  1. I don't understand why you have to be angry at anyone. Ashley did what you would expect any club owner to do. Carroll did what you would expect any footballer to do. If anything, my anger lies with Torres/Liverpool/Chelsea for distorting the situation to a ridiculous degree. Even then, I can't be angry with the success of others. Mostly, just disappointed with the situation and how quickly this chapter of NUFC's history has unfolded. As always, I am looking forward.
  2. Carroll was more of a "gangster" than Ranger. Nile is younger and has a less violent record. I'm sure people will forgive his faults if he starts finding the target regularly. Loaning out Xisco seems foolish now, imo, unless we are planning to play 4-5-1 exclusively.
  3. Newcastle believe they can stay up with what they have and reload in the summer. Blackpool fear they are relegated if Adam is sold. Massive difference. Both players were being pursued for double their value, though.
  4. That's quite an assumption to make. I think he'll do alright, but I really don't think he'll ever do anything to justify 35 million pounds, except for being English.
  5. Did Ashley hold your hand as well when you signed the contract? I wish he would just shut up and stop lying to the supporters. The price was far too much for Ashley to want to turn down, and he'll happily take the fifty thousand a week payrise as compensation for leaving his home town. This whole thing is too surreal for me to be emotional about. It's mad.
  6. Don't say that! Everyone on here'll start saying that you're mad and that Carroll loves the Toon, and that its all Ashley's fault that we've just sold an inexperienced but full of potential player for more than Barcelona signed David Villa for. If someone offers £35million for any of our other players, I'd accept those bids too. I really don't think this makes us a 'selling' club. I just think this is an outrageous some of money, that is so far above his realistic value its absurd, and he's asked to leave. So get rid and move on  My view pretty much. To hell with Carroll. He wanted gone, and we have received a fee far beyond what is reasonable for a player who's done so little in his career. Hopefully, we can finish the season on a positive note and spend the funds well. That is all I am thinking about.
  7. Crouch really is pretty decent and has been good for Spurs, imo. I'd definitely have him here for a short term replacement either through loan or a low priced transfer. He's better than any striker we have right now by an insanely wide margin.
  8. When the hell was there an even playing field? This is nothing new to me. This is the way football has been my entire lifetime. The only difference now is larger sums and different clubs. Carroll is a man, and like most men he is thinking for himself. I remember people were arguing he would never leave us for the likes of Liverpool and Spurs, but this is not the reality for any footballer. Shearer is a one-off is so many ways.
  9. Dimitri Payet looks set to sign for PSG. Very good player. Slightly surprised he is staying in the country.
  10. 35 million is just a ridiculous fee. Wouldn't it be the highest ever fee paid by a British club? I really don't want Carroll to go, but at 35 million, I can see it happening. It's depressing, but that is football. I cannot believe how this has progressed. All clubs sell players. It is not a reason to stop supporting the club. Hopefully Carroll will just stay.
  11. Similarly, I must be some sort of giant as Wikipedia lists the average Nigerian as 1.64. I think it has more to do with diet and socioeconomics than anything. The North and East Europeans generally seem to be the tallest people anyway. edit: I'm 33 centimetres taller than average according to Wiki
  12. arry will wish they stop playing like s*** still makes the week after deadline day moderately interesting
  13. I can guarantee that Spain is a taller nation than the likes of Nigeria, Brazil, Ghana, etc, yet all of those teams tend to put a greater emphasis on pace and power than Spain.
  14. What? Any of them would be fantastic signings for Spurs. It's a bit mad o wait until the end of the window to start throwing massive bids at so many players. The Spurs/Chelsea January 2001 method of doing business is very odd.
  15. I wouldn't become a pompous idiot just because I achieved modest financial success like Ireland.
  16. Not many people believed that Dortmund would be running away with the title in such fashion. Absolutely stunning the way things have gone. This Marseille-Monaco game is unbelievably awful. There is no way we will the title playing like this. France in general has been a mess this season. No one looks anything more than average. Lille have been the best team, but I am still not overly impressed. OM, OL, and PSG (entirely unsurprising) have been disappointing. I've always found Spain to be the most tedious of the top five leagues.
  17. Vela won't get in the team ahead or Osaze or Tchoyi. They still don't have a target man, which is what they actually needed. When teams stop them passing, it is just Osaze chasing lost causes by himself for 90 minutes. Very ineffective.
  18. Give him time. Absolute class player that I really cannot see being a failure. Nice to see Obinna with the hattrick. Happy for him. West Ham really have a very decent strikeforce with Ba, Nsofor, Piquionne, Cole, and some decent young players. I really think they'll will stay up but I've been waiting for them to turnit around all year now.
  19. I don't see how keeping Jonas in the team over someone who hasn't played decent football in over a year warrants laughter or ridicule, but I suppose this is much easier than actual debate.
  20. Imo, Nolan and Ireland should be competing for the same position. Both are rather lazy, mecurial players that offer little in terms of ball winning or defence. Ideally, I would put Barton back in the centre and maintain Jonas and HBA as the wings. Ireland should be a legitimate option of off the bench. Something we have not had in ages. I would like to sign him permanently.
  21. It's not "irrelevant". He was alright in the relegation season, but his best performances have occurred in the Championship and this season. That's not really a big enough sample size for most clubs to justify spending that much. He's not easily the third best LB either considering his complete lack of attacking game and lack of technical ability. Que? Actually you are correct, he doesn't really lack technical ability, it's more that he has difficulty completing passes and gives the ball away a fair bit. In an attacking sense, he's not a very good crosser, and rarely creates a threat in the opponents final third.

  23. 8-10 million is a fantastic price for a 25 year old non-international left back at a newly promoted club. I'd be stunned if anyone was willing to pay us more than that.
  24. Simpson's mother must be an attractive girl.
  25. Of course, man. I have many tapes of them back at my old home. I've only seen bits and pieces, but I did my best to follow the plot until I was about 15 or 16. I even remember Monday Bandele. Class show. Sunderland have a very real opportunity for Europe this season, and they made some good acquisitions toward that goal. However, the Bent situation has exposed the reality of things. They are still a small-time club, with a small boy mentality. I do not see them progressing. However, they do seem a stable Premiership club, which is frankly more than their supporters should expect.
