  1. it's what i love about the guardian, they'll take the piss out of any team
  2. i can imagine "drunk dialling" being a more humorous imagine mike ashley & dennis llambias, swigging from bottles of crystal: "hello, dubai? is that dubai? could i speak to someone with 400m to throw away pleash? a kebab? no i don't want a ke-" cue dial tone
  3. aye true, he was actually ousted by ashley & hall iirc eh? no doubt still bitter about the way it went down
  4. i know what you're saying but unless fans can see tangible evidence of ANY money being invested in the squad then it's all pie in the sky bollocks no-one has seen any evidence of that from ashley really have they?
  5. didn't know whether to laugh or cry at the bit in bold
  6. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/m/man_city/7593936.stm that doesn't actually include a quote though does it? it's just the reporter saying it
  7. sums my feelings up pretty much as well yeah me too, pretty much on the nose with that...
  8. sounds like something a 6th form business studies student has dreamed up in his bedroom in between a pot noodle & a wank
  9. it's all been done to death really hasn't it? i truly dislike the guy yet a couple of his comments yesterday were pretty interesting to me, namely; it was the stadium debt that needed paying back right away and it was "about 57m" which means the other debt must have been upwards of 50m assuming ashleys not blatantly lying, in fact it could be closer to 75m as ashley reckons there's 27m still to pay on players the second one was "a lot of people can buy football clubs, not everyone can run them" (paraphrasing)...which if you think about liverpool, man city's human rights abuser & ashley it's true...but the glazers, lerner & abramovich would perhaps argue to the contrary not really sure what point i'm trying to make with the second line there, just found it an interesting comment from shepherd as he was ultimately forced to sell up due to continual bad decisions on his (largely) part, so does that mean he was also unable to run a football club?
  10. Kills me. Can't even really enjoy it the way I want to. Get the fuck out. Woke up with a high fever and tried my hardest to get out of bed but couldn't, then I checked my phone and saw a text off a mate saying 'haha Spurs' and that was it, I could have ran a marathon after seeing that. Spurs mackems.gif it is pretty goddam funny man...pity we're eclipsing them in the calamity stakes right now
  11. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/premierleague/newcastle/2965876/Newcastle-fear-dressing-room-revolt-as-players-start-to-damn-their-own-club---Football.html As concern for the club's future increases, owner Mike Ashley has made securing a buyer a priority over hiring a new manager to replace Kevin Keegan, and the growing uncertainty over the future has caused anger among the players. Ashley was last night believed to be in Abu Dhabi seeking talks with potential investors. But with the Abu Dhabi ruling family close to completing their £210 million takeover at Manchester City, it looks unlikely the trip will provide the answer. A text message from an unnamed Newcastle player in the aftermath of the demoralising 2-1 defeat by Hull on Saturday is understood to have summed up the pent-up anger among caretaker manager Chris Hughton's beleaguered squad. "It's a shambles," the message said. "The players did not speak after the game, because how can we? We are not allowed to be honest and say what we want. "It's time for the people upstairs to speak up for themselves, rather than reel us out to do it for them." The unrest was revealed as a series of potential buyers distanced themselves from Newcastle, with Dubai International Capital, Anil Ambani and the Singapore-based Profitable Group denying interest in a club Ashley put up for sale following the backlash caused by Kevin Keegan's resignation. Now Newcastle's players are up in arms because of the lack of communication at the club from their paymasters. Goalkeeper Shay Given was furious after the Hull defeat, but he is not responsible for the text message. It was suggested on Tyneside that Ashley had flown to Dubai with club vice-president Tony Jimenez to try to do business with Sheikh Mohammed's DIC group. But that brought a prompt rebuttal from DIC, who revealed in a statement that they were "not planning a fresh bid for Liverpool FC or any other football club". Former Newcastle chairman Freddy Shepherd challenged Ashley to put supporters' interests above his own in order to sell the club he bought for £134.4 million, before ploughing in £110 million to reduce debts. "He can't ask for any more than he has put in there," Shepherd said. "He doesn't want to capitalise on Newcastle United. If he