in defense of ben arfa, he was being frozen out. If Pardew was indeed complicit in the sacking of Hughton, then Ben Arfa's actions then should not compare in any way. there is certainly an ethical difference between acting against the rules if you believe them to be unfair, and being a part of somebody being fired because you feel you deserve the job more. In Pardew's case, somebody else was on the other end of the axe.

his one really stupid decision so far was bringing on Tiote imo. His talking has not been at the Sourness level, but when things start to go tits up, I expect it to escalate.

from my view, ben arfa, although a spoiled tit at times, was a little hard done by at his old club. May be misinterpreting you on that one. Is there some question mark whether Ben Arfa was complicit in the firing of another professional? I know it's all hearsay, but something fishy was going on with the Pardew thing, well before Hughton got the axe. Certainly fishy enough to leave doubt about the part Pardew played in his sacking. There were some atrocious performances under Hughton, but we were still sitting in a somewhat comfortable position as a promoted team. And say what you will, but that performance at Stevenage was as bad as the worst under Hughton, and the sending on of Tiote was absolute madness. Pardew may well have cost us points in the next 3 games, with such a stupid decision. Not saying that Pardew's time here can be described as a disaster yet either, but when the water empties out of the bay, there is a more than good chance that it's coming back at some point with disastrous consequences

i suppose we will see a good litmus test on sunday with Cattermole and Maylor out. How good is this backline, although I am not too confident about the frontline we are putting out, even if the Scourge of Sunderland is in the lineup. And if Smith goes in, we are effectively playing with 9 men.

Not sure how Ben Arfa's situation is remotely like Pardew's without having to build a bit of a bridge. Yes, it is agreed that 11 clean sheets is down to a team effort. However, the 11 clean sheets and their goal difference suggests that the mackems' defense is organized better than the West Hams of the league, since teams have managed to penetrate through their midfield. As the last line of defense, they are doing as well as anyone, apart from a couple of blips.

In his mind he will certainly be reminiscing about Hull's glory days when he took them within 12 places of a Europa Cup berth.

I don't think EthiGeordie made one single mistake since 'by all the account'. -
When you are comfortable payloading a teammate in front of 41,000 people, that's team spirit. Talk about a united dressing room.

David Bentley joins Birmingham City on loan
Vinny Green Balls replied to jdckelly's topic in Football
The thing about the Toon when I signed up was that I never knew that it was like being in the mafia. On pain of death, I can never leave. I find it absolutely impossible to switch allegiances. Even last season, I could not give a shit about the Premier League. All 20 teams could go and fuck themselves. Anyway, back to Bentley. I certainly would not mind one bit if he came. Somewhere in there is a very useful player, as we knew with Barton. -

I have become accustomed to seeing ManUre shirts at any game here...and even Arsenal and Chelsea tops. But what has sent me into a homicidal rage is all of the Spurs tops that just suddenly appeared in the last 18 months. And you talk to a lot of these pricks and they will tell you that their favorite clubs are Tottenham, Arsenal, Real Madrid and Barcelona. I can hear the very fabric of the Universe being torn when these windbags pour shit from their mouths. -
This is the Best thread, I've ever been in, dududu dududu

It's not getting carried away to praise him on a good performance. I don't care if it was West Ham. He did what he was hired to do last night, and on his first Premier League start. I don't think anybody is saying that he is the new van Basten, but the praise is completely justified. He at least has earned a chance. -
Anybody who still wants him sold should be conventionally impaled via the rectum, or if we are feeling a bit more merciful, crucified with two bent nails through the scrotum. Brilliant player on his day.

Clearly we are going in the right direction...from a lemming's perspective. Living under this regime is like living at the foot of Mt. St. Helens.

Newcastle v West Ham, Wednesday 5th January, 7.45pm

As one of the resident posters of the painfully obvious, we cannot afford to drop these points. I'll go for 2-1 to us. Even without Carroll, we should be able to score against this roving pile of dogshit, even if they are playing a bit better. -
Loved how the sniper connected at long range with his hand when the ball struck.
-
I am certainly no Pardew apologist, but I thought the odious prick got things right today.

He got us 3 points against a team we traditionally fuck up against. Can't fault him on this day.

Wayne Routledge signs 3 year deal with Swansea
Vinny Green Balls replied to clintdempsey's topic in Football
Of course his crossing was sub-par, but he caused Wigan quite a few problems on the right. Gave them something to think about. Certainly kept them form trying to attack us at will. Routledge overall did quite well, and was instrumental to us holding onto the lead somewhat easily, even against an absolutely abysmal side. -
studs up, but not really aimed at the player on a 50-50 ball. The intent was to win the ball, which he did. I can understand a yellow due to the dangerous nature of the tackle, but there is no way that is a sending off.

pardon, a good troll appreciator.
-
but as a troll appreciater, I can see that Ashley's position is completely defensible, as long as it pisses of a critical mass of posters.
-
Ashley makes some decisions that utterly defy logic, because I think it's safe to say that he likely doesn't have much use for logic. He's the asshole in the casino who will put his house up based on a notion. A combination of luck and instinct have served him very well so far in business. However, the colossal flaw in operating NUFC in such away is that lady luck turned her ass cheeks toward this club 50 years ago. His good fortune will have been completely counteracted by the Magpie Effect. For the non-troll, his position is at this point completely indefensible. I don't see how much is going to change. He will probably go dormant for a year or two, right up until a thread asks if Ashley is now forgiven. And then the poison gas is released. A cycle is clearly manifesting here.

As much as I dislike how Pardew came in (and for various reasons dislike him), I think we are jumping on him a bit too quick on this one. If this continues, and players clearly fall out with him, then we can start likening him to Sourness. Perhaps this shit should have been kept in house, but let's not magnify the situation.
