  1. If anyone had any intention whatsoever of paying over a hundred million for him they could have done so at any point after he stopped training with us.
  2. The fact that nobody else even thought about jumping into this extended transfer saga should be a huge red flag in terms of how he’s rated across Europe.

I’ll preemptively take it as a sign of good character that he didn’t go on strike to join Bayern.
  4. There is literally not room in the squad for another midfielder unless Willock or Miley leave. Just get a striker in and its mission accomplished. Simple as that.
  5. Yes but I will happily take the copium tor the next 24 hours
  6. If we have another striker lined up we will have salvaged a very good summer under extremely challenging circumstances. Can only wait and see.
  7. Okay, this better be fucking true now
  8. Basically pre-posted my thoughts on this a few hours ago and I hope it turns out to be correct.
  9. And I think that’s a fine outcome. It’s the “replacing the corpse of Wilson with nothing” part that hurts.
  10. Yeah I mean at the end of the day if Eddie wants him gone and the players want him gone then I want him gone too. (I realize I am relying very heavily on your itk stuff in my assumption that the above is true but oh well you seem like a nice guy).
  11. It’s very obvious from Howe’s public statements that he wants Isak gone imo. I’m sure he’d like a replacement if that happens, but I don’t think he wants to coach Isak ever again.

don’t you dare even suggest it
  13. Orenstein’s sources will be from the Liverpool side and I’m sure they’ve been “confident” they’d get him for two months now.
  14. Because we trust our scouting and we think Isak announcing a knee op next week is a far more probable risk than Woltemade turning out to be Hojlund II? Just because you already have high risk exposure doesn’t mean you just go “fuck it” and pile on more and more risk.
  15. The thing is, we’re at the financial level where if any one of our 50m+ signings is actually shit, we’re fucked for a decade anyway. Regardless of Isak.
  16. I suppose there’s a small possibility that we have another striker deal all signed and sealed and it’s just contingent on Isak being sold. That’s the one scenario where we may bring in someone tomorrow. Would have to be someone who’s already surplus to requirements at their current club though.
  17. My life’s ambition is to go into a deadline day thinking “yeah we’re good. I don’t care if we do anything or not.”
  18. Every athlete has lingering issues with their body that they don’t bother fixing because careers are short and they want to maximize their earnings. Once you make the decision to get an op, it’s essentially impossible to prove that there’s zero medical justification. Kyrie threatened to do this when he got the Cavs to trade him to Boston, and Isak is at least as dumb if not more.
  19. He could choose to get elective surgery to correct his niggly injury from last season and we’d have essentially zero recourse.
  20. I know that it’s not high enough that we can accept even the slightest risk of allowing 130m to turn into zero. We are only two summers removed from being forced to sell our two best young players because that was the only way to avoid having to sell Bruno or someone similar.
  21. They won’t have to tap up our players when we’re forced to put them in the market ourselves to make the books balance.
  22. Would be happy with any warm body to be backup imo. Would’ve taken Vardy.
  23. Exactly. We absolutely cannot “let him rot.” We’re basically guaranteeing no new signings next window that way.
  24. Edwards might as well be on N-O posting in this thread for all the insight he’s offering.