loves the club so much, then surely he will sell for its true worth. "That's about £230m. He would get a buyer at the price. He should get back what he put in. That would prove he loves the club and is doing right by the club, rather than what is right for him." Ashley has paid a heavy price for failing to follow a basic rule of business – when he took over Newcastle he did not study the club's books – but Shepherd has denied the billionaire's claims that he saved the club from financial meltdown. "A lot of people can buy football clubs and, it has now been proved, not many people can run them," Shepherd added. "It's absolutely ridiculous to say the club was in a mess and going to the wall. It was in good shape when I left. The only reason he had to pay a large portion of the debt was the cost of the stadium. "If the Halls lost control, the money had to be repaid immediately. The largest part of the debt was the stadium. He had to pay around £57 million." Newcastle-based football analyst Vinay Bedi, of stockbrokers Brewin Dolphin, predicted that Ashley would struggle to find a buyer in the prevailing economic climate. "It could be several months before a buyer is found," Bedi said. "Everyone else is playing hardball. This is a buyer's market and buyers are firmly in the box seat. "If the debt is nil, he might squeeze £300 m. But with the credit crunch, I am starting to think that is highly unlikely." Frank Gilmour, of the Newcastle United Independent Supporters' Association, said: "It is good news, but Ashley has made his position untenable," Gilmour said. "I am surprised at a few of the things he has said, that fan power was dangerous and that he wasn't given long enough, but his biggest mistake was bringing in Dennis Wise. That's what upset the club." _____________________ two things in bold from this article: 1. fuck off freddy cunting shepherd, the man who made an alleged 30-40m from the sale TO ashley now telling the guy he should sell up for no profit for "love of the club"!!! astonishing given he's the guy who said little else but he loved the club and fleeced it for all he could, mind-boggling 2. that football analyst guy is right, i can very easily see buyers squeezing ashley the way potential buyers did to shepherd when the hedge funds were looking at the books and running away faster than their feet could carry them...the tragedy is if they squeeze ashley we're gonna end up being the ones who really get hurt freddy shepherd though....what an absolute twat
  12. I find it even richer from a guy who by the end was having players bought over his head, and even then got sacked for finishing 5th. Even dafter is the notion of Freddie Shepherd proclaiming Keegan should be re-installed when he was the same Chairman who sacked Robson and appointed Souness. how is any of that 'rich'? first of all, Robson's success despite his hit and miss transfer strategy shows that when you have a good boss you have to back him despite errors in the transfer market. you don't get rid of someone cos you disagree with one or two of their transfer targets. the overall record they should be rated on is how well the first team performs and Robson did brilliantly. a good scouting team alone will not run a side for you (not that a good scouting team has to be at the expense of a good manager). it's like demolishing a house cos you have a nice pair of windows that don't fit the current architectural blueprints, only to be left without a house to fit them into. secondly, Robson knows first hand what it is like to be undermined from above on first team matters, and how destructive it can be for a side, so speaks from experience. He tried to work through the conditions and influence the club from within, whereas Keegan, a more explosive character, tried to use high-stakes brinkmanship to effect change. both these strategies failed as those in positions of power didn't want to relinquish that power, for various reasons. The first situation led to a decline we've yet to rise from, and the 2nd situation has left us in the shit. what i do find 'rich' is the same people who criticised Shepherd for interfering in first team matters are somewhat sympathetic towards Ashley for doing the same. i find them both guilty of the same thing, effectively, and these actions have taken us into dramatic decline both times. Aye aye, cap'n. "How can you sack Sir Bobby? You just can't..." "Sacking Sir Bobby was the hardest thing I've ever done..." shepherd was fucking disgrace mind, i find it sad that people forget this shit so easily...ignoring all the financial "back the manager" bullshit he was a shockingly amateur figurehead for the club and frankly an embarrassment to the region sometimes
