from .com Reacting to recent speculation about an alleged bid for Newcastle's Shola Ameobi, Ipswich Town boss Jim Magilton commented: "We have made an enquiry about Shola but not a bid. The lad has just got married and has been away on his honeymoon which we have not wanted to interrupt. “When he gets back I'm hoping to be able to speak to him personally. A lot of things so far have been done through intermediaries but until I can speak to the lad myself we can't move on. The 26 year-old forward last appeared for the Magpies in January 2008 and spent the closing months of last season on loan at Stoke City (although he only played a minor part in their successful promotion bid). However, talk that a permanent deal would follow for Ameobi at the Britannia Stadium proved to be false and the Tractor Boys were then said to be in pole position to sign him, for a fee that could ultimately rise to £3.5m. Noises from the player's agent about his client not ruling out a reunion with former boss Glenn Roeder down at Norwich seemed to conflict with the local Norfolk press, who had dismissed any Canaries bid on financial grounds. It's now claimed that Ameobi is unwilling to drop down to the Championship and if no prospective Premier purchaser emerges, could elect run down the final year of his current contract at SJP.

http://nufcblog.com/2008/06/03/transfer-news/newcastle-linked-with-turkish-whiz-kid/ Newcastle United are said to be tracking Turkish International Nurin Sahin. Sahin was born in Lüdenscheid, West Germany and he is currently under contract with Borussia Dortmund, but last season was on loan to Feyenoord. He is a midfielder and can play in either an attacking or defensive role, and has already played 11 times for Turkey, even though he is just 19 years old. The source is pretty non-existent but he looks a very tricky player and very young one too, one for the future?

last time I saw an interview he was crying his eyes out, they're still best mates but gazza seems to have pushed him away. Jimmy said he fears gazza might do something stupid if hes not properly looked after...

http://www.mailonsunday.co.uk/sport/football/article-1023482/Newcastle-striker-Martins-likely-miss-start-season-ankle-injury.html?ITO=1490 Obafemi Martins's ankle injury means he is unlikely to be fit for the start of next season. Newcastle team-mate Mark Viduka also faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines. Martins has been sent to Italy for treatment. Obafemi Martins Although Michael Owen's future is uncertain, Newcastle manager Kevin Keegan is keen to partner him with Peter Crouch, while the club's increasingly influential London office favour St Etienne striker Bafetimbi Gomis. Newcastle have confirmed Turkish midfielder Emre will join Fenerbahce for £8m.

Personally I'd really like to see Crouch here. Top price I would pay would be £10-12m, I just think he'd do well for us
