Didn’t he play the holding role once last season? Once being enough to establish he was couldn’t play in midfield. He did play there, and is was a disaster. (Like the whole last season) Was against Man City away, he played in a midfield of Geremi, Barton and Duff.

Would even more like to see Joe Kinnear as their manager.
-
Yes, he did as much running as he normally does - not much or almost nothing. Well done Chris by not even thinking about dropping him.

That's a bit too abstract but the idea itself wouldn't be too bad tbh. Probably 10.000 a week and then a certain bonus per win/goal scored/assist/clean sheet ... Only problem would be that I could hardly see any player wanting to play for us under such "hard" conditions.

I like that, perhaps with Guthrie instead of Smith though. It's basically that Keegan formation which was great. But I would like to see Routledge in Best's position because of his pace and ability and therefore Guthrie in on the Routledge position. And I would switch Smith with Barton as soon as Barton is 100% fit.

One or both would be out the door at the first chance KK would get. Remember, he actually played Butt in every (?) game he was manager. Smith wasn't sold by Keegan because he was "a good guy to have around" iirc. But yes, Nolan would be out of the door pretty quick I could imagine. KK never really got the chance to sort a team out. Yeah right. Haven't thought about that actually. Wonder what "his" midfield would have looked like if he would have been given a chance to sort it out... his midfield would have looked like one that attacks with speed and purpose. He would have needed a lot of new players for that! always got the best or more out of players than other managers. Definitely. He could make Barton to play (well) about 10 games on the spin (without suspension/injuries), could get Viduka off his couch, could get Owen to score goals and play well. But mostly it had impressed me that he could make Geremi look like an 35 year old again.

Another CH? Please not, one Chris Hughton is enough.

You must know that he means alongside some new players to fill the other spots. Yes, obviously.

Funny, I was just saying on Saturday that I generally think Colo would cope better in midfield than any of Nolan, Butt or Smith. Obviously it's never gonna happen because it's vital we have him at CB. I've thought it all season. He is the best passer of the ball in our team, without a doubt. When Taylor is back and playing alongside Williamson, I'd love to see what Colo could do at DM. He has played at DM a considerable amount of times for Depor, Milan saw him as the long-term replacement for Costacurta (a DM). Sure, it's a sign of desperate times that I'm suggesting we use our best defender this season as a playmaker, but I think an effective passer of the ball is exactly what we need in the centre of the park, whilst still providing defensive cover. Barton and R.Taylor are better passer of the ball imo. But even if Coloccini is the best like you said, Hughton won't play him as a DM as he thinks (and he's right there imo) that he's needed in the defence. Even if Williamson can do as good as if not a better job than him? If Taylor get fit again, ok. But I won't like to see a defence of Hall and Williamson there tbh. I know Hall did well so far, but still I'm not too convinced about him.

Would like to see S.Taylor there tbh. Taylor Coloccini Williamson Enrique Taylor has played there for England U21 and for us as well. Always did well there iirc.

Harper, Jonas, Barton, Guthrie (maybe, as I've said), Routledge, Smith, Lovenkrands, Carroll are players I'm confident of that they can do a job for us next season (in the Premier Leauge). We won't get to top 6 or top 8 with those players but we should be able to stay up. Very optimistic, a fair few of those just haven't performed well at top level. Right. That's why I said we won't get top 6 or 8 with those players but will survive.

We'll have to wait and see I think. He looked good last season (ManUtd the very first game of the season -> Keegan's man of the match). I really think that this season he's a bit frustrated at the amount of games he gets and gets in middle. He's also still young and still can improve. Harper, Jonas, Barton, Guthrie (maybe, as I've said), Routledge, Smith, Lovenkrands, Carroll are players I'm confident of that they can do a job for us next season (in the Premier Leauge). Apparently rested.

Very difficult quiz tbh. Question 8 I would have said Michael Schuhmacher as he's Formula 1 world champion and plays somewhere in his country in 3rd or 4th league. The rest I would have had no clue...
-
Please not. Lovenkrands is shit on the wing.
-
Owen could have been the next "big player" to get support from foreign countries. Has turned out quite diferently of course. If I talk about football here and the name Owen falls it's almost always the same: "Owen? Does he still play?"
-
they all are now mate As long as they're only "must win games" and not so called "cup-finals" it'll be ok.
-
I started to be a Bayern Munich fan (like almost everyone in my area) but soon it became boring to win the league every year. In about 2000 I've watched the Premier League highligths and saw Shearer play for Newcastle and somehow became a NUFC supporter.
-
I think Guthrie still showed that he is twice the player Nolan or Smith is. Once in the second half he moved from his left midfield position into the centre, had to played the ball and after he played he moved to be free and unmarked. That's basic football that everyone should do but unfortunately Smith and Nolan seem not to care what happens as soon as they played the ball away.

Happy birthday KK!

That's a good question tbh. But wasn't that the case with almost every manager? Sir Bobby played players like Carl Cort or Shola. Roeder played Parker as "Gerrard/Lampard" and played Emre as a holding midfielder. Kinnear never dropped Butt and/or Duff and also played Ameobi in favour of for example Viduka and never gave Xisco a chance. Shearer didn't drop Butt. There's an endless list of mistakes managers have done tbh. Hughton doesn't drop Nolan, yes, ok. But he at least dropped Butt (he is injured at the moment but hasen't played much before either) and he also dropped Owen last season when he was poor. For me it's only a matter of time when he will drop Nolan. Some players mentionend that Nolan is the best "trainer" (best player in training) so that could also be a reason for him to get picked every week.
