  1. I don't think so. I think the press will turn on him and now start saying how the fans see games and reflect true reviews on Pardew instead of having their polls that show the majority of fans want Ashley and Pardew. Despite this I don't think Ashley will give a shit and things will continue as they are, just the fact that he no longer has the support of the local media, something which he clearly doesn't give two shits about in anyway. Come to think of it aren't the Daily Mail, NOTW (News international) all still banned from the club? Pretty soon the only news outlets reporting from SJP will be NUFCTV and Sports Direct news. Ashley may be thick-skinned but everyone has their limits. Also, if he starts getting a lot of negative press in relation to NUFC, the club's advertising value for Sports Direct will begin to contract, hopefully to the point where it's no longer worth it.

If anything he's been utter turboshit since Ba left. Perhaps that's contributed to his unhappiness/lack of effort.

    Visibly worse than Shola
  4. With respect, stick to what you know. Liverpool fans have a tribal mentality, our lot generally eat shit for a living. What do you mean by eat shit for a living and how is that mutually exclusive with tribal mentality? They see themselves as a deserving entity and when wronged they'll do whatever they must as group to remedy it. Our lot just accept and keep going. You seem quick to generalize. I suspect a venomous local press will change attitudes very quickly.

Two seasons with Arsene Wenger and I'd put any money you like on him being one of the best and most consistent players in Europe. I rate Gerets and Deschamps fairly highly as managers and they couldn't do it either. Tbf they did. He was just a troublesome (behaviour) player but contributed to title wins 5 years on the trot with both those clubs iirc. If Wenger or any other manager at that level thought they could make him consistent, they'd probably have bought him.
  6. Not comparing the situations per se but I'm talking about the press creating the impression that somebody's a bad owner. The image the press creates is incredibly influential to the casual public. Life becomes much more difficult for owners when that happens.

  8. Part of the reason the sort of discontent that's prevalent on this forum rarely if ever transferred to the larger public over the years is because the local press has done such a good job of shielding the club. Like it or not most people's perception of things is colored by the stuff they read in the papers every day. If the local press start actively fomenting discontent the attitude on the street will change markedly. Eventually it will attract national coverage and they'll have a Gillet/Hicks at Liverpool situation on their hands.
  9. Monumentally stupid move from the club. Could be the beginning of the end for Ashley this.

This is just what stops him from being the great player he could be. Consistency.
  11. Let's be real. If Pardew was sacked they'd appoint Kinnear or find someone else who's useless and just as annoying. As long as we're owned by Mike Ashley I'll just pray for not getting relegated every year. Changing managers won't be much help.

I know. But it's weird, right? It's weird that he hasn't been sacked. At least give me that. Giving him that 8 year contract was even stranger. I've had this "Oh come on surely he won't survive this" feeling four or five times now. He always does. I felt we may have been somewhat close after the Liverpool(thank God we avenged that one when Pardew owned Liverpool last week) and mackem thrashings last season. But after this result? Mike would not even consider it for a moment I think it was after Reading, after Liverpool, and after Sunderland that I had that feeling. I agree today does kinda pale in comparison.

Oh well, he's here forever. Might as well get used to it.
  15. I'd like to think that "Newcastle United" is sufficiently recognized as a global brand name to the point that trying to rename it would be counterproductive from a money-making perspective. It's probably the same for most Premier League clubs, which is why I suspect that if/when Red Bull does adopt a team in the Premier League they would take a significantly different approach from what they've done in Salzburg.

    Alan Pardew

He's increasingly been getting things right the past couple of games but there's still a long way to go before any sort of trust is re-established.
  17. I know it's irrational but this would be an issue for me too. Always took pride in the fact that my local club charges away fans the most and gives them the shittiest seats
  18. This whole idea of naturalized players playing for the national team is interesting. Don't see why not imo. Korea is one of the last holdouts in Asia against any naturalized players, much like England is one of the last holdouts in Europe. I suspect we both suffer quite a bit for it.

We spent less then than we did in 11/12 http://i39.tinypic.com/2r2lu3b.jpg You've missed two off that first one: Parker out, Barton in. Spend probably about the same though. Post-Xisco signings were on average probably offered much lower wages than the ones before them, which I suspect is a much more significant indicator of spending than net spend is in our case.

Christ. He just doesn't seem bothered anymore. It all matches up with the pre-season shirt sponsor ruckus as well. Most likely looking for an excuse to get out, leveraged it into a fresh payday.

Time's up really. Think he's had a bit of an attitude/mentality problem because his effort on the pitch is horrendous. Starting anew elsewhere might be better for both sides. That's assuming we somehow miraculously sign another striker though.
