  1. @ the logic. Ashley controlled the fans through the dark arts of spin and PR and got them to demonstrate on saturday? Spectacular. He certainly knows which buttons to press to get a reaction. Like he says - he's not stupid - so he knows what his actions will provoke. So had there been no protests at all he would still have put the club up for sale this week? Amazing co-incidence that like. Imo he's been waiting for the opportunity to put us up for sale in the light that he's the victim. tried and tested business method, you're right like...run something into the ground and make yourself as owner an untenable pariah that everyone hates nothing better than being in a position of power when undertaking negotiations is there?
  2. nope ron atkinsons free though...not heard about dave bassett in a while either does dennis know either of them?
  3. He had a shocker against Hull, however he wasn't the only one. Nicky Butt was absolutely woeful and he's meant to be "experianced". aye butt looked like he'd never played football before in his life, disgusting...that was the nicky butt who turned up from manu basically
  4. is Gary Glitter part of the Cockney Mafia? or is he OK?
  5. suppose, yeah, so there's never an intent to pay it back then really? it just sits there forever either increasing or decreasing depending on success (or lack of) on the pitch hm...not sure how i feel about that
  6. you're right with that but it's obvious it wasn't going to be as nice and reasonable as how you've just portrayed it dave he was looking at weeks, months, maybe years of people threatening him and making his life a misery fella always said he was in it for the enjoyment iirc
  7. i'll start !!! what i don't understand about NE5's defence of the previous regime (rather than owner) was how anyone thinks that debt was ever getting paid back we all applaud the ambition but it seems to me that ambition overtook the reality at some stage and lets face it for the 70m-110m, depending who you believe, it's not like we were the finished article is it? it'd have taken another 50m+ to get us anywhere near the CL places....which is where the extra cash is so how the fuck would that have ever succeeded...is the bit i don't understand i've just made things worse haven't i?!
  8. i'm not sure i'd go that far yet but if the ownership thing drags on there won't be a permanent manager in place, which suggests the shambolic efforts on saturday may become the norm we need the injured parties back, fast...but how many times over the years have we seen struggling teams with players who just aren't as eager to get back into the fray, as opposed to a team that's winning
  9. short term worries me now as much as the long term - as predicted our lack of activity in the market during the summer is coming home to roost once it's too late to do anything about it unless a takeover is completed very, very quickly indeed (unlikely) this has a chance to seriously start affecting things on the pitch, once you get into a rut it can be hard to get out of - as we saw last year a clean sweep is needed now and a big appointment as manager
  10. not under the current regime no. If the new owner appoints a good manager and gives him a transfer budget then there's no reason why not. Progress is all I want to see. what if the imaginary new owner decides to keep dennis wise and his team? or bring in someone else people don't like to do the same job? you're basically just saying as long as the owner of the club does what the fans think is best then everything is cool bear in mind progress is not always something you can see
  11. yop...unless we get someone who does what "the majority" wants the kick offs will start presumably not a snowballs chance in hell of us being run like a professional football club in the near future is there?
  12. Keegan was supposed to work while unable to spend. money has been spent..............i wonder if more was there and wasn't used for whatever reason ? what now with the sellup? sit in limbo til it happens or appoint an out of work stand in for the rest of the season? no-one good is gonna come as a permanent manager that much is for sure we need ashley to sell up now, fast, or more accurately we need a buyer, fast, otherwise this could turn into a shithole of a season
  13. nail on head garth - as Tron (i think) said the actions of some people (Mag & True Faith) appear to not have been thought through a great deal and i'll make the point again that NE5 used when shepherd was in charge - be careful what you wish for 'cause we could get someone much, much worse than ashley taking over
  14. Exactly, so we should have let him run the club his way especially given that he put up the money. Sure the fans has a say, but this is not a democracy where we can decide who we want as manager, who we want sacked, which player to buy and sell. If you want that much power, then go buy a club with your cash. If you don't have the money, then go play out your fantasies on Yahoo or Nokia Football Manager. Otherwise just let the owner make the decisions. precedent set? any owner we now get who doesn't (a) appoint a club legend as manager and do exactly what legend wants (b) spend a shitload of his own money on new players & © appoint a managerial structure the general population of tyneside agrees with then we just dust off the banners, send a few threats and hey presto! another destabilising change of ownership...! we're truly the lucky ones
