  1. The "filling the bench with youth players who probably won't make it at the club" strategy is probably not ideal for a top club competing on four fronts.
  2. they've been playing like this for weeks tbh They have four irreplaceable players and are missing three. Sunderland are rubbish, though. horrible team and they'll probably still lose.
  3. Characteristic from Cech. Why? He's not particularly good.
  4. He's looked awful every time I've seen him. Lacks composure, skill, and power to be a dominant player in the Premiership.Runs around a lot but does nothing with the ball.
  5. Clichy barely knows how to defend anymore. I don't know what the problem is with Arsenal and fullbacks. Sagna has declined for no real reason. Remember looked like becoming one of the world's best players? Now he is just a headless chicken who's took stupid to defend and too unreliable to start on the wings.
  6. Yeah, not many easily attainable players that would be decent additions. We'd have to throw money onto the fire if we want somebody from England. It's best to look abroad, imo. Might be out of reach, but I'm wondering how much Lorient want for Gameiro.
  7. Gibbs is a very good player. I'd be surprised if Clichy is at Arsenal for more than another year. He might be the better player already.
  8. I was actually surprised team like Cardiff, QPR, etc. didn't look at him. Weird to let a very competent Championship striker go to your main rival for the title. They must have known something we didn't
  9. I can't see Payet or Hoarau coming here unless we get to Europe or really are willing to spend on wages and transfer fees. Payet was ridiculously good earlier in the season, I'd definitely take him here. Hoarau is more skillful than Carroll and probably a better finisher, but nowhere near as much of a pure brute. Can't see why we'd want such a similar player anyway. Much prefer we went after Erding if we are serious about PSG strikers.
  10. Well yeah, if we fail to win all of our remaining home matches, then we might be in a bit of trouble. Could say that for every team in the league.
  11. If you have Carroll upfront then you should be launching the ball to him the majority of the time the keeper has it. It's part of him being a weapon. Drogba's team has plenty of ballplayers, but they still launch it to him when he's on the pitch. It's a useful strategy.
  12. On the other hand, after 5 years in British climate surely Adebayor would've acclimatised somewhat? You don't acclimatise. You just accept. Cold is cold.
  13. Nothing to do with the league, man. You can't do that in the penalty box in any league, anywhere. You're right though, it's good that he was emotional for the goal. Even machines can develop deep feelings for this amazingly wonderful football club. He'll learn from it and improve, and quite frankly I am amazed that he has earned my trust in such a short span of time.
  14. Still trying to figure out what the hell he was doing for Blackburn's goal, though. It is not like he had cut off a break and had space to run in to. There had been a free-kick and almost everyone on the pitch was in our half. The only options he had were to smash a clearance or lay it off wide to Enrique. I don't what business he had running forward like that. Even if it was "stuck in his feet", he should use his strength and low centre of gravity to hold the player off. Instead he panics and walks in Gamst. Just a ridiculous error from a player who has done very well for us.
  15. Only a few players in the world have the ability to consistently do this sort of thing successfully. Most of them are at the world's top clubs. It is very nice to see, and helps us to get started again when we win the ball, but his primary objective is to not lose the ball in a dangerous areas. Has to learn when this is acceptable and when he should just clear.
  16. He shouldn't be. If he does his job correctly, he'll see a lot of time and space on the ball allowing him to help push the attack. These types of games should be the easiest for him, actually.
  17. I still cannot believe that Toure is the farthest forward of the three central midfielders. It's baffling. He's a good player with a surprisingly effective passing range, but they need someone who will contribute goals and good quality final balls. They also tend not to dominate possession in the way you would expect given the players in the centre. When you watch Chelsea and Inter, they dominate and pin the other team in the penalty box.
  18. Is Xisco suspended or missing? I don't see why he isn't an option. From what I have seen him, I'd be more confident in him tucking the ball away if it fell to him in the penalty box. no reason he shouldn't be thrown on in these type of situations.
  19. This is where our horrible lack of options upfront will show. We are relatively healthy in this area, yet the only people we could put on are the invisible striker and an u-20.
  20. 1-1, imo. We'll score early, they'll score a controversial ugly goal around the 60th minute and we'll spend the rest of the match looking dangerous but not breaking them down.
