  1. I feel like some club will spend 10 million or so on Pavlyuchenko. He's a decent player anyway.
  2. When there's a half decent Premiership match and the commentator starts bleating on about how "Matches like this are why the Premier League is the best in the World!" I think it only happens in England. It may have been a fine match, but no one makes these kinds of exclamations when Stoke and Blackburn play to a hard-fought draw. I'll make my opinion for myself.
  3. Sevilla were asking OM for 18 million pounds for Fabiano, btw. Otherwise he would be there as he agreed a contract. He's not going anywhere cheaply. Loic Remy to Marseille is offical now, btw. I believe Spurs were after him at one point as well, KD?
  4. Just look at how many managers we've had in the past ten years. Who gives a damn if we are undermining the manager? Consistency should be the main goal and a Dof or section of the club responsible for working on transfer policy accomplishes this.
  5. I think having a general manager or DOF is simply the best way to run a club. f you look at many big continental clubs (Actually, US sports are probably the best example, the managers change all the time, but the transfer strategy remains in place because those who handle this aspect of the team are still in place. IT smooths out transition periods and allow you to take advantage of the transfer market if you do it correctly.
  6. Had a very impressive World Cup, shame they weren't in it a bit longer. Yeah, he did great despite being directly at fault for two of the goals we conceded. Great against Argentina, very average in the other two. Still a top keeper though, imo.
  7. Man is brilliant. Scored a massive penalty against Tunisia in 2006, and scored the fifth and winning penalty against Zambia in the last ACN. Says something that the manager trusted him enough to name him fifth taker. I've never seen him miss.
  8. Presumably we're supporting Sampdoria tonight. A club is much more like to throw around 8 million euro when it believes it will be getting CL revenue.
  9. So according to BBC, Prince Boateng was bought by Genoa and immediately loaned to AC Milan who will buy him at the end of the loan. Very odd deal. I presume that the future fee Milan will pay them is higher than what they paid Portsmouth. They should just hope the euro maintains its value over this period. I'm also very happy the Marseille seem to be making swift progress in trying to acquire Gignac and Remy. These should have been the original types of targets instead of targeting Fabiano, Gilardino, and similar players. Hopefully this can expedite a potential Ben Arfa to Newcastle transfer as well.
  10. I think Odemwingie is very decent. He's better than every other attacking player they have, imo. (This is more a statement about Brom than Osaze, though) I would certainly have him here. Good athlete who works hard and has good technical ability. Never a big goal scorer, but generally very helpful. Would have had him here despite his crippling selfishness.
  11. Have to say the positive additions from some of the teams around us are worrying, considering our inactivity. I think we'll finish 14th-16th, but we need to sign 2-3 more first team players to ensure this.
  12. So, Osaze Odemwingie to West Brom and Matt Derbyshire to Birmingham. Why were we not in for either of these players? Both would have been of great use to us at a fairly low price. No chance, we were s*** against the other 'big teams' did Liverpool double but that's understandable didn't once beat Man u/Chelsea/Man City We need to improve there, in our defence though some of the games such as the first Manu game we should have won and were the better team but Diaby decided he didn't want to win. Also the 4-2 defeat away at Man City was an unfair score but again, as you all say, end product innit. I distinctly remember Chelsea-Arsenal being men vs, biys last season.
  13. I don't really rate Anichebe, but I'd have him here. He's big, physical and is a legitimate hard worker who has shown willingness to play more than one position. Would not mind him as a loan.
  14. I wish OM would sort themselves the out, ffs. Were we really 3-0 down to Valenciennes? The champions are in last place after the first two matches and Lyon have 1 point from two games. I hate football again. Btw, Wigan If Blackpool stay up above us, everyone involved in the club should be banned from competitive football.
  15. Defensive-minded midfielder. A bit peculiar though, wiry, thin... has monster stamina and a great pace. The kind of player that's everywhere. I would say he isn't technically great for a Brazilian, but breaks forward well with his athleticism. Cheers That's interesting. So probably a replacement for Obi Mikel then? Sitting deeper while Lampard and Essien go forward from the middle I would assume. Hmm...From what I've seen of him, he's pretty much Essien-lite. He's likes to run around doing everything all of the time, so he's not really a holding player, I think. I suppose he could be played there though. To me it seems like he's more insurance for the oft-injured Essien and replacement for the departed Ballack.
