Ligue 1 is quite fast and physical. Much more so than Spain. Several players from Spain, Portugal, etc actually have trouble adjusting to this league. I think the adjustment will be a fair bit easier. Also, OM under Deschamps were a team that focused on physical attributes and played a strong quick style.

26 goals in 92 games in Italy and 14 goals in 47 games in France, hardly proved himself to be a good striker in either league. It's not all about statistics, ffs. blah blah blah How many full games have you seen him play? I've seen him play many times internationally and at club level. Kezman you are right in a sense. Gyan isn't worth 13 million and Muntari can't start for a club like Inter, but they both have been consistently good players thoughout their careers. it is not their fault that foolish clubs heap so much pressure on them. Gyan was verygood for Rennes last year btw. Combining that with his exploits with the Black Queens he had a fantastic 09-10.

The self importance and aeeogance in Dave's argument is striking. You can definitely tell he comes from a"big" European nation. No different than those calling for a European super league among Europe's "big" clubs. Every country should be given an equal chance to qualify and every nation should have to prove itself over a qualifying campaign. No one has a birth right. Hell, some of these nations will cherish it for years if they can knock one goal at Wenbley. Hunour them. Edit: arguing with sicko actually. Dave has a fair point and one I can sympathise with after watching Nigeria bs its way in tocompetitions.

26 goals in 92 games in Italy and 14 goals in 47 games in France, hardly proved himself to be a good striker in either league. It's not all about statistics, ffs. Unlike you, I've actually seen him play throughout this period of time. He impressed with Udinese before his injury and litany of clubs were after him. Rennes paid a lot for him and last year was probably the best of his career with him being near the top of scoring charts for most of the season. His pace, power, and skill have made him a dangerous and useful player in every stage of his career. I actually hate the guy, but he's a fine player. He's not worth 13 million pounds, but that's what happens when you buy a World Cup star on deadline day. I'm excited about Carroll, but he's not proven anything. Plenty of players have looked good at 21 or in their first matches in the Premiership. Let us give him time to develop before anointing him to some sort of deity.

I'm going to guess that Lusikka is Finnish.

Dunga's Brazil would have had him, in my opinion. Of course I don't watch him as often as a Spurs supporter but he impressed me in the midfield destroyer role last season. He can't pass a football.

There's nothing wrong with the original comment, btw. Getting called up by Brazil suggests more ability, just as studying at Oxford suggests more ability than studying a Northumbria. There is more competition. Obviously, there are exceptions and it is by no means a rule, but it still is part of the screening process. The fact that I could walk into the Seychelles team at centreback doesn't make me a top footballer. I'm not saying they are "small", just not great in terms of achievement at the highest possible stage. And the 1950s Hungary team is one of the most influential of all time. I just think that makes the criteria too large for what you were discussing. There's a difference between playing for a competitive nation with many good players (West African teams, Korea, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Turkey, etc.) and playing for teams with little chance of any success like Weah with Liberia.
-
To be fair, a limited player like Palacios would be nowhere near Brazil's team. Sandro's probably only there because he's yute anyway.
-
You can't really consider the top African, Asian, and North American teams to be "small" nations when they have players throughout all of the top leagues and are consistently in big tournaments. Especially in the current, I would hardly consider Hungary to be better than these teams.

Carroll did pretty well last year in an inferior league and is in good form right now, but Gyan has proven himself a good player in two top leagues and on several occasions internationally.

Transfer Window slams shut; makes huge f*ck off slamming sound

That's hardly his fault though. I said during the World Cup that it was utterly criminal he was being overlooked. The African nations at the WC learned the "Don't hire random foreign managers a month before the tournament" lesson at the World Cup. All of these new coaches didn't know their best team for the first match. You only get three. We should have fired the old incompetent ones before the ACN if at all. It's been two months, and I still have no idea what Le Guen was playing at. -
There's 64 matches at every World Cup.
-
50? I'm struggling to think of 10. I enjoyed the World Cup a lot, but the only time I can remember being flabbergasted (standing up, mouth open) was when Suarez handballed on the line and Gyan missed. Actually, Aiyegbeni and Kaita gave me the same expression, but that was more anger than anything.
-
Aiyegbeni's record speaks for itself.

Playing barefoot would make my whole food painted blue. You should really try. It's very comfortable and liberating. The only problem is idiots who fly in with their studs up and/or don't clip their nail.
-
Your not depriving them of anything, clubs can still sign players and contracts signed, its the registration that is late. i.e the transfer can go through anytime but the player won;t be registered and cannot play until the next window. RM would still get their money. Yeah, fair point actually. It would be ridiculous to hold a player's career in limbo because of something so minuscule as paperwork though.
-
Even if you give no reason for lateness, most place will probably accept the assignment with some sort of penalty. Actually, I think this is the best solution. Spurs should be made to pay a fine for causing FA employees to work past 6 pm.
-
As long as Spurs were in the process of completing the deal before the deadline hit, I'm perfectly fine with the deal going through. The transfer window should be a rough outline of when players can switch clubs. We should not be depriving Real Madrid of eight million pounds because Tottenham's paperwork arrived a bit late.
-
Of yes, when I played football, my toes were always filled with blood. Absolutely awful. Honestly, I prefer playing barefoot as I'll at least be able to walk after I'm finished playing.

 This guy, man. My girl thinks HBA is quite a stunner, btw.

You aren't normally one of the posters who misuses the English language. What have you done with the real Babatunde? The real Babatunde hates semicolons. -

I can't see Spurs surviving with Keane up front in that formation. VDV signing is more incentive for him to leave, imo. Modric can play on the left, right? If he can than 4-2-3-1 with Huddlestone and Palacios holding, Lennon, VDV, and Modric as the 3 AMs, and "the striker you should have signed" upfront would be the ideal team. -
Forster is quite ugly imo, and our two new signings HBA and Cheick will both do well with women in the area.
