  1. have to agree like, not that mata wouldn't improve them massively but a player like cabs would help them immensely, he'd be able to run games there with rooney & rvp hopefully moyes has his eye on a fellaini equivalent
  2. i think we're in the right place tbh, but you could argue that we've fucked up a bit as it's a fluctuating league this year...losing to hull and such has cost us badly, people will say those results were countered by great results against spurs, manyoo & chelsea and while that's right it's worth remembering all 3 of those teams were/are in transition when we played them - these are the times you're supposed to grasp opportunity and not use such results to paper over awful results like the mackems, hull etc. so in summary you can't really say we "should" be ahead of any of the teams above us, but we really could have been if pardew was a better manager imho
  3. can you imagine how crushing it'd be seeing shola getting games ahead of you if you had his ability? "hatem, you're on the bench again son, need work rate throughout the 11, we just can't carry you" 45 minutes into match "shola, get your top off" EDIT: in a world cup year no less
  4. they've got goals in them still, which should be enough for them you'd imagine
  5. they're in serious fucking bother tbh, still, watched a bit of them yesterday and they were still attacking spurs, still playing the right way hopefully there's a version of bosingwa to save laudrup
  6. has he been consistently brilliant? i recall him being consistently better than our other players i suppose first season he was playing in pardews fussball team so his flashes of quality were not as widespread imo, second season as you say injuries caused inconsistent form when he did play...i recall him coming back from injury in january and putting in 2-3 good performances right way then fading away fairly rapidly for the rest of it this season been pretty great now the team plays football that suits him
  7. Fwiw theres always the chance he stays til the Summer, until we accept a fee i am not worrying about it oh yeah, should have read "will be gutted" obviously - something tells me he's gonna do something against them this time and break the pardew curse
  8. football equivalent of an artificially induced coma
  9. gutted tbh, had my heart set on him giving them a right cunting this time
  10. I'm not sure i understand that..... You can keep the ball on the floor all you like when you have it. If the other team want to lump every time you can't change that by simply keeping it pretty when you have it. You do have to be able to deal with the aerial ball. i imagine the intent would be to deal with their high ball and counter it by keeping it yourself by winning the second ball*, and keeping it on the ground when you get it...can't see how the 2 things are mutually exclusive, plenty of clubs come under pressure from long ball football, they don't all answer that by camping on the edge of their own box and wheeling out a corpse to kick the ball 50 yards at *arguably our best second ball winner just happens to be big vurn
  11. didn't really know how to term it, what's better just "deluded"?
  12. agree with this tbf To be absolutely honest there has been quite a long time recently where nobody would shed a tear about Cabaye going. Slightly unlucky that this is happening when he's finally putting some good form together. assuming any of it is true of course, but i agree with you for once yeah...i hope he makes it to the mackems game if he is going, goes out in style by destroying them to utter f*** and robert's his way out of the stadium Does the transfer window go beyond 31 Jan this year? Ends on the 31st iirc. Will be impressive if he plays then ahem i'm living in a vacuum man, give me a break
  13. agree with this tbf He took his time to find his feet after a first season and a subsequent one where everyone sucked. Now that he's reaching his peak and is one of our best players, I don't see why we should advocate selling one of our best players especially when replacements, if any, might not have the same impact or would take similar time to settle down. i didn't advocate the other part of the post, i just said i agreed with the part i bolded fwiw
  14. agree with this tbf To be absolutely honest there has been quite a long time recently where nobody would shed a tear about Cabaye going. Slightly unlucky that this is happening when he's finally putting some good form together. assuming any of it is true of course, but i agree with you for once yeah...i hope he makes it to the mackems game if he is going, goes out in style by destroying them to utter fuck and robert's his way out of the stadium
  15. don't think we've finished above these in my lifetime, would be absolutely ace....alas, pardiola
  16. Would assume he'll play in the same number 10 role Cabaye has. he doesn't look like as much of an orthodox CM as cabs though, it'd be awfully gung-ho for pards to play this: anita tiote sissoko gouff cabella remy but then he's got a solid, responsible 4 i suppose - i was also wondering if the de jong deal is still a goer the plan might be something like this with anita filling in when one of the other CM's is out: sissoko tiote gouff cabella remy de jong but then i thought "plan" to be honest that 2nd one might be class, free up remy some more
  17. no way pardew ever starts 2 wingers who don't run their bollocks off, maybe one, but 2? no chance also fuck that scouting report thing for manyoo, seems overly negative, carr hasn't been wrong much recently lets be honest
  18. assuming the whole thing is true it's an interesting one, bit of dennis wise scouting and it's obvious he's fuck all like cabaye as a player so i can't see how pardew will manage the change one thing he seems to do very well is move off the ball in advanced positions, which almost none of our squad do at all...he seems very adept at giving the ball then bursting into space to get it back, problem with that might be we're selling one of the players who'd be able to find him with it

  20. No it didn't. By taking Anita off we started losing all the second balls in midfield. It helped defend set pieces, which i think was the point of it. Positive it wasn't but helpful it actually was tbf. Pardew in a nutshell. It helped us not concede instead of making a substitute to help us score. I can't wait for the day he finally leaves. Wanting Pardew to leave I understand - but it really isn't that odd that a manager might look to protect a 2-1 lead when the impetus has shifted rather than go looking for a third. Maybe he should try and regain the impetus by controlling possession, rather than hoping he can get away with twatting the ball away for a full fucking third of the game. aye this, precisely, people here acting here like we have 2 options when the other team decides to put up a fight: lose & shola
  21. If a manager isn't able to juggle 2 games a week, then he has some serious short comings. Laudrup pardew
  22. wrt yesterday are some people not ignoring how fucking appalling west ham were in their discussion and analysis? pardew's consistent 2nd half mentality just invites teams like that to play above what they were and to put ourselves under pressure, god he's a fucking horrible manager if i was the manager of an opposing team i'd be telling my players to make sure they're within 2 goals if at all possible because anyone watching us on a semi-regular basis will know he's going to withdraw our attacking intent in some way, shape or form the lack of variation from the man is truly awful
