I’ve always found the idea Liverpool would be after him as a Van Dijk replacement weird. Guehi is the type of player you might partner with a player like that, but he’s never going to be the main man in defence for a top team. £70m, what the fucking hell was going on.

This list has Kobbie Mainoo as the 12th best midfielder in the league. He’s got plenty of potential but right now he’s pretty flawed and has looked like bollocks so far this season IMO.

I found it a weird interview tbh. Blame for Guehi seemed to be deflected onto Howe and he seems to be saying we have no modern recruitment structure in place, yet this is what Dan Ashworth was supposed to be good at. But whatever, all you can do is judge the transfer windows and there is an acknowledgment that this one didn’t go well.

I think Parish cares too much about his image to lower it by more than 5m or so. It would be humiliating to accept a lot less than he was asking for just a few months ago. If Guehi doesn’t sign a new contract then Parish has cornered himself.
