  1. Blurgh... boring. French team will be in the smifinals then for the first time in a good while. Disappointed that Man U have such a relatively easy road to Madrid.
  2. I think they're probably referring to the UEFA Cup before they introduced groups, ala 4ish years ago. Oh, fair enough. Still, I think the group stage is a very good experience for the teams/fans involved. Also, a massive money maker as mentioned.
  3. I'm so disappointed, right now. Can't believe OM managed to throw that away. I missed the game in an exam, but bloody hell, 2-1 on aggregate with less than 30 minutes to go and we've just wasted it. Last second goal of course. Benfica will win the whole thing now. Last two years the winner beat us in the knockout stage.
  4. Unseeded cup competitons don't breed anything other than chaos, imo.
  5. You're talking nonsense, man. The only difference between the UEFA cup and the Europa League is that the group stage is now logical and fair. So how was the UEFA Cup so much better?
  6. There is no UEFA cup and the group stage in the Europa League is almost identical to the one in the in the Champions League, albeit it slightly more competitive.
  7. The idiocy is dripping from the page when it comes to our players sometimes. Best may well be rubbish and from what I've been able to gather from the matches I've seen/heard live and/or saw highlights of he definitely hasn't got off to a great start in the reverential black and white. The fact remains that he has been on the pitch somewhere around 364 minutes for this team. I wish on all of you that you are forever judged in your jobs and occupations based on the first 364 minutes of your work, while you acclimate to your new surroundings. Not even a full work day, that is. IT is fine to express our doubts as the supporters that spend our hard earned currency on tickets/merchandise/whatever, but this over-the-top chastisation is undoubtedly uncalled for. I say, let us give the man time. I think that would be the better option than declaring the young man's career over on the back of a 20 minute substitute appearance in a match that was well won.
  8. wtf? I was there too They are really stumbling over the finish line this season in the League, but their CL performances have still been very professional and efficient. I was raging when OM could only draw against Toulouse on Sunday (typical against them). If we had won we would have been a point adrift. Still, three behind is not so bad. If we win all our matches we will pass Montpellier for second. Teams 1-6 in the table could all win the title and OM-OL and Bordeaux-Lille on Sunday are massive matches. Wish Girondins all the best in the CL, btw.
  9. Stupid that Beckford is third on that list. It is like calling Colo the third best player in England. He is not playing against the best competition.
  10. Shut up you melon. I was just curious to see when people thought/hoped we would gain promotion, if they thought we would at all. Not directed at you, btw. Just my opinion on us talking about "when" we will be promoted. Your OP did a good job of covering both view, tbh.
  11. Has Smith been dropped? He needs to play if we are start Guthrie in a 4-4-2. I know he is injured, but that is what should happen when he comes back. Nolan is much better in a 4-5-1 or off the bench.
  12. I've been reduced to supporting Inter in this competition. I would support the French sides but I....I...I just can't be happy to see OL or Bordeaux win. Munich won't beat any of the decen teams, imo. As long as it's not Man U, I'll be alright, I suppose.
  13. If he wasn't off glassing people in the face and acting like a foolish child, than he wouldn't get as much stick. He's a talented player. He should dominate this level and he has. It will be interesting to see what becomes of him as a Premiership player, one can only hope the confidence carries over.
  14. Didn't watch the game tonight so I can't comment, but I thought he was poor at Boro. Imo, he will struggle to play in a two man midfield in the Premiership. Defensively he is rather poor. He is rather skillful and incisive going forward, but not enough to cover these deficiencies at the next level.
  15. I hate threads like these. We'll seal it whenever we seal, but for now we should stop being so smug, or Forest might serve some humble pie for us.
  16. I'm suprised Nolan hasn't won more with his lung bursting runs into the box.
  17. Babayaro hasn't cared about football for almost ten years now. I would be shocked if he is ever on a football pitch again. he has absolutely no desire and no will. Done a good bit for charity recently. He's been working with that for several years now. I give him credit for that, but the fact remains he was more concerned with sticking himself in some girl's yansh than being a successful footballer. He actually got banned from Nigeria for being too indiscplined. No resoecg for him as a player, massive waste.
  18. Wouldn't mind Inter winning the whole thing now, just for the sight of Mourinho triumphantly sneering at the entire footballing world.
  19. I don't see how commiting fouls the referee doesn't penalise is cheating either. It's a poor job of refereeing.
  20. I would like Chelsea to go out, to be honest. Bit bored of English teams dominating the later stages. Barca have won the thing just as much as English teams in the past five years and have been in the semis three years out of five. Your complaints aren't valid, man.
  21. It is the knockout rounds of the Champions League. Cheating is the status quo. It is not just Mourinho.
  22. Rubbish change. Coca-Cola Championship rolls off the tongue. Npower Championship doesn't roll off of anything. Never heard of it...do you pronounce it N'Power or "N" Power?
  23. Babayaro hasn't cared about football for almost ten years now. I would be shocked if he is ever on a football pitch again. he has absolutely no desire and no will.
  24. Totally unrelated to transfers, but I'm very happy for Pavluchenko and Gomes at Spurs. Last year they had trouble adjusting and the rabid English media had decided that they were failures and all of the supporters were on their backs. A year on and both a doing well and are intergral parts of a side challenging for the Champions League. People should learn to be patient sometimes.
