I guess we'll have to loan him out. Strange that all the players bought specifically for the Championship (e.g. Hanley, Sels, Lazaar, etc) were given so well paid, long contracts. Unless NUFC thought they'd be stuck in the Championship, why the long contracts? Why the big wages? Surely a Rafa managed NUFC would have been an attractive prospect for these players, meaning we didn't have to pay more than 'normal' Championship wages? The fees paid last Summer are less than this Summer so you wouldn't think they'd be that hard to offload.

It's interesting to see how fans of Premiership teams view the Championship. Those West Ham fans call it a pub league but the top teams in the Championship are probably as good as the bottom third of the Premiership. The top 6 or 7 of the Premiership are a world apart from the top teams of the Championship. The rest of the Premiership? Not so much.

Newcastle United transfer rumours in the press
LoveItIfWeBeatU replied to Kaizero's topic in Football
Top scorer in a place that doesn't even exist. Isreal? No it's not real, it's made up. -
According to the club he'd been suffering a sickness bug when he played Huddersfield. If we binned off players after a poor performance we wouldn't have anyone in the squad. I'm more concerned about his mind problem of not 100% trusting his body has fully recovered from hamstrings problems when the medical says he has. I'd sell him for £20m if we got a Premiership experienced striker who was a regular goal scorer in his place (either on loan or purchase). Will we though?

Get rid of Gayle but keep Mitro? Gayle scored 23 goals last season in 32 appearances. He'd more than likely have been the top scorer in the Championship if he hadn't been injured for a lot of the season. Amazing that people have written him off as not being suited to the Premiership and that he can't play up front on his own. He's played 2 Premiership games and he's not 100% fit (in his mind if not physically).

It would be fine if every incident was treated in the same way. They're not though. NUFC always get the shit end of the stick when it comes to FA decisions. Like Dummett and Shelvey last season? The FA's ref sent them off, we lost then the FA overturned the decisions. Generally I think we get a raw deal off the officials. I have no problem with Shelvey getting sent off for what he did. It's more the fact that we rarely get awarded penalties, fouls against us aren't treated the same as fouls by us. I often get the impression the refs don't like us.

No club mentioned as wanting to pay £20m for him, no obvious reason for him to be "disillusioned" and no name as to who would replace him. I'm sure a lot of good players will be loaned out over the next week. Will we be able to get one more "guaranteed" to score goals in the premiership than Gayle?
-
Why would Gayle be "Disillusioned"? He's started every game he's been fit for.
-
Rumours of possibly selling Gayle in the media today. We'd have to have someone lined up to do that. Strange to sell him. He's got an issue in believing himself that he's fully recovered from his hamstring injury. Don't see how he can pass a medical if he doesn't trust his own body.
-
Some people constantly defend Mitro but write off Gayle? When it comes to converting chances I back Gayle over Mitro any day. Maybe if Gayle starts doing stupid fouls he'll get more fan support here?
-
Quite possibly 2 reds in 2 as well. That just makes him more lovable to some of our fans.

Newcastle United transfer rumours in the press

Anyone still turning their nose up at loans without the option to buy? I'll be happy if we loan players we have no chance of buying as that will mean they're good players which is what we need. I expect a lot of moves over the next few days. Hopefully we'll get what we need. -
Usain Bolt did his hamstring in running less than 25 metres.

The games should be played at 4:15am too. What a farce football has become. -

I'm not a fan of Mitro but I wouldn't loan him out. I'd have sold him earlier in the window but there's no guarantee we could replace him now. I'd still sell him if a loan was sorted for a better striker before the transfer window closes.
-
If there are plenty of teams wanting Krul why don't they bid for him? They aren't willing to pay a fee for him? Krul's turned down all offers? Rafael Benitez doesn't agree with you. I'll go with Rafa's opinion considering he sees Krul in training and will have had detailed reports from Krul's time on loan.
-
Other clubs probably won't view his year off very favourably. It will almost certainly mean he'd end up moving to a club with a lower stature than if he played. I doubt NUFC want a huge fee for him. Maybe he's turning down permanent transfer offers, banking on getting loaned out for his final season so he keeps the salary.
-
Krul knows he isn't in Rafa's plans but he wants to stay (and not play for a year) all to ensure he gets the final year of salary from his NUFC contract? He must think himself that he's well past his best (and won't get another salary paying anywhere near what he currently gets) if he's willing to take a year off. He's only 29 years old so maybe he thinks a year off won't harm his chances of getting a new club in a year when he can leave for free?
-
Have people not learned from all the previous premature celebrations? Riviere and Haidara are still at NUFC after we'd supposedly moved them on. #Wait
-
Even if the ref hadn't see it Shelvey would have been done after the game on video evidence. What an absolute moron.

The way the price of players has gone it's difficult to imagine who could afford to buy NUFC and invest enough. Barely any clubs make a profit. I'd hope the club wasn't bought by a group looking to make money. Unless it was a group like the owners of Man City I can't see it happening. Buying a football club doesn't make much business sense.