  13. think the ship has sailed now Tron - i see no reason why ashley would do anything as altruistic as set a good price for the club if his statement about threats is true.... he's already raked in shitloads of TV money & season ticket money, so a continuing boycott of club products isn't gonna harm him much either i think he'll sit and demand whatever profit on the club he deems fit, and have no qualms doing it if you believe the stuff about threats to his person we need to get very lucky now, lucky enough for some cash rich loons to pay his asking price no questions asked - problem with NUFC now is that we're a buyers dream, why would you pay over the odds right away when you could sit back and watch the situation deteriorate, hostility grow and ashley's hand weaken all depends how long ashley would be willing to put up with it imo
  14. You state "The facts you cannot ignore are" and then proceed to give us a list made up mostly of media fuelled misinformation, assumptions and total bullshit. Good job. What! 1) He did state there would be a WOW signing. Seriously, I would hate to pull you up on stating bollocks as fact. Do you have any quotes to back that up. although i can't actually remember ashley "banging on about" it, should the rumour about ashley pushing the sale of barton be true then this is a very good point indeed
  15. Kaka, there's a fuckload of conjecture in there mate, you're jumping to conclusions about what happened in the same way 'the other side' are about what the 'cockney mafia' did to KK i think KK couldn't have predicted this reaction and result myself so you're being very harsh on the man...although i agree that he should have stuck it out for a while and took care of the day to day stuff and left at a more opportune moment doesn't really help now does it though?
  16. You saying he's as good as Steven Gerrard? Deluded.
  17. Only wants the youth team. might fit into the structure nicely then?
  18. he reminds me of danny murphy, been bugging me for a while but that's who he reminds me of nice and tidy, no burst of pace or outstanding skill but a good player nonetheless murphy hit a good free kick mind
  19. At that time he WAS part of the defence... yeah i know he was man, but what i mean is they were all out of position, even him, but the fact that he fled over there to try and make up the ground means he's an easy target for the blame no way our defence should have been in the shape it was to cause him to be flying across there Agreed. Just saying if HE wasn't out of position they wouldn't have been so much space over there, so it's easy to see why he's got plenty of the blame. aye true enough, he's got an excuse given the fact he's a winger...our defenders aren't really so lucky with their excuses sucked in would be the word - the other three all got sucked in and he followed them, simple as...my point being he was the only one of them remotely capable of getting across to challenge, he made it across but the challenge looked as weak as piss when really he did well not to bring that guy down
  20. 21. I really doubt that. You're just looking at worst case scenarios to suit your beliefs. If we keep the first team fit then I agree relegation won't be a worry. But the problem is the squad, if we get 2 or 3 long term injuries then we're a bit f*cked! What happened on Saturday is all the evidence you need. No proper LB (which cost us the second goal), Ameobi on the pitch, an ageing Nicky Butt struggling to like a footballer. Add to this the near certainty that Owen will be gone come January and it doesn't look good. Fair enough. We won't be challenging for the top honours regardless of the behind the scenes situation if we get a few injuries but I believe we have a better squad of players overall than the clubs that are more likely to get relegated. think the danger with us is momentum RM - if we carry on like saturday that'll snowball plain and simple players will get injured more, be less willing to try stuff, less willing to push themselves back from injury etc...it's a cliche but a true one; players fight to get into a winning team not a losing one, we saw that under KK last season we need a win ASAP now, more than many people realise at this moment in time

  23. rumour is they've only got eyes for liverpool, no? still if they've seen another group of arabs throw money at man city maybe they're just thinking "fuck it"
  24. NUFC is the Amy Winehouse of the Premier League. not bad - is she as comically inept though? i'm not so sure i honestly feel sometimes you could bring alex ferguson in tomorrow with abramovichs money to spend and by friday they'd both be howling at the moon and writing expletives on the walls in their own faeces fucking madhouse...maybe we shipped the bricks for the new stands from that hotel in the shining?
