If the new guy gets results straight away then i'm sure people will calm down, if he doesn't though i'm sure they will create more drama for the club. Some people seem to be revelling in it.
-
I would be over the moon with Zico, he is a manager on the up with ambition and likes to play good football. Plus he will have the profile to attract players and keep players here. You can't hire Poyet when men like Zico and Terim are interested.
-
Told you I'm still an amateur on here! *Sits in corner* I'll try again.... From an outsider looking in, Faith Terim, a volatile manager who would want control over things is exactly the sort of manager Newcastle would not want. Surely stability is the key? (Though whether this is the system's fault is another debate). Has Terim had much success when there were big expectations, or with a big club in a big league? Apologies if I'm wrong, just from an outsider's perspective, it'd be a baffling appointment. Stability with who? An amateur like Poyet or Zola? I'd rather take a risk on Terim or Deschamps.

Sven only recently took a job, he isn't going to leave it for us.
-
Maybe not, but then i'm pretty sure Guthrie was Keegans signing aswell.
-
Exactly. Do they all employ DOF with zero experience of the job or standing in the game too? Alot of them yes. Aulas at Lyon buys all the players, as does Moratti at Inter, same with the chap at Juve. I think the owners buy the players at Galatasary and Fenerbahce aswell. Atleast Wise actually has a background in football, that's more than alot of these guys.
-
The DOF system really isn't that shocking to people outside Britain. As far as i know most clubs in France, Germany, Turkey, and Italy use it.
-
Just because a manager has clashed with DOF's in other countries, it doesn't mean he is against the system and it doesn't mean he won't think it can work with our lot. You can't just rule managers out for clashing with a board.
-
Don't the owners buy all the players in Turkey? Zico nudge nudge.
-
If we have a new manager i'd rather people just welcomed him and got behind the team. We've had enough drama. I know this won't happen though.
-
Ditto. I've been quite impressed by who they've brought in this summer, they just didn't bring in enough of them in the end.
-
This would be a total disaster.
-
Managers that have jobs won't leave in september, so for me it seems Deschamps and Zico are the only attractive options.
-
He'd be a fool to reappoint Keegan after all this.
-
Quite right. I think i would want a fresh start, too much has gone on with Keegan recently.
-
I think it is a bit hysterical. My fear is that this is going to be hanging over the new guy and he won't be given a chance, people have to forget about Keegan and get behind whoever it is. Life goes on.
-
Took Monaco to the Champions' League Final and a league title, got Juventus back into Serie A. League CUP title, he's not superman, no one is going to take a league away from Lyon.
-
Deschamps, Bilic, Van Gaal would be my top 3. I'm really fucking sick of having these conversations though.
-
Cant agree you with saying Keegan should be ashamed. He will not shaft and deceive the fans. He keeps his integrity. We have been shafted, and it's his timing. He has a contract, he can't be "forced" out like everyone is saying, he could have hung in there atleast until january.
-
I hope they're all fucking ashamed of themselves, Kev included because this is the worst possible time to do it.

Can a Director of Football work in English Football
Kimbo replied to Colos Short and Curlies's topic in Football
Ofcourse it can work, but only between 2 of the right people. Clubs just take a manager, take a DOF and they slap them together, then they're surprised when there are tensions. They need to have a good working relationship. -
I don't blame them, it's probably the only way to compete these days.

There's nothing about this anywhere. EDIT: Oh yes there is!
