    Sunderland

He's only signed a sixth-month deal with Augusburg and apparently he is set to join Dortmund after the end of the season. No, I don't know why they seem to want him so badly.

    Remy Cabella

No idea who he is and couldn't even begin to form an opinion. Signings are good I suppose.
  3. As if what Pardew says would affect other clubs' decisions to make bids in any way. "It's a new Pardew sound bite about Cabaye! Quick, ready the chopper!'"
  4. Shola would probably score ten past us in half an hour. While eating an apple.
  5. We're at home, they're only six points better off than we are, and we apparently have the luckiest manager alive. No reason we can't win. Possibly three points off top if we do
  6. Sell more shirts in Korea? Oldtype disagrees. I'm quite perplexed why they'd want him at well given that he can't get in the squad for the worst team in the Premier League and the Korean national team as well. Kid had loads of potential before the Mackems got to him. For his sake I hope he moves and it isn't too late.

It'd be their new 9-1. "2014! Screwed you out of Europe marra!"
  8. Ki is decent, him and Giacherinni are their only decent attacking players/midfielders really. The rest are awful He was doing alright at Swansea. Mostly got kicked off the island due to personality clashes with Laudrup. (Ki has a pretty bad reputation for being a complete and utter dickwad)

  10. Barely even realized it was almost January. Two or three years back I'd be counting down the days till the window open. (And then again until it "slammed shut" and we signed nobody.) Dialing down expectations helps keep you sane. Like Yorkie, I'd be content with anybody who'll push Shola out of the team. Anything else is a bonus and an extremely unlikely one at that.

    Loïc Remy

Predictably goes into a mini-slump as soon as I put him on my fantasy team.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

Ben Arfa is one of the best technical players in the world, but at age 26 I think it's pretty apparent that he hasn't got the athleticism or the mental consistency to be an elite player. We could definitely use him better than we are currently, but we're deluding ourselves if we think he's going to blossom into a dominant player if we just "set him free." He is what he is.
  13. Algeria supposed to be setting up a warmup friendly with Scotland. Not sure if that's going to adequately prepare them for Belgium or Russia
  14. We all know exactly what will happen the second we sell him. No deal.
  15. Suarez is bordering on Ronaldo/Messi good now
  16. Really should have scored the winner. Southampton were defending very poorly after their goal and gifting us some amazing chances. That miss from Remy
  17. It happens every time the World Cup is awarded to some place that isn't Europe and such a narrative will no doubt continued (perhaps justifiably) in 2018 and 2022 as well.
  18. Now that he's improving Ashley will probably sack him
  19. I enjoyed the whole game and I can't remember when that's happened last in the league. We have the players, we just need to use them correctly and we can do really well, fingers crossed it's not a one off. This - absolutely. Everyone is entitled to enjoy today but some are going completely OTT...the time to do that is when we have won something or qualified for the CL/Europa League, the season lasts until May. I would have thought that anyone with a few years following NUFC would have realised that after so many false dawns.... Take your victories when you can. If you're not allowed to be satisfied until we win something you might as well accept being miserable for life.
  20. I wouldn't bother with that distinction at all. Judge a fan by the quality of his support, not by his place of birth. Glory hunters can be born in Newcastle, Manchester, or Seoul. Real supporters can be born in all of those places as well. to add a caveat to that "judge a fan by the quality of his support, when they are down and have been down for a while and don't look like coming back" Behavior during down times is highly probative, of course. That's why everyone here gets free passes.
