Villa are about to double their money on Duran, a player they signed last year and hasn’t been good enough. It’s not that unusual.
-
He’s played over 200 games for Benfica and has 42 international caps. They can’t prove shit, especially when there’s all these kids with no track records going for huge sums.
-
It won’t be found to be dodgy, there’s no way of working out what a fair value for a transfer is.
-
Trippier going would add to the argument that Chalobah would make a good signing, seeing as he can cover RB if necessary.
-
Jesus I never realised Leazes Park is listed. It’s just a hang out for crackheads from what I’ve seen.
-
I think we’re just not at the top of the food chain for the pool of players we’re after, so we have to wait around a bit until the clubs that are at the top have made moves. That’s my theory anyway.
-
He’s an experienced international in his prime years and has played over 200 games for Benfica. On paper it’s very easy to justify.
-
It’s got to the point that I don’t think we’re after Thiaw. There’s too much background noise and rumourmongering. Smells off.
-
Botman will miss half the season and will be eased back in, he might not be a first team regular at all next season. I’m expecting Kelly to be our starting LB with Livramento/Hall as backup. Then the expectation is that we’ll qualify for Europe, Burn is looking old as it is, and the reliance on Schar is too much, it would be a disaster if he got injured.
-
Same guy was calling for us to sack Howe because he’s not good enough. I don’t think he even believes most of his opinions. The one I love hearing is “Newcastle shouldn’t stand in his way”. What does that mean? We shouldn’t ask for compensation? That would be moronic and no one would expect that from a ESL club.
-
That’s the same Twitter rumour that we heard over a month ago. Poppycock.
-
I don’t think there’s any chance we would be interested without an option or obligation to buy.
-
Newcastle have spent a lot of money, though less than Man U, and way less when you take wages into account, which you should. The big difference is that we can’t really afford to miss, whereas evidently Man U can afford to miss every summer and still remain the biggest spenders in the league. I wouldn’t even have a problem with this if Man U’s fanbase didn’t whine on all the time about other clubs having some money to spend.
-
He’ll be a great signing for someone, I’m shocked he hasn’t moved yet.
-
A successful loan followed by a sale for a few million is best case scenario. We’ll end up with nothing if stays and doesn’t play.
-
Probably not that much given that we already spent £30m on Hall. I can see the PSR scare resulting in more restricted spending as well. I think a new striker depends on selling Wilson, if that doesn’t happen then no new striker. Then maybe max £60/70m combined for the RW and CB, but again I think we need Almiron out for this. I can see us doing another loan to buy next summer if we don’t get the sales we want.
-
That would be a good argument for a DoF having full control over buying and selling. Almiron is toast, take the highest bid you can get.
-
According to The Times, Paqueta will likely be able to play most, or possibly all, of next season for West Ham, due to the complexity of the investigation. The investigation began on 18th August 2023.
-
If he turns out to be a flop they’ll just get another £50m+ CB next summer. There’s no real jeopardy when it comes to Man U.
-
Sure you’re in a position where you can buy multiple players for this sort of money in one window, and pay them huge wages. We just have to hope you keep employing the likes of Ten Haag.
-
I’m pleased Man U didn’t get Branthwaite regardless of the money involved. They can spend so much that it’s not even worth tallying up, though it doesn’t stop them complaining about other clubs being able to spend. If they got him he probably would’ve been a first team player for the next decade. Can’t say I know anything about the guy they’re signing so can’t comment.
-
Problem with Wilson is he probably won’t be anyone’s first choice due his age and injuries, I can see any bids coming at the end of the window.
-
I’m not sure what maturity has to do with it. Klopp behaves in a very immature way, with the regular temper tantrums and attempts to intimidate officials and people in the media. If Newcastle hired a character like that I wouldn’t be happy but I might swallow it, just because Newcastle means a lot more to me.
-
Klopp isn’t just a moaner, he seems to have very little respect for other people. He’s a very good manager but I don’t think I care enough about the national team to go along with his bullshit antics.
-
Of the realistic names I think I’m liking Madueke the most. His ceiling is high and if Howe does a Gordon job on him he could be excellent.