  15. nailed...as long as we think of ourselves as a special club, in the sense that only certain people can understand it and the region, then we will continue to fail clutching at the steve bruce straw is nuts, truly nuts
  16. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/article4748407.ece Paul Forsyth THEY gathered in their thousands outside St James’ Park last night, as they had done before the match, and will doubtless continue to do for as long as this farce is allowed to go on. If the rising tide of opposition to his ownership wasn’t bad enough for Mike Ashley, along comes a home defeat by newly promoted Hull City to turn his worst nightmare into reality. A goal in each half by Marlon King, a red card for Danny Guthrie, whose scything tackle in the closing stages reflected the frustration of all around him, and Newcastle were again a club in chaos. This was the last thing Ashley needed in response to the protests since the departure of Kevin Keegan 10 days ago. Yet a return by the Messiah must be the only way Ashley can survive the bile coming his way, although it would require the dismissal of Dennis Wise and Tony Jimenez, the executive directors he appointed. Those are the men Keegan cannot work with, not Ashley. The owner met his former manager on Friday night, prompting speculation that a third coming; or is it fourth?; was imminent. Although there was no reconciliation, the feeling is that talks may yet resume. If this was a PR stunt to appease the furious fans, it didn’t have the desired effect. They bit their lips during the match, but made their feelings clear before and afterwards. Shearer’s bar was buzzing, but the club shop next door was empty, victim of a boycott. The burger vans did a roaring trade, as punters opted out of buying refreshments in the stadium. With every respect to Hull, this was not about them, or even the match. In one surreal moment early in the second half, the entire crowd seemed to be on its feet, watching the progress round the ground of a banner that read: “Cockney Mafia out!” When it passed in front of the padded seats, where managing director Derek Llambias was sitting, there was a roar of appreciation. The saddest aspect of this latest episode in the club’s dramatic history is that an opportunity has been lost. Ashley came to Newcastle with the kind of sensible business plan they had been crying out for. His crime has been to botch the execution. He picked the last manager on earth likely to appreciate his frugal strategy, undermined him with his boardroom appointments and finds the club again at the mercy of its supporters’ base instincts. “Fat greedy bastard,” they chanted, as though the only answer to this club’s lifelong crisis was a few more pounds. It was Newcastle’s first match since Keegan resigned, but he seemed to be there in spirit. Apart from the kick-off being conducted amid a cacophonous rendition of Keegan Wonderland, it was almost as though the team was tipping its hat to the departed one. Michael Owen played in the withdrawn position identified for him by Keegan towards the end of last season, and was influential. As well as providing an intelligent link between midfield and attack, he was a demonstrative presence on a day when a strong captain was called for. Hull took the lead after Peter Halmosi dashed into the channel and Nicky Butt brought him down. Shay Given almost saved the penalty, but King’s connection was crisp and powerful enough to carry the ball over the line. Newcastle’s supporters had vowed not to vent their frustrations on the team and were as good as their word, even after the setback. What they didn’t expect was the loss of another goal nine minutes into the second half. Pressing forward for an equaliser, the home side left itself exposed at the back, where King took full advantage. After stepping inside full-back Charles N’Zogbia, he curled a delicious left-footer into the far corner. There was one last straw to grasp at. Nine minutes from the end, Xisco bundled in a loose ball after N’Zogbia’s shot had struck a post, but the flurry of activity it provoked culminated only in Guthrie’s foul on Craig Fagan. “Emotions were running a bit high,” said Newcastle’s caretaker manager, Chris Hughton, with a neat line in understatement. sho 'nuff!
  17. he he i know it's the easy out, like calling a black person you don't like a n***** or a fat person a "fat bastard", it's the lowest common denominator however i still maintain the level of dislike and hatred for the people who own and run the club right now has a large element of regional bias to it, how anyone can tell me it doesn't is beyond me...
  18. i was hoping butt would get sent off yesterday as he was never gonna be subbed but his presence on the pitch was double negative almost, we were basically playing with 9 men when you count shola you could really say 7 oh then there's geremi as well, so five urgh
  19. this is gonna be an avoid going down season at best mate, "doing something" is on the bus to another city along with his friend "enjoyment" slog time i'm afraid nah, you're wrong pal, dead wrong to be in contention for going down in this league you have to be the shitest of the shite, getting beat off Hull at home etc Zing!
