I was at the League Cup Final, we hardly saw a Norwich supporter before or after to get friendly with and when Chisholm scored the own goal and Walker missed the penalty the Mackems weren’t exactly taking it in good spirit. There’s more than just an early best supporters in the world element to this. They lost and needed something the cling onto and used this to show how super they were. Iirc they’d beaten Norwich at Carrow Rd a week or so earlier and they expected to win the final. The only reason I was at the final was because my best mate supports them and he had a spare ticket which he couldn’t, literally, give away. It wasn’t until the night before that I agreed to go down. Was a good day mind it’d have been unbearable in the mini bus coming home if they’d won.

He may not be Bayern or PSG level but with those names being mentioned it’s reasonable to think that better opportunities than Newcastle under Ashley will come his way.

I’d be very surprised if he’s here next season. If we get sold and Rafa can sell a vision we just might keep him. He’s putting himself in the shop window and we’re just window shopping with Ashley in charge. Chelsea will want more than 15M.

Bumped into the bloke I know who works on scouting/ development for the club. Had a meeting with Rafa last week and Rafa seems to be happy enough and that a lot will depend on whether a takeover happens and if not what budget he’s given. There is interest from Sociedad. Nowt shattering there though it was good to hear that Rafa is happy and that takeover possibilities are still there. I should clarify that I spoke to this bloke prior to Stifler’s revelations.

It really is a piss take, the TV companies should be made to have some kind of compensation scheme set up to refund supporters who can prove their loss. In real terms it would be peanuts to them and would get a little goodwill back. There’s plenty fans out there who are paying Sky and BT a small fortune each year and will also be losing a couple of hundred pounds and sometimes more each year because of short notice game changes. Lad I know who goes to SJP with us 3 or 4 times a season (spare tickets)who has a ST at Sunderland in the Premier Concourse, not far from Bain. In the 2 matches before today he’s told me that 2 separate fans have got from their seats to approach Bain, the first one sat down beside Bain, had a chat and returned to his seat, completely unchallenged by any Steward and the second shouted at Bain asking what was going on; again unchallenged. He reckons that the club are shit scared of upsetting the fans in the ground in case it all kicks off. Apparently 4 of the 5 bar/ food concessions in the Concourse are now closed and the it feels like the place is just getting ready to close down. It really is desperate stuff.

Good player, I had a girlfriend who’s mother absolutely loved him. England were playing in South America and despite it being a friendly it was shown live late at night on the beeb (very rare in the 80’s), anyway she’s gushing over what a gent he was and how good looking he was when he snarled to a very young ball right in front of a mic and tv camera to give him the fucking ball. It was absolutely hilarious ? granted, you had to be there to see the look of horror on her face. Hope he pulls through, 61 is no age.
