If we had signed a player ready to compete at an elite level, I probably wouldn’t be thinking about prospects we were linked to and seemingly decided against. As it is we signed Elanga, who even to my untrained eye didn’t have much technical ability. It’s pretty clear we haven’t managed the balance very well at RW as we’re probably stuck with Murphy as first choice for another 18 months or so.

Eventually that will probably happen yeah. This seems like an argument against buying prospects?

We were linked to Akliouche, presumably he was an option. I thought we needed a different profile to Elanga.

I’m saying that’s what he should’ve cost, but it was clear in early August that we weren’t going to get him for a reasonable fee. We just hung around until deadline day and paid full whack anyway. Now we’re back to saying PSR is a problem.

I’m not saying he won’t end up doing ok for us, but he should’ve been a Wilson replacement for 20-30 million, we kept going for him long past the point where we should’ve moved on. As it is, we got a midtable forward for £55m and no resale value. I bet Wilson is wondering wtf was going on.

Correct decision

We could solve this for Chelsea by taking Josh Acheampong off their hands.

Bit of a surprise. I rate him but I don’t think we’re ever going to be able to rely on him staying fit, especially playing twice a week.

The other side of it could be missing out on European football because we chose not to strengthen. Fair enough if we decide to stick with what we have, but if injuries derail us we can’t complain about bad luck.

If we can’t make any moves in this window because of PSR then it makes the summer look even worse. I’m refusing to believe it and I’m expecting a couple of players.

If Livramento wants to go, they pay £90m+, and they pay it up front so we don’t have to worry about them getting kicked out of the premier league due to their extensive history of cheating, then I can’t complain too much.

I think building a good stadium, rather than a mediocre or poor one, would be key.

Wharton would likely cost more. Both will be out of our price range either way IMO.
