  1. Local station is choosing to run their weekly highlight shows over this I hate these motherfuckers buying exclusive TV and internet rights and only showing Man U games and matches with Korean players in them. When is the Premier League going to come out of the stone age and allow me to pay ridiculous sums of money to watch matches legally?
  2. I hate that we've entered another one of those times where "Korean" automatically means "North Korea"

I think I'd take Pardew for another three years if it means we won something
  4. Well, glad to see a Korean playing in the semis at least. Meh.
  5. Kind of sad that if we win this there's going to be absolutely nothing that matters to look forward to for the rest of the season. Then I realize that's what it's usually like for us. Last year was the aberration.
  6. Reminds me of me playing football so much

Obviously from a fan's perspective, the correct tactic is always "play attacking, positive football for ninety minutes," because that's what we want to see. But sometimes it's not the best way to get a result. There are matches, particularly in two-legged elimination ties, where you have to "craft" the win like Pardew did today. Honestly I'm surprised because I thought this level of sophistication was beyond him. I'm going to bookend this by saying that I still think Pardew is pretty boring and would look to replace him if possible, just to pre-empt the instinctive abuse.

Absolutely. I'd definitely rather his first instinct when he's unsure be to just go for it rather than thinking "meh, I'm probably offside. Should just get back in line so the people on N-O won't hate me."

    Hatem Ben Arfa

It's amazing how when there's only one defender between him and goal you just automatically assume he'll get clear shot. Was already bracing myself for whether the shot would be on target or not when he cut inside. Didn't even think about the poor lad marking him
  10. Should definitely have started today. Even if we were trying to contain them early, we still needed at least one creative outlet on the pitch.

I'm still bracing for the news that he's re-re-re-aggravated his injury and we won't see him till 2025
  12. Have him fill in on occasion and he'll do a decent job. About as useful as a fourth choice centerback gets.

Nobody wins football matches without luck. We could have not hit the post twice in the corresponding fixture.

That's not football though is it. Contain another team when you have to win 2-0. I'll give my two cents about it and say he's in the know that he's incapable of managing this team offensively and therefore hoped to nick a goal and put pressure on them with the help of the fans. I don't agree with his approach or if his philosophy if he has any, but I'm starting to realize that he himself understands he's nothing more than an average manager and leaves everything down to occasional luck. Benfica are an excellent attacking team and I don't think we would've been able to stop them from scoring an away goal while putting pressure on them for 90 minutes. Given our limitations, the best chance we had was always going to be creating a window of opportunity to win the game rather than just going in all blood and thunder. The plan almost worked. It's harsh to call it fundamentally flawed.

Tactics were spot on today except for playing with Bigirimana from the start. I understand we wanted to contain them early but he just wasn't up to the occasion. Almost, almost worked. Would've regained a lot of respect for him if it did.
  16. In the end, they're a good side. Did our best, not quite up to snuff. Can only wish we didn't go batshit insane in the first leg.
  17. Feel dead inside. Sigh, guess we can't win in extra time every week.
  18. Plan seems to be to take it slow early and attack them later when they're tired. Unsure how wise that is.
  19. Fuck Sunderland. We could be in the Semifinals of a major trophy. I'm reasonably sure we're safe so the small-time fuckers can have their three points if we have to choose between one or the other.

Thing is his wages have been already inflated massively thanks to QPR and footballers rarely take a voluntary wage cut. That probably prices us out.

At this point I'd like to see him sacked just so we can put this thread out of its misery
