  1. I feel sorry for anyone who has their career and livelihood messed about with because of the kind of nonsense that's gone on at this club recently. Feel very bad for him as a footballer. I won't be putting on a benefit gig though.
  2. Mouyokolo seemed decent when I saw him before.
  3. It always surprises me how tiny Christopher Hughton is. Maybe that's why people don't think of him as an authoritative prescence.
  4. I just hope these two Premiership years have been the best trip Hull has ever been on. It's time to go home and back to the nothingness from whcih they came.
  5. Wait till someone like messi scores, I had them for the barca madrid game and some of the lines they came off with was unreal Are you talking about Ray Hudson? He's brilliant He'll go on about the "orgasmic brilliance released from Messi beautiful little Argentine foot" or something similar.
  6. I love how Ryan Taylor has managed to look totally emotionless and unaffected. I know it's not for a good reason, but seeing an NUFC side celebrate with a trophy still warms my heart.
  7. We had similar crowds for 2006 as well (when the matches were on after midnight.) 2002 was such a profound shared cultural experience for us... It's basically imprinted into our DNA to flock to the streets when world cup footy is on now. I personally think we have a very good chance of making the second round. We've got our best team ever and Greece and Nigeria(sorry babatunde ) both look very beatable to me. Of course, it'll still require some good form and plenty of luck on our part. I definitely feel the same emotions about the World Cup, man. In a country with so many divisions and problems, supporting the Super Eagles is one thing every can agree about. I feel the same about our group as well. I'm not scared of Greece, and Togo gave you lot fits last time before the red card, so I'm confident that we can finish the job that our little brothers started. We have a score to settle with Argentina after all that we've gone through against them. I hope our boys can go win that one on the bask of supporters from Nigerians all over the world and all on the continent of Africa.
  8. Comparing Smith to Butt is like comparing a bad automobile to a diseased horse. Smith is not of the highest quality, but Nicky Butt is a 1000 times less effective despite Smith's flaws.
  9. I agree. Is there anyway he stays? That just seems like a failed marriage. Divorce may be best for all.
  10. I think it's more of: Were linked with a player most hadn't seen play. Most of us were skeptical. We saw him against our team, and he looked a very good player. Now people are comfortable with the idea.
  11. That's a fair point, tbh. Still, Butt did provide our most skillful and athletic moment of the season.
  12. He's been a moderate success at Lyon, man. Not that prolific, but he never has been. He's way way out of our league anyway. Gomis was absolute terrible from the buildup of Euro 2008 and throughout last season, but still commanded a large fee and seems to have found himself again this year.
  13. I really don't get your Theirry Henry point, man. Henry is 6'2. Messi is 5'6. He's a pretty powerful player as well. He doesn't throw players around, but he runs like a horse and it is difficult to stop him when he's running. You don't have to be built like an NFL player to be strong and durable.
  14. Yes, that is exacly what I mean, Decky. I have no problem with the club confronting Butt at that time and telling him that it is really unlikely he will play much more this season, and while he remains an important senior figure at the club, they would like to permanently handover the captaincy to a player with a larger role on the pitch. This happens at clubs all of the time. What doesn't happen is clubs telling their captain he can't lift a trophy because he didn't play a lot.
  15. Give it a f***ing rest, man. I definitely agree it's not an ideal situation having the man as captain, but that's how things are. If the club didn't want things this way, they should have acted to give it to someone else when it became clear that Butt was no longer a serious part of our playing staff. However, I think it would be classless to not allow him to lift the trophy, when it is the club themselves who have made this situation.
  16. Butt is our captain, and while he may not be out leader in a physical sense, he is a spiritual prescence at the club. He has been given this role for a reason. I certainly would not begrudge him if his last act as a Newcastle player was to lift the trophy.
  17. It is our turn to experience glory. We are going to paint the world green-white-green. The trophy will not leave Africa!! I am quietly confident we can get out of our group. We've always given Argentina a game when we've played them, and we have no reason to be scared of Greece or South Korea. (No disrepect, I imagine they feel the same about us) If we manage that we would play France/Uruguay/Mexico/SA in the second round. Not scared of any of these teams. From that point anything can happen. People are writing us off, but I like this. Underestimate Naija and our Super Eagles at your own peril. As for US-England, I am going for US, tbh. I like it when the colony punishes the master. I hope we can do the same to them one day.
  18. He's mental, born in Belgium so his age is not in question, he's like Altidore but with technique. Don't know when being compared to Altidore became a complement. What does he have 1 or 2 goals in 28 appearances this season? Not to mention his attitude problems. He's Balotelli with less talent.
  19. Still, Atletico are vastly more talented than Fulham. Actually Wolfsburg and Juventus are both far more talented than them. I'd be dreaming either way as a Fulham supporter. Ridiculously presumptuous to talk about Fulham in the final though. 0-0 away isn't a great result. One goal by Hamburg at the Cottage and things get murky.
  20. If our striker force next season consists of Carroll and Lovenkrands than I believe we will definitely struggle. This is an idea I can support. Kezman, I just don't see our coaching staff changing our system to placate a young "luxury player" as you put it. He would probaly start when we played 4-5-1, but I think to this point Hughton has favoured 4-4-2. Much like Nolan, I really think he is competing with the second striker for a position on the field. I think he might actually be a better option off the bench anyway, running at tired legs and creating. Oga please enlighten us on the prospects of signing Mevlut Erding who we have been recently linked with in the French media. Also, what kind of player would he be? Oga Finally someone greets me the proper way. Honestly, I don't see why Erding would come. We should have been in for him while he was still at Sochaux. PSG are rubbish, but he'll be on rather good wages, and I'd imagine bigger clubs would be in for him. If he leaves it will probably be for a team competing in Europe. He's a very good player, though. Very skillful and has great pace and has looked pretty good in front of goal this season. He's very exciting to watch, and seems quite durable/strong as well. I think he's headed for great things. This is his first season at a decent club and he's been a undoubted success. Sessegnon (I wish he born a country to the right. We could use him with Mikel and co in midfield.) and Hoarau would be great signings from PSG as well, but they are also probably going to bigger clubs.
  21. Isn't he past it/not reliable as much as he used to be? I think it was two or three years ago that he played for every single second of Everton's Premiership campaign, so I doubt he's reliable as before. Still a good player, imo though. Seems lie the French media are hyping up the idea of Andre Pierre Gignac coming to Marseille in the summer. I am right now expressing how pleasing this would be to me. I think a striker like him to lead the line is one of the last pieces to being the definitive best team in France and also European contenders. Much better than the likes of Brandao and Morientes.
  23. Taarabt would require playing a five man midfield and no Nolan. I doubt he's starting every game, man. In fact, he'd probaly come off of the bench if we signed him. Maybe slightly unrealistic, but how about Sidney Govou? He'll be 31 next season, so aging a bit, but he's out of contract in the summer. I think he's been a very good player for quite a while now. Would be good as another option on the wings or upfront. Also, with the recently released information about him having intercourse with underage immigrant prostitutes, maybe some clubs will be scared off of him.
  24. What? First of all, La Liga is not exclusively Spanish. I think Yaya Toure could kick the hell out of 99 percent of footballers. Secondly, I think in the modern game the levels of physicality do not differ as heavily across Europe as they once did.
  25. Very average player. He probaly could play in the Premiership, but he really is nothing special at all. M'Bia was a pretty decent player, though. He's found a home at centreback it seems.
