The 30m price is irrelevant, as it was a price negotiated the summer prior. If Wolves had bought him on the open market from a different PL club this summer, he would have cost 40-50m I imagine.
-
Which is a discussion between the clubs, not a discussion with the player. Player gets the same amount of money either way. I suppose you would have to ask him "do you want to come here?" at least
-
75m for that price we might as well just double it and buy their entire club.
-
Why would you need to agree personal terms with the player at all if you’re signing him on loan?
-
Who cares they have functionally infinite headroom anyway.
-
Move on to what in the position we are in, we will be quoted 50m+ for every single striker we ask for. If we're going to have to pay that anyway, may as well pay it for the least bad striker we can feasibly get. Have to think of this as the modern day, rich man's version of the Chris Wood signing. We are desperate and unfortunately there is a tax for desperation.
-
Wait till you see how bad the bid we actually get accepted is going to be.
-
Yeah I just don’t think we want him (although that may change depending on our level of desperation). If we offered what we offered for JSL he’d be on the pitch already.
-
If we can’t get JSL just buy this guy. No striker should be able to move from Europe to the PL over the next week without us hijacking
-
Well sign a striker. It’s just that none of us will like the price tag, and may not even be too excited about who that striker is full stop.
-
Improved contacts almost never have actual upside for the club, you’re mostly just burning guaranteed years by converting them to higher salary and then maybe even adding some post-prime years where he’ll underperform the contract at the end. The only reason to do it is if you need to keep the player happy. Looking for upside is thinking about it the wrong way.
-
I mean frankly we should have just signed DCL on a free or something to give us someone to play for a few weeks and hedge against the absolute worst case outcomes. But on some level I don't blame the club for assuming that it couldn't possibly be this bad.
-
I’m sure there’s a number somewhere between 45 and 60 where it’s just too much money and they’d drive him here themselves. Despite all this talk about replacements, it’s not as if they can’t field a team without him or anything. They have an out-and-out striker and signed another dude who can play there. They’re not as messed up as we are
-
If it really gets to the absolute worse case scenario, I imagine we’d just hoy 50m at Wissa or something and get him in on the last day. We won’t let the window close without a striker, even if the price will objectively be a mistake.
-
By the end of this we’ll have successfully unsettled every starting striker in the league and yet somehow not bought any of them
-
Sure why not who needs strikers anyway
-
The initial link when it was reported a few days ago that Sorloth wanted out of Madrid was with Napoli I think.
-
Napoli going for Hojlund, presumably clearing the decks for us to sign this 30-year-old Norwegian whom I had never heard of prior to today but now desperately want.
-
I am so beyond caring about AFCON. Zero strikers for six games >>>>>> Zero strikers for thirty-six games.

https://www.football-espana.net/2025/08/19/atletico-madrid-looking-to-sell-star-forward-before-the-end-of-the-transfer-window I was googling his name and apparently the asking price is only 35 million Euros!? Fuck that, here's 50 million pounds for your troubles. Hand him over please.
-
Is he a striker? Yes. Has he scored a goal before? Yes. I'm sold, pay 50m for him.
-
He could have plausibly seen some game time as emergency cover and I doubt we're getting much money for this, so the impetus for loaning him out would appear to be that we think we need the additional squad registration slot. I suppose you could argue that is a positive sign.
