I don't understand the desire for a huge "kop" end mind. Its an outdated concept and the views from near the back of it would be bloody awful.

Agree with that. He became a more complete player at Man Utd but in the process lost his flawless finishing that he had with us.

That's not the player I remember at all. Cole was absolutely lethal for the entire time of his NUFC career. He might have had his chances created a lot by Peter Beardsley but he still always finished them. Isak still misses 1 on 1 chances. Cole never did. "Gets the ball and scores a goal". Never been a more accurate song about an NUFC player.

He's still not quite as good as Cole in his NUFC heyday but he's getting there. I've thought for a while that he's the closest thing we have seen to Andy Cole and he plays very much like him. The comparison to Henry is absurd IMO. On another note, the lad desperately needs a better song as that "Mackems Net" dirge is properly cringeworthy. We have got one of the best strikers in the world and we serenade him with a song related to goals scored against lower league fodder. FFS, at the very least he should be getting the "Isak's on fire/defence is terrified" song.
  5. Hopefully they will use the people who redesigned the Bernabeu to design our new stadium. I'd be over the moon if we just built a Bernabeu replica, in terms of internal design, steepness of stands, facilities & technology, proper roof that can fully close etc. It's the greatest football stadium in the world, bar none. I'd like to see the exterior look a bit different though, as the spaceship exterior works a treat in Madrid but would look well out of place in Newcastle city centre.

NUFC are never moving to Silverlink, or anywhere like it.

That article reads as pretty depressing to me, and makes me think it will all be kicked into the long grass. Sure, they might announce a plan soon but I won’t be surprised if a shovel doesn’t hit the ground for years.
  8. Assuming the material will be the same, they absolutely have to bring back the away top too.

Yeah we will have to disagree. You dont move to a club just for its history, you go for the team you are joining, and I dont think there is much between us and LFC when you remove Salah from the equation. As long as we can match the wages LFC can offer then there is no reason to jump ship if NUFC are also qualifying for the CL.

Take Salah out of this current team and they arent guaranteed to be a top two team IMO. He is literally carrying them to the title himself. And as good as Isak is, he's nowhere near the current level of Salah.

Take Salah out of the current LFC team and I dont think there is much between them and the current NUFC squad. Give Isak the correctly updated contract and I dont see why he should want to uproot and go there.

This is the worry for me too. I will be disgusted if we sell him to the dippers to fuel their following 5 title challenges. Under no circumstances should we sell to them, no matter the price.

Do they have bigger local catchment areas? We have an entire quarter of the country to ourselves, something that they dont. If we were to be successful too I could see us having a significant following north of the border too.

70k is the sweet spot for me, with expansion potential for another 10k. 65k is where the other big clubs are already at, and they want even bigger, so we need to jump past the stage where they are currently at if we want to gain parity with them over the long term. Once you get past 70k capacity though it becomes more difficult to have a stadium that can keep an atmosphere in the place. So building a very big stadium that still feels like a bearpit is the challenge.
  15. Yep. And there is no way they will lose the 115 case now. They will simply nuke the entire league if it doesn't go their way. I love how savage they are being with the PL, it's great to see.
  16. Can someone do a link to a readable version of this Martin Samuel article? https://www.thetimes.com/sport/football/article/manchester-city-unlawful-legal-martin-samuel-cv7l7x72v#:~:text=Wrapped up in legalese is,may wish to spin it. Edit : found one.... https://archive.ph/NndOh

Generally speaking I like his videos but when it comes to the SJP debate he is such an insufferable smart arse. I will piss myself laughing if we do relocate into a part of Leazes Park when he has said it will never happen. He has said he will close his YouTube account if it does happen. Somehow I think he will find wriggle room for that not to happen. I’d also love to know how he believes the Bondibot ‘Option 3’ to be nothing more than a “fantasy”.

That’s what I meant though. Your illustration has a stadium with a bigger footprint than the one shown by ponsaelius. Anyway, thinking about it logically, if the club have had discussions with the relevant authorities it is more likely to theorise a new vision of the 1997 proposal, rather than something like on that Bondibot video.

    St James' Park

It hasn’t. Take some measurements if you don’t believe me. Not saying a stadium couldn’t be put there but it would need a bigger footprint than the one hypothesised in this illustration.

Remember though, it’s NUFC who get all the luck, according to RTG.

    St James' Park

This hypothetical illustration is a nonsense too I’m afraid. The “new’ stadium that has been plonked there on Castle Leazes has a smaller footprint even than SJP in it’s current guise, never mind putting a new stadium on there with a much bigger footprint.

    St James' Park

It would be a lot easier to get NUFC fans to the SoL than you might think. The stadium is on the opposite side of the river to the city centre, therefore the police could just barricade any access to the other side of the river where all of the bars and shops are. The stadium itself is an easy journey down the A19 and along Wessington Way, so straight in and straight out without fuss. This idea that the area would be a battleground is a total nonsense. The first few matches there might be a handful of wannabe hoolies but once the novelty wears off it would be a non event.

I can see them finding a way around those issues. As everyone now knows, the park is absolutely goosed and need serious money thrown at it for it to be renovated.

    St James' Park

Photos ripped from that youtube video from a few months ago, but this is definitely how you hold on to a piece of the current footprint and thus keep the SJP purists happy.

I think their fans would swiftly come round to the idea if we handed £25m per season to them. It would secure their FFP status for years.
