  1. Ballack and Deco are quite good in moderation, and Ferreira is their third choice right back. Their really bottling this right now. "Anybody but Manchester United" are my third favourite team, so I really hope Chelsea can pull this out. They have the talent.
  2. 1878 reminded me of Jageilka, Kezman. I had forgotten about his existence. I think Lescott has been rubbish this season personally. Really had a sharp decline for some reason. Kezman you can't really tell can you? Beauty of being a football supporter. I personally don't think Mancienne will be "great", but I think he'll be a starter for a team in the higher regions of the Premiership. If Chelsea maintain their status, then I don't think he'll really ever make it there. That's the third best club in the world right now.
  3. No he is not. Upson is not even in the top 5. Only Terry, Ferdinand, and Jagielka are definitely better. King and Woodgate are too injury prone. Others are declining. If you need evidence that you cannot decide on a player at 22, look at Chelsea's best player, Drogba. Where was he at 22? I'd definitely give the Seychelles Superstar a chance if Chelsea offer him to us.
  4. Matthew Upson is England's third best central defender after Arsenal loaned him out constantly.
  5. I'm not that big on Mancienne, but this is ridiculous. Terry, Alkex, Carvalho, and Ivanovic are all top class defenders in the prime of their careers. He's no chance of being ahead of Mikel Obi, Essien, or Ballack as midfield anchor. Chelsea even have three high quality right backs, ffs. If he was already in the side, he would have to be one of the best defenders or holding midfielders in the world. Hell, Yoann Gourcuff was on loan last year from a club with less talent than Chelsea, and I think most would agree he is a "decent player".
  6. I've been hearing a lot of positive things about Samson Sia Sia and Sunday Oliseh in regards to their coaching. Surely one of them should be giving an opportunity at some point? Is Sia Sia still managing the juniors? Siasia quit that post. He was working in Asia, and last I heard was trying to be the new manager of Zambia. I like him a lot. His u-20 and Olympics teams really played the exciting football that Nigeria is capable of producing and achieved great success in the process. He's a bit big headed, though. Already had rows with several players and administrators. Oliseh is off learning his trade in Europe. Which is the path more should take. Don't forget the likes of Stephen Keshi who led Togo to WC 2006. Really, the first generation of African players to penetrate Europe are reaching 40-50 now so more coaches should be coming up soon. Quite a few former players are trying management. There is talent, it is a matter of picking the right ones and supporting them fully. Back on topic: Why exactly are MKD looking to get rid of Ince anyway? They to be doing well enough in midtable.
  7. I think it is Nigeria you are thinking of. We sacked Amodu after a poor (third place) Nations Cup showing. He was replaced by Lars Lagerback. Funnily enough, Amodu also qualified Nigeria for the 2002 World Cup, but was sacked before he could take them there. His replacement that time was another Nigerian though. This probably has a lot to do with him being a horrible manager, but still it is a shame we can't be led by one of our own.
  8. Didn't stop Obama from putting 'black' instead of 'mixed race' on his census form. Believe it or not, as per my understanding, there's a law in countries like the US and SA that states that even if you have a 'bit' of black in you, you're counted 'black' legally. There was some furore in both those countries to have that law overturned but unless I'm mistaken it still stands. More perception than anything else in the US. Most half-caste people are said to be black. Probaly from past ideas of "African blood contaminating white blood". I think they count "mixed race" people as well, though. I wish there were more black managers, but you only need to look at the fact that Nigeria and Ivory Coast are taking white managers to the WC to see why there are not. There's a lack of blacks being given opportunities not only in England, France, etc., but in Africa itself. If Black nations will not support the cause of Black managers than I see no reason why Europeans should be obligated to.
  9. This is one of the pettiest things I've ever heard. 12 months is still a year, no matter what month it begins from. How is the season 12 months. If the season was twelve months long, it would go on continuously from now until the rapture. The season is 9-10 months long, and anyone who refers to this as a year is a foolish person. The name should be changed. People said similar things about Carrick, and to be fair he has more than held his own and has enhanced his reputation since leaving the Spuds. Carrick was successful up until this season, definitely. Milner is not as good a passer as Carrick though. I don't think Milner has the class to succeed in the centre of midfield at the highest level, or the pace, explosiveness, and trickery to help Man U on the wings. I think Villa under O'Neill is a brilliant fit for his talents.
  10. Always annoys me how these awards are for "Player of the Year", when the season has blatantly taken place in two seperate years. Ridiculous that Luka Modric isn't in the Young Player's list, when you consider he was 23 at the start of the season. As an aside, I think Milner will be bought by Man U this summer for 20 million pounds, be a massive flop there, and be sold back to a midtable side where he will flourish. That is his career plan.
  11. Title is probaly gone if they don't get full points.
  12. I rememer Dembele missing a penalty against us when we played AZ at SJP. He looked decent. That Shota Arveladze was the best player on the pitch, outside of Sibi and Oba. Probaly retired now though.
