PIF are basically weaving themselves into the ordinary business of these clubs until the relationship gets to the point where they all feel comfortable joining a Saudi led super league. Whether we’ll be taken along for the ride remains to be seen, I have some doubts. Saudi ambitions will be far bigger than just having a good domestic league, and far far bigger than having one good premier league side. When super league time comes and they’re picking clubs get into it, the core member clubs will probably vote us out.

I wouldn’t worry about who Southgate picks or doesn’t pick at this point, surely we’re all just waiting for him to leave, whether that’s in 1 year or 3 years. We all know he’s not going to win anything. It just feels like England are treading water and the FA are happy to be scandal free.

I think they just said he won’t be playing for them this season. It seems to me that they want to keep him and are waiting for all this to blow over. If he gets on with his career with no rape or kidnap incidents, they’ll hope he will be more acceptable.

I can’t think of anything that means less to me than the respect of Liverpool fans. They have a scummy fanbase that is by far the worst behaved in the premier league. Their record is horrific.

Dortmund and Arsenal seemed to be strongly linked as well, for way more money than that. I expect it was all agent driven.

The Saudi league will never hold similar prestige because they don’t play in European competitions, and even if they did buy their way in, how would they meet FFP obligations? All signs point to them making themselves part of the super league IMO, it’s the only way any of this becomes sustainable long term.

I’d give it a 9 considering the restrictions imposed on us. There are still positions to fill but realistically it will probably take another 2 transfer windows. My only slight disappointment is the lack of Brighton style bargains.
