of story is what is so annoying about the media and their transfer stories. If nothing in their story turns out to be true there is no comeback. They'll be printing around 100 stories like this until the window closes. Milner is a permanent fixture in the side at the moment. I'd be very surprised if we wanted to sell Milner (who is 21). Roeder and Shepherd have already said in December that Milner isn't going anywhere.

    "United"...

I think it's annoying to all teams that have United in their name. It's just part of the media hype. For example, most football fans couldn't give a toss about the title race unless their team is involved. Apparently according to Sky and the BBC we're all supposed to be enthralled about who is going to win between Man U and Chelsea. I couldn't care less because its not Newcastle.
  24. I'd take your point on Kluivert if he'd done well after leaving Newcastle but he didn't.
