  1. Shola is close to fitness. He'll make up for missed time.
  2. It's a shame that they weren't the average standard though. billytray was saying Pele was doing it against better competition, but that is simply untrue. The standard of football was worse, the defending was worse, and players were less athletic. Tactics were less developed as well. It is ridiculous to say any from the 60's faced better competition than those in top leagues currently.
  3. Was the average standard of footballer in the 1960's really better than it is at the present? I would doubt that.
  4. Pompey would only have been four or five adrift without the penalty. It was a possibilty unti they hit administration.
  5. Actually, it is quite surprising that teams are not already doing this, just for the extra income it provides forom rabid fans who will buy whatever the team wears. I guess that is the point of those third strips that teams almost never actually wear, but some US teams will wear around six different strips in a season.
  6. Imo, it speaks volumes that no one has snapped up Gamst from Blackburn all these years. Inconsistent, lazy player who does something brilliant once in a red moon, nothing more.
  7. http://www.hullcityafc.net/javaImages/e9/70/0,,10338~3829993,00.jpg These days he is much more akin to a pauper..or a queen (depending on his cellmate).
  8. Who signed him, btw? Seems like he came in right at the end of the Allardyce regime.
  9. This season, yes. When we are in the Premiership, no...not at all. The truth of the matter is that someone like me will definitely have seen less of the football. It is only a problem when big headed idiots use it in an insulting way.
  10. Does Sno know the rules of football. He's fouled in every minute he's been on the pitch.
  11. Sno has no place on a football pitch. Amazing to think he was once considered a promising player.
  12. Such a waste of a Saturday afternoon this is. I'm currently watching an internet stream of someone taping a television screen and we're playing rubbish.
  13. Want West Ham to win. Really don't want Arsenal to win the title. Delighted to see Kanu get the winner also. The King is back!
  14. Match is by no means over, yet. I think we have a decent shot to get back into this game.
  15. Left I always thought that, and I was certain he was watching him, until he took a penalty with his right v Reading or someone and I was dumbfounded... Very two footed player. Not a penalty taker at all though. Shouldn't have been given that responsibilty just because he was #9 striker. You'll remember him taking a penalty with his left against Everton that was a threat to planes.
  16. He was two footed. His right was very strong when it came to shooting and passing. It's just that his left is naturally dominant foot, and this was evident if you watched him receive the ball, run with it, etc. edit: Actually, quite sure he took penalties with both feet. The fact is that he was too much of a loose cannon to be on penalty duties period.
  17. Voted Barton as he's my favortie player to watch taken out of context. For Newcastle though, it is probaly Kadar, Ameobi, or Jonas.
  18. Sol Campbell  Listen, if you play the big bumbling grandfather against the Barca attack for two legs then the Barca boys will spell A-R-S-E-N-A-L over the two legs. It's all your opinion, Diablo, but there is nothing slow about the way Barca play. Sometimes they play very slow in the neutral areas of the pitch, but their play in the attacking zone is sharp and crisp.