  16. Remember the season after the last World Cup where City and NUFC were both in the doldrums? We were both playing dreadful football and avoiding a relegation scrap by virtue of having one or two superior players. It is amazing how things can change. Ibrahimovic is an absolutely top class player, btw. It's fine to question his merits as one of the world's top five strikers, but anyone who thinks he actually jut isn't good needs their head checked.
  17. I gather that Dave doesn't like defensive/holding midfield players, but the guy is fantastic. Stop judging him on that West Ham match from 2006. He's a different player now. Consistently a top performer in the Premiership, Champions League and on the international stage with Argentina.
  18. That's low if anything. Chelsea have paid 20 million for that Ramires (though hes not exclusively a DM tbf). Yaya Toure was 24 million. Even Carrick and Mikel (DMs at Man U and Chelsea respectively) were 18 million and 16 million a few years ago. Why shouldn't Mascherano be worth more?
  19. Tbf to Ashley, the offr probaly wouldn't have been insulting a week ago before Niang was sold. There will robaly be no loan or cut price deal for the player at this point has time. The bottom line is that the price has gone up and our disposable income has not.
  20. That would be a bit of slap in the face to Busquets it would seem. Can you really see someone who just started on the winning team in the WC final to accept a probable position on the reserve bench? Hleb would be a good replacement for Benayoun at Liverpool anyway.
  21. Still cannot believe they can expect to treat a player this badly and then suddenly expect him to be bleeding the team's colours when they suddenly need his services. The whole thing has been handled incredibly poorly.
  22. The world and rival clubs does not have access to press conferences and post match interviews?
  23. Hilarious. In a world where James Milner costs £30m, this kid's going for about £6-8m and we're trying to LOAN him??? Ashley's even dumber than I gave him credit for. I just think you've got a really big chip on your shoulder, and because of that it makes discussing Newcastle difficult . This approach has seen us relegated once and will probably see us relegated again. If I've a chip on my shoulder, it's well earned. What approach? We know nothing of this deal, have the club said we bid for him? No Marseille have done all the talking. Exactly, we know what Marseille have said. Newcastle have said there's been nothing happening, when there clearly has, NUFC under Ashley have 'lie' as their default setting. This is just a ridiculous statement. Castigate Ashley as much as you want, I suppose, but not many clubs have 'inform the world of our behind the scene transfers dealings'as their default setting. It is a hardly a lie. I'm sorry where did I say we had to inform the world? But I've seen us play it down from minute one, so far as to never at one point have I seen us declare an interest if there's a ridiculous statement here, it's yours. How would releasing a media statement of any sort not be informing the world? Why should we have to inform the media outlets of any progress? I'm rather pleased our transfer strategy doesn't include releasing ridiculous statements to placate the fans. Get the player signed and then take the plaudits. The Marseille fans on that forum appear to believe that this Niang leaving will mean he is a guaranteed starter there. OMPLANETE is full of idiots, if this is the one you are talking about. Too massive to be helpful. Anyway, if the Luis Fabiano deal comes off (as it seems it will), then I think he would be a direct replacement for Niang in our systems. You're probably likely to know more about this than anyone, but what's the chances of him digging his heels in for the move? Seemingly the way he has been messed about by Deschamps, is he the kind of character to accept it and stay or will bridges be burned so to speak? The situation between him and Deschamps is tenuous, but at the end of the day, he does have a clause to leave at the end of next season and is playing at CL club. From the beginning, it wasnt really as much Ben Arfa trying to force a move as the management trying to sell him. I suppose it depends how much this has hurt HBA. The management does seem rather stronghanded, though. Taiwo was throwing up a storm about leaving for Atletico, but they denied him quite aggresively.

  25. They've spunked £16 million a pile of s**** tbf. To think what we could get with that money Coloccini and Xisco. We've really bought better with less money under Ashley, tbf. It's his big money signings that have done us, actually.
