Very good again today; I’d have had him put down just months ago. He made so many blocks and interceptions and yet still managed to look he wasn’t trying at times with the way he runs.

I was in the Fulwell End with my Sunderland supporting mate for that Gillingham game; there were a fair few Nufc fans in with me who made it quite clear who they supported.

Can’t believe people are not bothered if any of our players get injured. Shelvey has a big role to play in some of our remaining fixtures; we have nobody who can pick some of the passes he can. We’re not exactly blessed in midfield. Baffling.

It was Ritchie's man who scored the first goal Badly worded, Ritchie is on the chase throughout the move, Shelvey can see Smith run into the space and does nothing. It’s done and dusted now but it was a poor substitution.

He should have been subbed after their first goal. He was stood watching his man run off him to score with his hands on his knees, he was knackered. Two days later and I still can’t fathom why Rafa chose to bring Manquillo on for Ritchie instead. We needed legs in midfield, Merino was the clear call.

IMO West Brom and Stoke are gone. Even at the most pessimistic I have us on 36 points and staying up on goal difference. If we’d won at Bournemouth we’d be 2 wins and a draw from safety, 37 points should see any team over the line.

Rafa didn’t need hindsight to have considered Merino for Shelvey would be a better substitution than Manquillo for Ritchie. Shelvey had just bust a gut to miss a sitter and then stood with his hands on his knees as his man scored. We needed the energy in midfield and Rafa chose to put Manquillo on. We controlled that game for the large part, missed 3 sitters to make it safe and then made the wrong change. I can’t imagine Rafa is too happy this morning.

Need to see it again but anywhere else on the pitch Shelvey gets a free kick for the challenge (they had one the same mind). Shelvey, Perez and Atsu all missed great chances to have killed that game off; what really pissed me off was tha5bonce they’d scored you just knew they’d get another. Rafa should have subbed Shelvey

Bournemouth were there for the taking today. Two points absolutely thrown away and Soton grab a late equaliser. Gutted by that.

Leicester can’t get out of first gear here. Awful.

That’s not good like. Once he is physically fit he’ll not be anywhere near match fit.

In our relegation season he was awful and missed a sitter against Everton late in the season, late in the game which would have been enough to keep us up. Having said that he was very good the season before and was the main reason we didn’t go down then.

Rafa was apparently in Francesca’s Friday lunchtime. Nee idea if he had to queue but hope he had a Calzone, Napoli sauce and chips washed down with a Moretti or 2. Sucker for that every time I go.

Listened to one of their fans on Radio Newcastle after the game; he was ranting on and I have to say that I do feel sorry for the proper supporters they have. I have best mates who are almost lost for words. Putting everything to one side what is happening there is a disgrace and it’s not as though you couldn’t see it coming.
