  1. Drogba is unbelievable, btw. In games like this he stands ten feet tall in a field of miniature men. For me, he is one of the most memorable players of this era. Love him or hate him (and I have done plenty of both during his time in France and England) but if you are a football supporter he has made an indelible mark on the sport. He, along with Lampard and Essien (who have been model citizens of the game, imo) deserve this. Despite all I said above, Chelsea are still in a precarious position regarding the league, and need heavy investment/replacement. We can challenge them again next season, and hopefully finish above.
  2. That was a brilliant game to watch. Bayern have really impressed me in this competition. Talent-wise, I think they are the third best team in Europe, and don't understand why they don't have the consistency to outdo Dortmund in their own league. Chelsea' counter-attacking strategy didn't work as well yesterday because Bayern don't flood players forward like Barca and Mata, Bertand, and Kalou were all very poor. Still, they showed the same incredible resiliency that has seen through every stage, the back seven and Drogba all stood up tall, and they were worthy winners. Despite his attraction to Tiote's head, I'm very happy for the guy. He takes so much criticism in his home country mostly because of the way his transfer/hype transpired and the fact that he was built up as the new Okocha. I think he has really turned himself into a very good player at the highest level, and this should be respected more by his people. Believe he's the first CL winner we've had since Kanu, as well.
  3. I'm sure you've championed him in the past Baba, but I may be wrong He is aaful like. He was eligible for Nigeria in the past. I might have, but reality has set in.
  4. Enough with meaningless numbers. Rubbish stays rubbish. Carlton Cole, ffs. People act like they haven't seen him running around aimlessly for the last ten years and he's some new player.
  5. They are two new centrebacks and one quality forward short of being genuine title contenders, imo. The lesser players in their squad lack the experience and quality of those at the bigger clubs in your country, though. If Bayern start Tymoschuk in the centre of the defence, I think they will definitely struggle to contain Chelsea's counterattacking play. Luis Gustavo is a very important player as well in the pivot as the destroyer/true holder. Chelsea will miss Ramires and Ivanovic, but Bayern's absences make this a very even match, imo.
  6. Seconded. Already enough Southern teams in next season's PL as it is. I'm more interested in a club coming up that will definitely fill a relegation spot next year. I think QPR will spend well and move themselves into a midtable side and would expect West Ham to do similar if they come up.
  7. He's a 31 year old who's spent his whole career toiling for obscure clubs on low wages, who finally made a name for himself at the top level of the game. If he wants to use this opportunity to further his career at a more well established club and improve his financial situation, no one should begrudge him.
  8. I dislike him, but his only real mistake is being inferior to Joe Hart.
  9. Never realised how much I look like Ashley Young.
  10. so a team who cant afford him should benefit from his services to the detriment of their competitors ? why ? it's only helping the larger clubs hoover up and hold on to the talent, if they couldn't do it he may be tempted to go to a villa or fulham for regular football and surely that would help the game in general ? Every team in the league has two spots in their squad that can be used for domestic loans. Every team had the opportunity to take a chance on Danny Sturridge. From this, I assume that Bolton agreed the highest loan fee and agreed to pay the largest percentage of his wages. Unless Chelsea have forged some illegal relationship with the other club whereby they loan them players regardless of interest from other clubs, I have no issue with this. At every club, there are young players that are clearly too good for the reserves, but will struggle to crack the firs team. Should we sell Ferguson because he isn't good enough to play every week right now? If you have spent money developing a player, it is nonsense to think that you should be made to sell them. It is also hurtful to the footballer. I would like to see a limit of one loaned player per season over the age of 23 (regardless of where they come from), but I personally think the system is vital for young players.
  11. 2008-2009 was the only top class season in Gourcuff's career. Granted, his performances in leading in leading a fairly average Bordeaux team to the title were majestic, but he hasn't come close to it anytime after or before.
  12. The pull of Spurs isn't that high if they are in the same competition as us. The only reasons players would have to leave is London and money. I'm supporting Chelsea, anyway, mostly because the majority of people in my circle of people support them. There are definitely a good number of players (not Terry) that I would be happy to see lift the trophy. Munich should still be favoured, though. Ribery or Robben running at Boswinga should be terrifying.
  13. Danny Sturridge was loaned out for one year to a lesser team and then came back to be the top scorer for his club at the young age of 22. This is exactly how the loan system should be used.
  14. No, the system is fine. There should be some more regulation of the number of loans you can take from your own country and abroad, and the terms of each loan should be set by the FA instead of negotiated by the teams. I am for anything that helps encourage the free movement of players in ways that help players develop and further their careers. There is no point in limiting a player who is cannot make the first team and cannot be sold or youth prospect who need competitive football on a bigger stage than the reserve team to develop to a level high enough for first team football at their own clubs. This group of players constitutes 99 percent of loans.
  15. If Demba goes to a club that has consistently achieved in recent years (something this club has not done), he'll feel it is a lateral move at worst. Even a club like Liverpool would probably be seen as a lateral move by most players and one that will compensate them better. You can only insult him if he leaves for a lesser team.
  16. I don't understand all this talk about "trusting the club". They've had one good year. Most of you wanted them hanged in public about a year and a half ago. If Ba leaves, he is one player that must be directly replaced by an experienced, proven professional. Best isn't good enough, Ameobi will not be fit for more than 60-70 percent of the season, and there will be Cup of Nations. Regardless of the formation, we need a known goalscorer behind Cisse
  17. Player of the Season : Cabaye. Others have been more noticeable, but he's been the most pivotal in changing the culture of the club, imo. Most Disappointing Player : Tiote. Very inconsistent the entire season. A few massive performances, but far too many more where he was sloppy with the ball and reckless in the tackle. Best Game Attended : Fulham v. Wisla Krakow at the Cottage Best Result : 3-0. Man U. SJP. Goal Of The Season: Cisse making the field of physics obsolete against Chelsea. Best Signing: Cisse Best Prospect: I suppose Santon, but it is difficult to call someone who has played that many senior games in two different top leagues a prospect. Ferguson and Abeid look like they will be players if given time. Best Solo Performance: Ben Arfa v. West Brom. It is hard for me to remember a match where one player on our side was so far superior to everyone else on the pitch.
  18. I hope Montpellier can hold the draw here. It should be all they need. They have Auxerre next weekend, who will already be relegated if current results stand.
  19. man utd have earned their titles, man city have been handed theirs. I've had this discussion before, many times. Man U would have earnt their title because they won a ridiculous amount in the past and this has given them more money and a bigger base than everyone else. Sorry, I enjoy a bit of upward mobility in the game, however it comes about. Titles are won on the pitch and the players representing this club performed better than anyone else.
  20. Preventing Manchester United from winning anything would make me like just abut anyone.
  21. I saw that, what a t*** Like the guy, but he couldn't even bother to bring a flag. Every single other African player does this, but not boy wonder. It Angers me.
  22. I don't understand why the interviewers feel the need to ask these complex questions to the foreign players who have just learned English.
  23. Chelsea to get revenge on Overbo and Luis Garcia in the course of a few weeks? They've had a ridiculous season.
  24. Chelsea have stopped playing. Did this last game as well, just casually walking around and giving the ball away.
  25. Drogba manages to injure his dick at least two or three time per match. It is absolutely ridiculous.