  13. Mokoena is literally ine of the worst footballers on Earth. He's unbelievably terrible. I hope to God he never dons our shirt. He's like Amdy Faye except blind and intoxicated.
  14. The main goal of this season was to get promoted. It's hard to do this when your in a title race. I'm sure Chelsea would love to throw out Scott Sinclair and Mancienne every once in a while, but it's hard to do that when you need to finish in the top position.
  15. Still on loan at Malaga. I know because it's the same club Obinna is on loan at. We should get him in earlu June before he has the chance to showcase his talents at the WC. Good player with ample PL experience. Is he likely to be called up? I'd be slightly peeved if i was a Nigerian player who played all the qualifiers and he just walks straight into the squad at the last minute.....especially after he'd been turning Nigeria down on different occasions beforehand. The coach reached out to him, and went to England to meet with him, so I think it is probable he would be involved if he does make the decision final. I welcome it. He was born in the country, is still very young, and could really help us in a position where we are still trying to figure things out. Kaka..Briand suffered a serious ACL injury last season that kept him out up until the New Year. He's back now and playing fairly well. He's never been prolific, but is still a very good player, imo. He's been linked with a move to the top clubs in France over the summer. he`s only just turned 28 last week so I don`t think he`s that old.... oh, thought he was 31 or so. Ok, he's not too old then. Still not good enough imo. I would take Hitz in a second, man! Not great, but definitely more than adequate for a club in our position. When was the last time when had a midfielder that could actually shoot?!
  16. Still on loan at Malaga. I know because it's the same club Obinna is on loan at. We should get him in earlu June before he has the chance to showcase his talents at the WC. Good player with ample PL experience. wonder how much Spurs would want for him.....he`s cost £75 million in transfer fees during his career so far. As for Kuranyi....I don`t think it`s realistic with clubs like Juve sniffing about for him. He`s also been hinting at staying there, especially if Schalke manage to win the title (finally) and play in the Champions League. Schalke apparently don't have the money to keep him. Can only repeat what I've said before, would never want to have him here. Not a player who seems to care too much about football and his attitude is s*** sometimes. For a player who doesn't care about football, his goals AND appearances record are way better than some we have had who professed to 'LOVE' the club - Shola for one, Dyer for another....check Kuranyi's stats out. Both of those comparisons are rather irrelevant. Shola is a far inferior player who struggled with injuries. Dyer has never been accused of being too committed, and he's had bad injury troubles as well. The fact is Kuranyi is a recipe for the kind of signinigs that have hurt us in the past. Player already in his prime, on massive wages that has been documented as a bit of a headcase. Not a chance in hell he comes here, btw.
  17. 15 minutes. Barça: Valdés; Alves, Márquez, Piqué, Maxwell; Touré, Xavi, Jeffren; Messi, Bojan, Pedro Depor: Aranzubia; Manuel Pablo, Lopo, Piscu, Laure; Antonio Tomás, Sergio, Guardado, Pablo Álvarez, Juan Rodríguez, Riki Barca wins.
  18. Looking at the bench, it was a choice between Rose or another random youngster. As usual, Spurs seem injury hit.
  19. Crouch hasn't exactly been prolific this season, or anything. It's not his God-given right to start. He'll come in off the bench at some point anyway.
  20. Arsenal's starting XI is amazingly weak for a team that is fighting for a title. I think this will be a 1-1 draw.
  21. 1990 is way before anything I can coherently remember, and I would have been less than one during that WC. It was interesting to see the Italy team though. I swear Maldini, Mancini, and Ancelotti look exactly the same as they did 20 years ago.
  22. The own goal was brilliant comedy  Easier to laugh as we've won the game and were promoted regardless. Were people really trying to blame Steve Harper for that
  23. Carling Cup, every time. England are only there to fill in the gaps every other summer (apart from the summer of 08 though). Though I would rather England win trophies ahead of every other nation. Carling Cup is bloody tinpot though. Chances are it will be gone in a few years anyway. So, I'd rather see Newcastle win something then England win something, club ahead of country. We're the only country on the planet that puts clubs before our own country I'm inclined to agree, but it's sad I think. i'll bet you'll find many people abroad who'll put their domestic teams fortunes before their national teams ? Unless you live in one of the better regions of Europe, chances are you don't support your domestic teams at all, never mind putting them above your nation. I can proudly state where I'm from, but I'm not living or dying based on the fortunes of Ibadan Shooting Stars, or any other teams in that corrupt, mismanaged s***hole of a league. I personally regard NUFC and Marseille above my "local" team and my country above all. I heavily doubt that any foreign supporter of European club is putting them above their country, unless their Indian and no one cares.
  24. I want it all!! Champions, Unbeaten Home record, and Kevin Nolan top scorer. It's well within reach.
  25. They've been rubbish. Game should have been over some time ago.
