  1. this, same midfield as arsenal but obertan and ba up front to exploit the space we'd beat them with that team imo, if we play 10 men from the start (shola) it'll be a struggle i reckon
  2. if i was putting money it on it right now i'd say no personally as i just said, maybe we buy one loan one or something but mike ain't spending that kind of cash until he sells another asset or two imo
  3. is this really happening O-N? i mean are you trying to suggest that pardew, let alone any other manager in the world, wouldn't have at least one more area strengthen given 20m to do it with? I think it's clear we'll have signed two new strikers by the end of the window, we'll have signed a creative midfielder, two new wide-men, and a new left-back. I don't like wholesale changes. We could easily sign a new right-back or centre-back with that cash of course, but I don't like the idea of starting a new season with 6-7 brand new players trying to gel. I'd be happy with this window adding the striker and left-back, then when the squad is blended again, then add your right-back, centre-back, etc. ah i see what you're saying now, but adding those players will end up costing us 15m? ashley is not going to spend that man, he's just not you might get one and a loan in if you're lucky

  5. I mean in terms of who we've signed. Would you be complaining had it been, for example... Cabaye - £7m, Ba - £7.5m - Marveaux - £5m without any Freebies? I don't think they're unreasonable valuations either. i'd complaining yeah, because you left off the outgoings: carroll 35m, nolan 4m, enrique 6m so yeah, i'd be complaining
  6. Its irrelevant. All that amtters is that we got our signings in for collectively small ammounts and the surplus should have been dipped into. There's no need to deal with hypothetical situations here. correct, it's the same as saying "everton haven't spent anything either, nor have spurs or villa really" doesn't matter, in fact it makes it worse that these teams aren't doing anything 'cause if we'd spent some of the fucking money raked in on top of the good deals that we've done then we'd have had a chance to bridge the gap and catch them up, even perhaps overtake them but then that's not the ultimate goal for ash i suppose is it?
  7. with joy? bit much like if you're inferring that it'd be a catastrophic signing given our current striking options you should probably stop posting

i'm willing to concede on tactics, there were mitigation's for playing the way we did you might argue (i wouldn't but i can understand the viewpoint) as regards giving him slack on team selection fuck that, he's the manager and has had the entire pre-season to judge his players plus last year so if he thinks: (a) shola should be on the pitch (b) loven should be anywhere near the squad © vuckic doesn't deserve a place on the bench (d) his own signing obertan wasn't a better option than shola in terms of ability, fitness and options then he needs calling out on it man, it's the basics of his job - he needs to get it right
  9. Woodgate made mistakes when he was here, Coloccini is bound to make more as he plays more games. Coloccini has played as many games in any 1 season than Woodgate did in his 2 seasons here. I remember Woodgate dropping bollocks but they were 7 or 8 seasons ago so I can't say that he did X in game Y. aye it was a long time ago and i also remember woodgate making mistakes, however i also remember he virtually never made them in the wrong areas ala bramble - that's what made him stand out, well one of the things colo was making those mistakes when he first came, bramble-esque, but he seems to have mostly cut them out good stuff

nah i'm not a miserable prick like Hughesy let him wallow in his internet seriousness You don't play nice. i'm not playing [/Hughesy]
  11. i don't think it would work if you put them in Barcelona's team tbh
  12. yeah yeah agree with that Tron, my issue isn't how we started it's how we stuck with it and the poor changes he made just saying he got it wrong overall, but yeah must of us would have taken a point at the start - thing is when there's an opportunity Pardew needs to be able to make the changes required to take it, that's his fucking job anyway yeah, if we go to the mackems with that i don't fancy it tbh

  14. aye me too, Colo is still prone to be caught out on the turn more than Woodgate ever was and Woodgate was better with more physical strikers, love Colo mind hope he signs on
  15. do you mean better defenders or a better team generally?

    Alan Pardew

wow, must be a riot in the Hughesy household
  17. Definitely. Give him plenty of the ball, and let him run riot. so neither of you would persevere with shola up top and 50 yard hoofs upfield then? good to know 'cause apparently yesterday that should have been considered a managerial fucking masterclass ba and obertan up top, same midfield as today and hopefully a LB by then and we should do them
