  1. I don't even particularly want him and I still find this depressing. I hate watching all these clubs trying to improve their teams.
  2. I didn't know we had even bid for him.
  3. Not at all. Lille is asking for a price that we don't think he's worth. It's pretty simple. It sucks, but it's cut and dry. So why not go for another RB? Surely there were back-up options.
  4. I would play as strong a team as possible, injury permitting(rest Colo and Tiote probably). I think some of them need more match practice rather than a rest at this stage.

Where do they get their money from?
  6. The press have been "linking" Tiote with Arsenal pretty much since he had his first good game in this country, I don't take it seriously.
  7. The floaty cross, like the one Ba scored from last week? Only because Kyle Walker fucked up, it should be easy enough to defend against.
  8. He reminds me of Stephen Carr, that motherfucker used to always cross from the halfway line.
  9. 442 has it's uses, but away at Chelsea was not the right time for it IMO. The obvious way to go is to play 451, try to crowd them out in midfield and counter them. It sounds a bit small time, but compared to Chelsea we are small time, we've spent about £3m this summer while they have spent around £73m. We still probably would've lost mind as we look a bit unprepared for the new season, which is unacceptable, it's not like the management have been too busy bringing players in.

I had them down as relegation candidates a few days ago, now I think they will be comfortably midtable. They are deluded if they think they are a threat to us though. Hopefully in the correct thread this time.
  11. I just don't think we need to go big on a 3rd striker, it almost seems a bit egocentric, showing we can get one over on Liverpool again. It's not like we are loaded, I just find it a bit queer. Strange that most people didn't have that opinion about De Jong. Not far off the same money. Seems fairly sensible to me. What are the other options? I'm not a scout, options are probably limited at this point as we seem to have waited around all summer to see what happens with Carroll. I expect Carr had a list of possible Ba replacements/3rd strikers/whatever with De Jong at the top, but I think that list was abandoned when it became clear Carroll was available, if so then i'm not sure that was wise. The De Jong one surprised me because of the money, but at that point I thought Ba was a goner so I was in favour, plus De Jong can play in a more withdrawn role which appeals to me.

  13. But buying an expensive forward we don't need isn't exactly prudent.
  14. I like Carroll but I can't see where he fits in the team, I rate both Ba and Cisse higher, so what's ganning on like? In an ideal world we would get a more skillful forward that can play on the wing, be content as back up, and cost alot less than Carroll, and this money would go towards the positions we are most in need of starting players.
  15. I can't be happy with things as they stand, we haven't really improved the team much, and i'm not one to be content with just not selling players. I don't think it is necessarily a lack of ambition holding us back though, just that we are maybe trying to be too clever negotiating with teams, trying to call their bluffs or whatever. I don't agree that there is plenty of time to go either, there's little over a week, we're not going to get 3 players in that time, we would be lucky to get 2 major signings(meaning not kids).
  16. Rodgers has handled this like a total amateur and Carroll has been treated like shit. Infact the more this chump talks the better.

    Douglas

I don't really agree that the fee is a stumbling block as whatever happens he would have resale value, he is going for this amount because he is in the last year of his contract. But anyway I was not that hot on him, the reviews i've seen have been pretty mixed. I've always preferred the sound of Mbiwa, still available btw.

The fee does sound low, even if he ended up as 3rd choice this season and wanted to leave next summer, we would still probably get 2/3 million for him. It would be a low risk signing IMO.

    Joey Barton

Little bastard always lands on his feet.
  20. When they play Man U he is going to pick a fan out of the crowd to spank him while he shouts "Boycott the sun!"
  21. This guy is cringeworthy. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2183246/Brendan-Rodgers-letter-Liverpool-fans.html?ito=feeds-newsxml
  22. If they have set a price, and we've been hanging around all summer offering well below that, then I don't blame them for being pissed off. We would be.
