What right do they have to demand more for the player anyway? I'm surprised we agreed to pay 900,000. Considering the situation of the player and the two clubs, we have no reason to overpay.
-
I think that defence would be fine as a base. Obviously you need to bring in some players to to cover and/or challenge for places, but imo the defence is nowhere near our greatest concern. That would be upfront, where we don't have one Premiership quality player right now.

I've always thought Derek Rae (ESPN US and International) was well-informed, very clear and just generally good at his work.
-
Weird the way this club works nowadays. Long, protracted transfer sagas amounting to nothing, and then random players being bought within a day of being mentioned

Sounds like nothing's fixed there at all. Probably why no one watches the ACoN. Nothing was fixed. I don't see how anything about that would indicate something being fixed? Plenty of people watch as well.....

I would be a bit concerned if we're bringing him permanently. We have more than enough players who we know can't make it at the Premiership level, and the defence is the best area of the team.

Group D at the ACN was ridiculous. Cameroon, Gabon, and Zambia all finished on four points. Tunisia finished on three points. Every team in the group finished with a goal differential of 0. For some reason, Cameroon and Zambia go through. Feel bad for Gabon. Anyway quarterfinals are set: Angola-Ghana Nigeria-Zambia Egypt-Cameroon CIV-Algeria Should be brilliant. Potential for some amazing semifinals/finals and we have a rematch of the 2008 final (Egypt-Cameroon) in the quarters.

had new ski boots fitted today, the bloke was telling me he prefers them tight with no room to slip around. typical. the ski boot man kindly added, the more you do it the looser they get. sound advice the sign on the ticket machine im at says: slot out of action. i know the feeling Strikers always moaning about tugging, they ought to score more. What the hell is this?!

Are you a masochist of some kind?

Ridiculous drama between Cameroon and Tunisia. Tunisia scored to make it 2-1 in the 63rd but Cameroon answered back in less than a minute. Wild game.
-
3-0. Oba comes in as a sub and scores.
-
Just so you know, Yakubu is a ridiculously fat waste of space and you should sell him to the highest bidder for funds.
-
2-0 up. Osaze at the double. If we ever get to the Premiership we should sign him.
-
WE SIGNED A PLAYER? ON A PERMANENT DEAL?? This must be a lie!

La Liga followers...has Joaquin been anything decent recently? Speculation linking him with l'OM.

Ameritoon....you must inform of the name of this stunningly beautiful woman. -
I watched some of the Ghana match, and those things are disgusting. Adidas has made Nigeria kits way too boring, but at least we don't have to wear that rubbish.

Maybe it's me, but I think Bojan needs to put on weight or take Messi's HGH pills or something. I think his size is holding him back.

Are the Chronicle usually considered a decent source? -
Very much a possibility. They already played in this tourney though, with CIV winning 3-1. Mali have so many good players, yet they ALWAYS fail to do well. I mean in 2008, they had Nigeria and CIV in their group so they were up against it, but there is no way they should have failed to get out of that group. Ghana three minutes away from the quarters, but if Burkinabe score, they will be out. African teams don't seem to play very often, do they? Do they have the same amount of friendly, quals, etc... fixtures that European players have for example? Not as many friendlies due to lack of organization and the qualification for the the CAN in a World Cup year is combined with WC qualification. Otherwise, it is a similar amount.
-
Apparently this Perch character can play a whole lot of positions in defence and midfield. If this is the case, then we shouold go ahead and sign him up as we're short in numbers for every midfield and defensive position.
-
What? I thought all of us Africans didn't have any tactical knowledge, so how can Mali's lack of it explain their failures in Africa? Anyway, Ghana are through. Messed up group where everyone only played two matches. Ghana didn't look special, but no one else has so far.

Mali are protesting to CAF about the events yesterday. Mali won their match, but if Angola and Algeria played out a draw between themselves, they would both go through. To the surprise of absolutely no one, the teams played out a boring 0-0 draw. It's a shame for Mali, but tey wont win the appeal, and they probaly shouldn't have let Angola get a 4-0 lead against them.
