His control is still dreadful but he’s been unrecognisable from the fraud he was prior to Christmas

There’s some selective opinions going on here. Sunderland, IMO, are bigger than most of the clubs mentioned in the last few posts. Villa are bigger but there again on most things Villa are also bigger than us. In terms of history, stadium and crowds, Sunderland are a big club; their League Titles are only bettered by a few (albeit most of these were at a time when the League was in its infancy). Whether we like it or not they have more titles than us, won the league and the FA Cup more recently than us as well. There are reasons for the more titles and I don’t believe they are bigger than us but you could put up a reasonable argument otherwise. Their biggest problem is that they are located in the north east and have a rather unpleasant city. There’s no doubting that despite being a big club they are a club that no top quality player would want to play for. Worryingly, we have similar problems in that respect. Thanks Mike.

We are equal bottom with West Brom on Home form, unless that improves we will go down.

I’ve got no problem with the penalty against us other than the fact that these are hardly ever punished and almost never by the linesman.

We need some help here

Great control on that

Burnley are a very irritating team, well drilled in everything. The little pushes in the small of the opponents back when the ball is on the deck and the arm on the back for high balls was almost perfect last night. This coupled with the most generous PL referee I’ve seen in ages meant that they got away with an awful lot. There was always a small tug of a shirt when a player was on a run, but only for a second so that the referee didn’t feel the need the give a free kick. It was a master class. On top of this Burnley got away with quite a bit of back chatting to the referee (Barnes really could have been sent off) and Bardsley was a disgrace towards the fans after they scored (he hadn’t been receiving stick either). No sour grapes but it was football played by numbers and boundaries.

If you can’t win at least 6 at home you go down and deservedly so.

Saw McBurnie mentioned as a possible loan. ?

Slimani had been approached earlier on but was holding on as he’d been told Chelsea might come for him. I think this will get done.

They’ve just signed Inigo Martinez for £28M today.
-
£8M bid for Hugill is proper mad.
-
If he doesn’t walk can we all blindly believe that the takeover is on in the summer? Surely he’d walk otherwise.
-
Must be a right kick in the nads for Rafa. Hope someone points out to Ashley that his £350M club has just lost out on a potential relegation saver to West Brom. Nowt against West Brom but it’s an absolute shocker of a decision.
-
Can we have this, another striker and a keeper please. Sturridge sounds great but he’s a walking injury.
-
Make of this what you will, to me it suggests we’re generally just messing around. We sent a scout to the Huddersfield game on Saturday to prepare a report on Mooy; as a possible target for the summer. Not only must we know just about everything on Mooy already but he wasn’t even on the bench and wasn’t expected to feature going from local reports in the days leading up to the game. I’m not joking here btw. Going through the motions no intentions of anything.

Second half has been a disgrace; you’ll see more effort in a pre-season game. We really are just going through the motions. Wednesday is absolutely huge, the players have go to believe in what we’re trying to do. There’s zero belief out there.
-
Complete non event this second half.
-
Newport been excellent so far.
-
We need a striker who we can rely on to score us goals more than anything. We don’t carry a threat up front.

That’s the chap. I did also ask about the takeover (not that he’d know the inside track on that) and he simply laughed. Sounds like an absolute farce.
