  1. Joelinton has genuinely been quite good in this match. Never going to be a goalscorer, but he's shown some positive attributes this season.
  2. Supporters are missed. This is the portion if the match during which the cameras would usually find some old person or small child that is asleep, so the commentator can comment on the rubbish nature of what we are watching. Palace should have scored. I find it hard to believe that Batshuayi has declined to that point that the inferior Ayew and corpse of Benteke play ahead of him
  3. Why would it be a finite number rather than a percentage of capacity? This is a close to a fifth of Burnley's capacity, but will be a much smaller fraction of Manchester United's.
  4. Don’t understand why they’ve taken all the pace out of it. Kane, Grealish, Mount are all pretty one paced and as likely to run toward the ball as in behind. Makes the pitch really small too. Five defenders, two midfielders that do not pass progressively, and no pace in the attacking three at all. Genuinely strange selection from Southgate.
  5. I assure it was nothing more than rank incompetence and an embarrassment upon a footballing nation that has already been frequently besmirched in the past. A disgrace. I have just seen it with my eyes.
  6. 40 yards 20 Box is ~40 yards wide in total, forgot to halve it.
  7. Very happy that this competitive match could be decided because the ball was blasted off some Wolves player's arm from a yard away, forty yards from goal.
  8. First half v Everton was easily as bad as this. Fair enough, the team was quite good for the last half I saw them play. I was actually looking forward to seeing if it would continue in this match. Almiron and Longstaff were the two that impressed me, and both have played the worst matches of the Newcastle careers today.
  9. Not in terms of result, but in terms of general play, one of the worst NUFC matches I have ever seen. The team is playing like it is asleep. Both goals, players just messing about with the ball in front of the box for no reason, constant defensive errors, static attacking, no creativity, ASM complaining from minute 1. Genuinely bizarre. This same exact team was quite good last week. I do not understand what has happened in the five days since.
  10. I have heard all manner of positive things about Leeds, but this is my first time actually watching them play, and it has been atrocious so far. They seem wildly disorganised and chaotic. Defending full of errors.
  11. Exactly my thoughts He'll occasionally head the ball in someone's arm and win penalties, seems to be his only benefit at this point. It is incredible that he is a striker that scored 0 goals last season and was brought back anyway.
  12. This boy needs to be playing regularly. He's had a downturn in his fortunes since Rafa left, but made such a difference today with his mobility, quick passing, and defensive solidity. This side is much better with an on-form Longstaff than any version of Shelvey.
  13. Very good second half, tbh. Played quite well.
  14. Juve rubbish again tonight, which has been the pattern so far. Serie A is interesting this season. Juve and Inter both underachieve given the names, pedigree, and resources they have, while the likes of Lazio, Milan, Napoli, Atalanta, etc. all play good football and have real talent despite ostensibly being a level below. Should be a good title race, though Juve will probably just win by ten points as per usual. Man U are talented and wildly inconsistent, I do not know why people rehash this discussion every time they have a good result, maybe just to hassle Froggy. The consistently show wild swings between unsustainable success and remarkable failure under Ole. It would not surprise me if they lose handily to Arsenal after this result today.
  15. Messi's finishing has been off a bit recently. I've watched them quite a bit and seems like he is missing the target on shots and taking a touch too many in the box more than I am accustomed to. It's odd because he is still playing well and creating everything, but missing the ruthless efficiency of past seasons.
  16. Is Burnley's vision just to play this wretched football ad infinitum until they are inevitably one day relegated? I am not sure if I can remember a recent side from the Championship that has had so little interest in progression. It has been five years in this league, six of the last seven, and everyone seems content with them taking up space and boring everyone. Resources cannot be an issue after five seasons with 100 million pound revenue. Rubbish. If Kane and Son are fit most of the season, Spurs seem as likely to challenge Liverpool for the title as any of these other teams.
  17. Almiron, MOTM easily. Boy has worked incredibly hard today.
  18. Poor clearance by Wilson. Heading the ball into that area under no pressure is criminal. Beautiful strike by Jimenez, tbf.
  19. Traore glistening with oil on the touchline.
  20. Longstaff and Hayden are both on the bench, so I am now even more confused as to why this team has no central midfielders.
  21. Barcelona are genuinely quite poor. Slow all over the pitch, a midfield that does not compete physically, not even much creativity outside of Messi and Fati. All of their centrebacks are mostly rubbish.
  22. Once it goes to VAR it has to be a pen IMO Agreed. Barcelona defend like idiots.
  23. Tottenham are a very good side with some very poor players in the squad. Winks is a below average Premier League player. Sanchez is just an average defender, and Aurier is far too erratic for a side with ambitions like Tottenham's. Mourinho will be criticised for making changes, but his side will play three matches every week for essentially the entire season. He will have to rely on those players and they are not good enough.
  24. The most annoying part of watching this player is hearing the commentator every week talk about what he "has in his locker" the "ability he has" when he plays his 50th long pass directly to the keeper, has an unnecessarily difficult pass blocked, or plays a long diagonal that does not progress the team. You would think he was some version of Pirlo, and it was NUFC that was holding him back. Jonjo has attributes; his goal record from midfield is good and he is fairly progressive with the ball, but the negatives outweigh the positives, imo. You will never build a serious team with him as one the two midfielders. Defensively, he is lazy and has the dynamism of Anita and Colback. Going forward, he is slow on and off the ball. Shelvey will never be anything more than an decent player for a poor team or a bench player for a decent one. He'd have no place in a serious side.
